As is said in The Art of War
Rage like fire when it’s time
Flow like water when it’s time
    Recede when it’s time
    Overwhelm when it is time.

So he was only 22 when he founded Kodokan Judo and had practiced martial arts for 8 years? He would have been like a brown belt or 1 Dan by todays standards. Pretty cool.

People forget Masutatsu Oyama was a third Dan in Judo - and Kano Jiu Jitsu Maeda was the birth of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Genoa Gracie.
And that people like Shihan Bobby Lowe held a 3 Dan in Jiu Jitsu and Kempo Jiu Jitsu as well as bein a gg American Boxer.
I am from that lineage -

In fact, young Kano's ideas and theories were still far from evolution and maturity. But he studied the catalogs and documents of the Kitoryu Jujutsu school as well as a tireless and introspective university student, and like a painter sketching a landscape on a canvas and gradually perfecting it, over four decades he developed his views on his style. which was known as Kano Jujutsu by other Jujutsu schools, he developed it until the mid-1930s and classified Kodokan Judo scientifically.

    It's Kodokan. Not Kokudan.
