I think Cyrax is the problem. Easily the best Kameo in the game, works with almost everyone and provides insane safety, chip damage, and pressure.
Cyrax is A problem, not the only problem. Lot of unbalanced things in this game
I don’t think kameos should be grabbing opponents that are held up. It looks silly when you see raiden and baraka flopping out of their combos to rest and and komtinue their offense. They also have next to no push back on block

I do think he needs a bit of a nerf, but not to his damage, he just needs to be more punishable so people have to actually think more about using his combos, give him more risk to his reward. He's a high damage brute and I love that it suits him perfectly, it just needs counterbalanced and his wreckless bloodlust could be portrayed in making him more punishable.
I just hope he dosen't get over nerfed.
Well most of the issue is that cyrax is keeping him safe too often and he’s doing too much chip damage. If you sit and block everything you are kinda screwed and if you get opened up you gotta break. Also he stuffs wakeups with the deceptive low kick and it’s hard to armor through his pressure.
@YMan-zo5kg Yeah make his low just 1 hit so you can't beat armor and nerf cyrax to have more push block and I think it'll be fine
I mean all parts of his main launcher (B3) are all punishable in various ways. You can easily duck the High of B3,1 so that's already negated. The option that is supposed to poke people ducking the high (with only 7% damage) with B3,2 also leaves you unsafe on block for a full combo and B3 on its own is -14 though Baraka steps back a bit but I've been punished by some characters (ex: Smoke)
So I don't think Baraka is that safe at all. I really don't see anywhere else where it would be justified to make him unsafe (excluding where you can use Cyrax to keep him safe, just talking about Baraka on his own)

I noticed some fighters, like Mileena, General Shao, and Johnny Cage for example, were able to punish Baraka with little difficulty so he’s not op as many claim him to be
There's no way the same devs who made Baraka and Johnny Cage also made Nitara and Sub-Zero.
there's nothing wrong with Nitara...no where near the levels of how bad Sub Zero is, only issue with her is that she's slept on.
I think what NRS can do is just tone down the chip damage and maybe adjust his really good strings to make em more fair. (Cause that chip was DISGUSTING!) and Hard balance Cyrax on god

Did you see the part where you can amplify power slide twice to give them damage over time and extra chip? Same with fatal blow, it also leaves a blade in there gut.
I'm convinced that NetherRealm preplans how the meta is going to go throughout the life cycle. It almost seems impossible that with all their years of experience that they release characters as broken as barka and johnny. Like Baraka has every possible tool, safe mix ups, an insane jump in punch, huge back dash with far reaching normals, massive damage and he can combo off his throws? They're doing too much.
Exactly. The other side of this is players talking about “there are no low tiers in this game!” Like Wtf are you talking about, put Rain or Havok next to Johnny Cage or Baraka and tell me they are anywhere near the same league.

If you’d have told me this was their first ever fighting game I’d believe you, I love how some of the characters feel like kitana, rain & scorpion but the balancing is an absolute laughing matter. You either play the same S tier characters or feel hard done by when your opponent has to put 50% of the effort in that you do and ends up getting more damage out of it
@@Reece-qe2pl as a Kitana main I can tell you the effort I put in to open up against baraka who can touch me with anything for 50%.
Difference being is that Johnny takes a bit of know how to pilot him. You have to understand spacing and staggering. Baraka you just face roll your controller and win.
I think the best nerf for the heavy hitting high tiers like Baraka and Raiden would be to increase scaling on combos that use the same special move multiple times in a combo. Most of their damage comes from high damage special moves being able to combo into themselves (and I think both of these moves are DF2. Coincidence?). Whether if it's through meter burn or Kameo, these moves can extend into another string/hit into another rep. I like Baraka, so I still WANT to do these combos and confirms. But, I'm more than content with either making them weaker or forcing players to end/route them differently. (The chip damage is a whole different conversation, but I feel like the whole game needs to reevaluate the chip.)
i never thought in a million year that I would actually main Baraka but his gameplay is sooooo fun and he is pretty versatile.
Am I the only one who thinks Cage is worse? Baraka is good and does insane damage but he has gaps and is unsafe. The cyrax kameo makes him crazy. Johnny mixups and corner carry drives me crazy.

i genuinely hate cage in this freakin game. i play as raiden and while he does a lot of damage, he’s extremely punishable, so your only option is to wait for the opponent to mess up and do something unsafe.
unless you’re fighting johnny, in that case he has like two special moves that are unsafe

The issue is that many s tiers aren't the most punishable. Johnny and baraka both have little amount of strings and specials that are safe on block
Johnny’s normals are insane on block tho, it’s hard to punish him
Baraka was not just "ok" in Mk11. Especially if you played him online. I would said he's an A tier character. The jump in kick pissed me off to no bounds.
Everyone online seems to talk like Baraka has been awful until now but he was a more than capable character in 11

As a die-hard Baraka main in MK11, he was fun to play but in the grand scheme of things he wasn't great. Insane damage but nothing to open people up to apply that damage on them (only one low with garbage range).
The only nerf id give baraka is scaling the chip damage back some. Fuck that chip damage man.

for baraka's air barrage, enhancing it with a bar of meter and holding down of the triangle button gives him more air spins witch does more damage and it has good corner carry
Baraka is just boring with his easy combos and high damage, but he's not even the worst part. Johnny Cage is straight up unpunishable and insanely safe

