Should You Be Using "SteadyShot" to shoot sports/action on the Sony A9III?

  • Mnay sports shooters think that because we use such high shutter speeds to capture action, that we don't need to have SteadyShot turned on. I 100% disagree and this video explains why SteadyShot is so useful even when using shutter speeds over 1/3000th sec.

You said to turn it off if you’re doing skyscapes on a tripod - but, if I’m shooting crew races, where I pan on a tripod to follow the boat I’m targeting, then I assume I can leave the settings on, on both the a9iii and my lens.
Am I correct in that assumption?

for that I would do some testing for sure. Also, if you are using the 300,400,600GM, make sure you use the middle switch setting for pans

do you think IBIS is better with 300mm in compared to 400 mm. I own 400 and I think it’s pretty bad.

yes, but mostly because it's a shorter focal length and less prone to shake

what do you find your most used OSS setting to be set at? 1, 2, or 3?

      2 because it's for panning
