Hey! I'm only 16 years old and I've been looking into LARP and want to do it, am I too young?
Hello! No, you are not too young! A few games are 18 and older, some even 21 and older, but most games with age limits will let underage wizards attend if you have a guardian with you!
If I had met someone out in the wild looking like that red haired elf alike alone out in the wild, i'd be "over the hills and far away" in seconds.. That one looked scary... :) Oh and have fun with all the LARPing, I've had fun wathing all these videos Ive been stumbling over.
I am 14 and i found out about larp by looking up what cosplay was and i watchd a vid that said that cosplay is nothing like LARP and so i wanted to know what larp was so i watched your vid first then mo mo brians and it definitaly helped and i really want to do larp and i told my mom about larp and she thought it was weird but then i was showing my friend your vid and i asked my freind if she would ever want to go larping with me if we could and she said mabey then my mom said "you are not larping" and i kinda thought she was joking so i laughed and i was thinking about it and so I asked her why i cant go larping and she said of course the usual think a parent would say "you cant larp because its stupid" i told her " no its not its amazing and fun"and she said a bunch o mean things about how its dumb and imature and that i need to grow up and that its for kids and I said it shouldnt be just for kids and i said but when I am 18 i can because i will be an adult and she said that if I am 18 and i am larping that I am not an adult and it doesnt help that I am a christian and she says it could be demonic and i told her it wasnt and she just kept coming up wih excuses. Idk what to do.???

How LARP helped cure my anxiety. Not many people realize that LARP can be a valuable tool for therapy and socialization. But you know... I think that your particular problem deserves it's own video. If you could send us a message (Facebook would be best but we can do it here too) with some more specific issues she has with LARP, we will do our best to address them
I'm thinking the title will be: "So, your kid wants to LARP." Or something like that.

So when go to a Larp game, do you go to the camp already in character, or do you get into character (and costume) after getting there and stuff?
What if the website says there is no avalible LARP in your state...? I live in the US
This is honestly the hardest question to answer, there's just so many things it is but it's so hard to put into coherent words. Maybe I just just memorise that definition XD

I know this video is almost a year old at this point but I have a few questions, at the risk of sounding stupid: First off, what would you recommend if your preferred 'LARP' is not in your area (mine being "Belegarth", I think)? Secondly, tying into the first question, what LARPing locations would you recommend in Washington State, more specifically in the Fife area? I'm not sure if I've missed any or not. Lastly, where would you recommend buying equipment for LARPing?

I personally like to buy my Larp gear from Etsy stores (we have a whole episode on things I've sound worth splurging on) and I get my weapons from Epic Armoury! I also like to use Medieval Collectibles. :)

i would agree that there is crossover but reenactment isn't larp also are there any larp groups with steel weapons like fantasy stuff just with steel

Could my friends and I create a miniature game and just do it together, or does it have to be an official thing? Because, uh, we're kind of a large but tight-knit friend group, and we seem to be the only ones who can tolerate our own weirdness, (as in, random screaming for no reason, high anxiety, and general cringiness,) not to mention that we're kids, the youngest kid is seven and the oldest is sixteen. This stuff seems like so much fun, but it reminds me of when I wanted to get into rave culture. Not necessarily kid-friendly, it had to have rules, there seem to be specific places you have to go, COVID-19 makes it difficult, and my friends and I probably aren't old enough.
At first I thought LARP was like cosplay, but when I asked, someone said, "Cosplay is a separate thing of its own entirely. Larp is reliant on the role play, improv and original character creation." That had confused me, because I spent almost a week in cosplay, role-playing as that character, improvising through problems, and while not original, I was extending the character with my own ideas. I didn't see what made it so much different, and why that person seemed to have such a negative outlook on cosplay. That made me nervous to ever look at this stuff again.
Uh, anyways. 😅
Is it like acting games? Well, like, I know it is, but there's a specific kind of game I mean. My friends and I have a thing where we scrape together the best costumes we can, come up with characters with deep backstory and specific traits, and make up our own adventures.
Okay, even I didn't understand that little rant. What I mean is, can children make up their own games involving friends, or does it have to be official to be called LARP?

Reenactment is not LARP. There have similar features, but there are not the same.
By the bare bones definition of the acronym, Reenactment does fall under the category of Live Action Role Play, though we do understand that the communities, cultures, and philosophies differ greatly. We've included reenactment in our discussion of larp because there is definite bleed over in the communities, and if someone doesn't want to try fantasy larp, they may be more interested in historical reenactment (and vice versa)
SCA is LARP. You have to have a character, and dress up a certain way. It's actually what I hate about it.

As a Californian larper, well I agree that those look nice, I don't want to be hit in the head/eye by something with such a thin tip. Even though the head is not a legal target, our weapons out here are also built for incidental contact.
