Couldn't be more true! Moreover, in India, low end jobs are in bulk & high end jobs are very very very limited! So, most people, despite their hard work, talent, degree etc are forced to work low end and almost always back end jobs compared to foreigners with much lesser qualifications & skills. The best & most interesting parts of a project always goes to the foreign based team. Indians are used as "donkeys" to implement the so called "great" ideas thought by the foreign based team or sometimes just to do customer support to the foreign developed product.

Basically expecting Indian life in abroad. I don't think any country will offer that other than India. Canada/Aus are not economic powerhouse. Its either US/UK/Germany where there are enough job opportunities. We are leaving entire community/roots back in India only to search elsewhere. One cant find their roots anywhere other than India. We should earn money, accept others culture and get back if there is a homesick mindset.

No, I have not come across any Indian 'expecting Indian life abroad'. Most are able to adjust to life abroad. But getting a job can be difficult for many Indians. Self employment, such as opening a corner store has its dangers. Indian shop owners in many Western countries have been attacked and some killed. Life can be difficult. Every Indian NRI must weigh the benefits and costs of living abroad as compared to living in India. Superficial comforts versus long term social mobility should also in the weighing scale. Indian culture is diluted in India itself, more so abroad.

Very very correctly said....and talking about embracing other cultures....I have seen more Germans happily accepting Indian traditions & foods rather than an Indian wholeheartedly embracing the culture or the traditional food of a country like Germany or France. If we don't respect someone, should never expect the same from anybody else!

I would love to share about my 27 year-journey and share my experience. After completing my B.A. degree in Economics at the University of Mumbai, I came to Germany to pursue my post-grad in Economics at a German University in Stuttgart. One of the pre-requisites to study at the German Uni was to pass two written DSH exams and appear for an oral exam at the Uni, for which I attended a 6-month German language intensive preparatory course. As a young Indian woman and alone back then, I was homesick, struggled with passing my exams for the degree which was all in GErman. German Unis back then had no English degree courses. Coming from Mumbai, from a rather open-minded middle class family, I really felt I entered a parochial place. Since, it was my sole decision to come to Germany and against my parents decision who wanted me to go either to the UK or to Canada where we had relatives, I went against my parents wishes and came to Germany to pursue my further studies. Hence, I could not tell them of my hardships and struggles. I had three jobs during the semester Ferien to finance myself. till I finally got a chance to do an internship at Siemens in Munich by the 3rd year in Germany. I left my post-grad degree after 2.5 years because I found it tough to do it in German and took up Siemens and thereafter kick started my career at a global asset management firm based in Munich. By then German improved but still found everything so difficult. I worked hard and at times harder than my German colleagues who then started getting envious with my achievement especially on intl. projects. My German colleagues gave me a tough time and especially German woman. By my 8th year, I got my permanent residency and in 2004, I met my husband. We got married in 2007 and then came my children who are teenagers today. I have to say then even after 27 years, as an Indian woman but today with a husband (who understands me and knows everything) and children, I still find it hard to gel with Germans. They lack social, emotional skills. It is soooo tough to raise kids bilingually and interculturally here and is met with alot of compromises. As for my fancy asset management career, I had to give it up because my German colleagues somehow felt insecure and threatened. It is very German to blame their economic distress on foreigners. I like Germany and my kids and husbands are born here and consider Germany their home, but I do not. And upto date still hold the Indian passport. I now am completing my masters, that I could not finish back then due to the language, at the Technical University of Munich. There is so much more to share, but I never advice Indians to come to Germany, because it is a painstaking and tough journey. Enjoyed your video Shraddha and I wish you both best of luck. Canada or any english speaking country is the best option atleast for Indians and Asians.

Part 2: and another issue with the Germans is that they are very envious and suspicious especially towards foreigners. That is what I experienced at work and even in my social network. They do not like to hear that you as a foreigner can be successful. Today, my husband and I come under the category as high-income earners and we never share our success with them. Happiness is also something they do not like you to show. In fact the more you grumble on itty gritty things like them, the more they relate to you and accept you. In a way it is a sick society. And with that comes several great sides. For example their attitude toward the envirnoment (which at times could go overboard), their love for nature and the beautiful landscapes that they have. Their school education which I never liked exactly because of the reasons Shraddha pointed out. However, we have put our kids at the Waldorf where they do not get seperated in grade 5, but only after grade 10. The waldorf is till grade 13 and the quote of children there finishing off with an arbitur examination is high. Both my children have blosoomed there and are seen as potential gymnasial children now itself.

