    I drive a Promaster City and during 2000km normal driving (no hypermiling or racing) mixed city and highway I get 27 MPG. On highway trips I get 31 MPG driving 65 miles per hour on flat land. Bought it as Promaster City is one of a few small vans that has a bulkhead that separates the drivers compartment from the cargo so that in my case the whole van doesn’t continue to smell after gasoline after transporting equipment and it has a nice low loading hight too.

    Hopefully you'll be able to test the Chevrolet City Van as well...

    Can some one weigh in on the ZF 9 speed? I haven't heard anything good about it. Is it getting better?

      20 at best. My testing is real world 30k as a 2015 work van. All I can say is, Its Crap! I had one of these for my work van. company payed for everything so that's all cool. BUT its a Fiat, not a Ram. The 9 speed is so bad ! it never can make up its mind! It also is crap for MPGs mixed 21mpg. I also had several break downs in 30k.is it "quick!" NO, A 2005 corolla has more go juice! the Only good thing I can say, its good for putting stuff in! But thats about all it does good. HATED driving that van, but if was free so whatever. Also NOTE if you'er over 6' don't buy the van with the cage you will not fit! My sum up ITS a POS shop other vans.

    I personally like a knob you can adjust it infinitively compared to a lever you have to put it were the gears mech so not as precise and a other point it is not as safe let say that you press on the gas at the same time adjusting the seat back with a lever style adjustment the back of the seat could go too far and the driver could loose control this is why I think that European manufactures go with the knob arrangement .

    • @JETZcorp
      @JETZcorp Před 2 lety

      I prefer the lever because it's much faster and more comfortable to use. I've occasionally found a car where the different teeth were too far apart and there was no good position, but usually you get pretty fine control. With the knob system, it's inevitably shoved up against the B pillar with the seatbelt playing defense. The company I work for has a couple Sprinters and I hate jamming my hand back there and wrenching on that thing about 40 rotations to get the seat back out of meerkat mode where one of our other drivers always puts it. In the big dumb 4mpg V-10 Ford vans, you pull the lever that's well forward, lean back where you want, and you're done.

    I just filled my 93 S10 Blazer up with fuel today. My suv got 28.07 mpg. This is a mix between city and highway driving. On the highway I get over 30 mpg. I am in south Florida with temps in the mid to high 90s.

      tytotheler92 That's not possible because you cannot accomplish it?? In the winter time I get even better mileage. Best mileage I got was 42 MPG. It can be done. Sorry you are to uneducated to do it.

    The only vehicle in that segment that actually looks kinda decent is the Ford Transit. Everything else (especially the Nissan) just looks ugly.

    It needs to come with the v6 from the caravan! not enough power to use as a cargo van.

    • @JETZcorp
      @JETZcorp Před 2 lety

      It has almost as much horsepower as a big Sprinter 3500 dually (that has 181hp). I've taken 14 passengers with luggage over the Cascade Range in one of those, and it's done the job. For the Promaster City which is closer in size to a Honda Accord, it's plenty. Maybe it'll have to downshift on a hill - oh the horror. You might not be able to drag race an S2000 with it like the Caravan could, but mileage matters more to the bottom line of a business.

    24 mpg! ! ! ! The european version with the diesel (I don't even think you can get a petrol version over here) would double that. Why don't you have them over there? forgive me if this has already been asked/answered. Just seems nuts to me that they ship engines and gearboxes to Europe so they can bolt them into a European van when the engines they already have in them return better MPG.

    • @1guyin10
      @1guyin10 Před 9 lety +1

      Carine Walker They don't have any diesels for that chassis that are federalized for sale in the US. Diesels are fairly rare here for a variety of reasons. That said, they have a new diesel in development that is very likely to be offered here in the future. It will help that the upcoming EU diesel emissions will essentially match those of the US. A diesel would serve commercial customers well in one of these vans.

    • @daseteam
      @daseteam Před 9 lety

      Americans seem to have an aversion to diesel. My European box has a 2 stage turbocharger, twin cam 4 valves per cylinder and returns 40 mpg US. BUT it is a diesel......Oh and 3000 litres and 5 seats.

    • @daseteam
      @daseteam Před 9 lety

      1guyin10It is also diffficult to find diesel 2, the higher quality version.

    • @carinewalker
      @carinewalker Před 9 lety

      1guyin10 oh yes of course I've totally overlooked the emissions issue! It's always made me wonder though, we have euro 5 at the moment, not sure what the measurements or readings are, but as a whole, European vehicles use less fuel and have or are allowed high emissions. whereas US vehicles put out less emissions but use more fuel. Always baffled that has! Lol