      @striker44 Před 9 měsíci +8

Thank you for sharing. What is a "gymnasial" kid? The hardships you mention are what any immigrant goes through to adjust to new environment and culture. Current immigrants face lot lesser hardships than prior ones. Your kids and subsequent generations will eventually be fully integrated Germans that they will find it challenging to immigrate to other countries. Seems like you are comfortable and wish you finding that inner happiness.

Thanks for sharing this amazing video. When I came down to the UK, I faced some initial hiccups. Learning the local language/ dialect is very important. Well now I am fluent in Scottish Gaelic even though it's not required here. But when locals hear me interact in Gaelic esp. with the older gen. people their expressions are priceless. Racism is a reality everywhere, it might be less somewhere, but it still exists. In countries like Germany, it's in massive levels. Anyways, when we move out of India, we have to adapt to it.

    Hi all together,
it seems like I am the only german guy, who comments the video. Which is not a wonder because speaking Hindi is not common in Germany. Sorry. So I cant' understand the whole video, only the english sentences. But I can read the comments. First I have to say, that I never visited India, but Sri Lanka. And Bali once. Only for a vacation. But like in the most comments I had a cultural shock too. Life in India and Germany is different. Definitely. But that is like it is. If you want to live in another country, try to inform yourself about culture, social life, food, rules etc. Perhaps I can help?
    Racism:
Yes, there is racism in Germany, but isn't that part of many countrys, even in India? Which is sad but not only a german problem. It doesn't make it better but less an origin german problem.
    Salary:
Salary is not the highest in Europe but the economists would say, that it is too high. It is a question of perspective.
    Taxes:
We have high taxes, yes. With these taxes and other payments to the government we pay the police, the military, the schools (which are free), the help for poor people (nearly nobody needs to sleep outside, exept he is not able or willing to articulate his needs because of personal problems), the university, the streets, the hospitals, the retirement saleries, enviromental enhancements etc. All these things are the reason, why I pay my taxes with proud. Nearly nobody has to pay 45 percent income Tax because for the first thousands you pay nothing, for the next tousands you pay a little bit more etc etc. At the end you pay less than that. If you are earn so much money that you are in the highest Tax group, you are very lucky because you are really rich.
    The language:
It is absolutely necessary to speak german. We are not an english speaking country but most of the younger people are able to speak that. But normally we use it in our holydays, not with our colleages. There might be some companys, where this is possible but that is not standard. Try to speak german, try to talk to other people as much as possible, don't be to sad if your german counterpart isn't very friendly. That seems to be a special feature of our language. And we are really focused on our life, family (parents, kids, grandparents, but not necessarily more than that) and job. It isn't common to visit other people (even friends) without any previous phonecall. It makes it obviously difficult for foreign people to be part of our society. Sorry for that.
    Digitalization:
    Yes, we should be better.
    Food:
I love indian food! But I know many Germans, who wouldn't eat it. Our food was historically not very diverse. The klimate didn't gave us the possibility to grow a a huge amount of different spices, fruits etc. But we have bread, sausages and potatoes. And we are the "Krauts" so we have cabbage. But it changed during the last 30 years.
    Rules:
    Yes we have rules.
    Parents:
Do we give our parents to an retirement home? YES OF COURSE. If they start to do silly things, off with them! Nonsens... We have that facilities and it is very helpful, if your parents are getting demetia or having cancer during the last weeks of their live. If you don't have a huge amount of sibelings you are thankful for that.
All in all Germany is a country with many faults but I love to live here. Peace, Secureness, the liberty not to be like anyone else if you don't like (for example religion/believing, sexual orientation), the long days in summer, the central heating in winter, the waste separation;-), I like that...But I was born here, so it is easy...

hahaha. Hey Shraddha, I came to Germany just a week ago. The reason I resonate most is with this country is literally silent. The other day I was talking to a friend over a phone call and after some minutes I just realized that I was the only one on the street who was making sound. Everyone else were silent with earbuds/headphones on. I was so intimidated and also notices that they are starring at me with a not so happy look. That was hell of an experience. I can not think of living silent like someone has muted you. It is horrible.
Then yeah, Internet sucks. Food is just to survive if you don't have time to cook. The omnipresent food here is bread I see, xD. 7 days in this country and I already started thinking about visiting India asap. hahah.

Good question: My opinion here is that people who go abroad are not always going with the thought of leaving India but some are actually going for opportunities outside. I believe every Indian should be able to study or spend some time abroad because it opens up your mental horizon. Ofcourse, india has issues and so other countries do. In the end it matters what’s your goal in life. You can have a pretty decent life in India and save a lot and build wealth while in Europe you can have a good quality of life but cannot build a lot of wealth. So, it’s a personal choice

You didn’t mention the waiting time for a doctors appointment is 3months minimum & medical facilities in India are way better than what they have here. Most parents are leaving Germany because they split the children into different schools by the age of 6, then the child’s future is based on that, people who don’t study in a gymnasium, have a very different attitude to life, they are more restless and if they are in leadership position they are very insecure of people who are more educated than them. German classes in companies are handed out like a glass of water. The Germans do speak in English but refuse to do so, the only reason they want skilled workers from other countries is because their current population won’t be able to pay the pension of the future generations. They lack a global mindset…..

If you have insurance well and good if not pay from your pocket…as far as remote areas that you speak of the same can be said for remote villages in Germany….Thank you for calling me rich perhaps it gets manifested soon 😊

and stress free education for kids (primary schooling to senior secondary schooling), which is not even upto international standards and neither are the classes as effective as International Schools in other countries. and for good schools, you might have to go to Private Schools, which COSTS MONEY. so I don''t know if you"re getting Quality stuff in Germany for free. :).
Health care: the biggest problem here is even doctors want Work Life balance, even if the patient is struggling to breath, and you'd have to take appointment with a doctor for any medical issue. You face the health issue today, and the doctor gives you an appointment after 3 weeks :))) That"s worth the 15% health insurance you pay.:))

This is on top of the fact that all those countries are depressing due to the lack of people. Not to mention that the people you might come across are sort of or fully racist, trust me, they don't want brown people there. And their taxes are just unbelievable high(although in India also the taxes are high 30% income tax + 18% gst). Tau matlab waise India mein bhi 48% tax hai. Lakin at least we can afford a lot of things here, such as house help. Don't underestimate the convenience factor India provides. The last one is important and very valid point and why no one even me is not wanting to settle here. Germany is only good for masters studies and then it is better to move to US. Also, I have had several conversations with people staying here working more than 4 years and they couldn't even afford to buy own house or appartment. So, next valid point is, earning so less because there is a significant differenece between the gross and net income of an individual, which doesn't allow even to buy an appartment here. So, I don't find it really beneficial to live here, I mean puri life apni ghiswake and then not earning even what you deserve is not something desirable. Not earning enough to even buy a house!
Also, to add on, because of language barrier Germans don't promote Indians to a higher position in management. I mean to say, they themselves believe that we immigrants going to leave their country and treat us as a temporary employer. Don't promote or give hike in salary. Salary hike is still expected when one switch company otherwise there is I don't know negligible chances.

Many are used to 10-15% or more pay rises in India but that is not the reality. Wages are tied to inflation rate. If one wants to earn more they are expected to to take on greater responsibilities at work, which means one has to be excellent and that includes communication skills in German. Can you suggest is it possible & practically achievable to move to Germany with a 3 year old kid where we both can work and have decent pay of minimum 60K where we can live in an average house in a good locality and our child can go to a good school where German language will not be a challenge for her & she can get a good education?

Apply the Purchasing Power Parity factor of 3 times Germany vs India and you will notice that an average upper middle class person in Bombay / Poona / Bangalore is much well off and richer than Berlin

    Great video
you are right. I think with in 1-2 years ATM and hard cash going to vanish in India because today a bhelpuri wala is also accepting money through UPI Google pay
Further India has surpassed UK and in 1-2 years Indian will surpass Germany also in term of GDP.

    I left Germany last year because of following reasons;
    1. Medical is not fast and that good, for simple blood test report takes a week and my wife needed a scan and we got an appointment after 7 months so we came to India and got that scan in 2 days and scan results in 15 days.
    2. Parents can’t move as dependent visa.