Nerf baraka, raiden, kenshi, johnny cage !!!!
I wouldn’t say Raiden personally. There’s not many Raiden players especially in higher ranks surprisingly. I would say other characters like Mileena. And if not her than Liu Kang. Bro has literally everything. He can zone, fight up close, is fast af etc. There should always be a draw back to characters. NRS has a really big problem with not knowing how to properly make character archetypes. And example is Reiko. A grappler…with a projectile? Grapplers should NEVER have projectiles.
Raiden is fine. Soon as you pressure him. It’s nothing he can do. Kenshi can be broken but his high skill ceiling makes for it ( Kenshi is really hard to play ).
Now baraka and Jonny? Absolutely nerf them. Barakas neutral and spacing is way too good even without cyrax and Jonny frames are way too plus/safe. Super hard to punish him.
Johnny needs some changes but Not really nerfs and kenshi just needs less time With sento they two are mostly fine Because u Actually need to know what u doin With raiden and baraka u can be the Most Brain dead Player and still win all the time

However i mostly agree with on kenshi just his sento time need to be a little less and johnny i would just lower his standing 2 so its only +2 and Not +4 would make his nut punch one bar again Because there is really no Point for it being 2 bar and i would make his f 1 2 3 punishable the other Problems are Not really johnny being to strong it's more cyrax being to strong Most of the Balanceing Problems rn coming from him so next i would change him making his b kameo way less stun so u have the time of Forst or sub zero if it Hits but i also would make it faster next i would make that u get horrible scaling for useing his neutral kameo and hold kameo and make that it's taking longer to recover now u can still do Block damage but can't spamm Hit u can still combo from Grab but it's barely worth it u can still use it to make urself safe but u can't spamm it now u can Still Do better combos but they Not gonna be Ridiculous and last of All his b kameo gonna make him a better Pick for other characters so We get more New character couples that make the game more fun Because it's Not the same everytime
While it may not be super useful I love baraka’s enhanced air blade spark. When the enemy is airborne it actually ground bounces for a huge launch so it can lead to some really fun combos. In the corner I do B3->1 into a slightly delayed jump 2->4 and then cancel into blade spark and then follow up with something like 2->1->DF2. Not optimal but it gives me dopamine
If I'm online and someone beats my main I will go Baraka for revenge
once johnny gets some of his combos made unsafe, i’ll be down for other people getting nerfed honestly. i think he might be the most busted person in the game

I really wish they'd just buff everyone to be as broken as Baraka and Cyrax. Move the health meter to 2000 so 2 hits doesn't kill you and badabing badaboom!!

I do hope things can be better balanced over time, but that doesn’t mean just nerf baraka. A few things need balanced, but I love how this game is totally switched up from previous iterations. Overall I think everyone can be good (just give sub at least one of his bawls back lol)
Baraka is good as he is, he doesn't need a nerf. It's just people optimizing him by using cyrax kameo which can feel too oppressive, maybe the devs need to take a look at cyrax instead. Like you said, it's about time Baracka gets his time to shine 😉
I DO think his DOT and chip damage looks a little silly, but yes, from the looks of things, his really good stuff is only really good cuz Cyrax makes everything safe as hell.

I have always thought that instead of nerfing top teirs just buff the rest of the cast so low tiers get the spot light and there won't be so many players switch characters because 2 or more characters get nerfed to the ground
Idk anyone needs “nerfs” to damage, the characters that need nerfs just need to be a bit more punishable and unsafe, and maybe give sub zero a tiny damage buff

Netherrealm finally giving my boy baraka time in the spotlight, not only with gameplay but with his personality and role in story mode too
My friends wanna give me grief for loving Baraka and how he plays, but he’s one of my favorite characters from the beginning, down to design. I wouldn’t mind trying other kameos outside of Cyrax though. Need to work on Baraka with frost kameo. Two freezing moves, low and mid, with an armored glacier drop that turns into frost rapid punching the opponent is extremely good for working with Baraka. You got freeze stubs to open up opponents for more damage.
Also gotta use tremor with Baraka when he comes out. Dear god Tremor is gonna work WAY to well with Baraka players like myself. His variations and altogether utility is gonna add way more options to Baraka’s already long list of attacks, specifically setups. Tremor’s ground pounds and rolling spikes are gonna have opponents forced to block low, opening them up to Baraka’s brutal specials and attack strings that mostly consist of mids and overheads, with exceptions to chop chop going low. I hope they bring back Tremor’s armored flex. If he dishes that armor buff on Baraka, opponents are screwed if they even think of attacking unless they use a heavily armored attack themselves.
As a sub zero main (low damage bro) i think if he has the ability to easily pull out 40-50 percent combos with 1 or 2 bars he shouldnt have that kind of block damage at all.

They just need to adjust the chip dmg and meter build with Cyrax, Baraka by itself is just solid.
His mix is also fuzzyable so with time people will have an easier time countering him.
it's great that Baraka is finally a top tier character but not like this, man... i want him to be a GENUINE top tier character, not a top tier character because of a few oversights that allow him to essentially break the mechanics of the game. (ie armor break, insane chip)
I love Baraka and I’ve mained him whenever he’s available and I love to see him be good in this game, but I do want him to get nerfed a little. Maybe have barrage do less damage since it’s the main pressure/combo tool. It does have a gap at the end so if they miss time cyrax it’s a punish. I think he’s fine with his safety because you can take your turn back pretty easily with him but cyrax is a problem.
Baraka doesn't need a nerf, otherwise, quite a few characters would as well.. and that's not the solution imo.
@@asterix1912 I think it’s better to nerf the “top tiers” bc most characters in this game are pretty well balanced. There’s very few I’d say need some help those being nitara and sub zero. Reptile too if you want to get technical but he’s not bad. But yeah kenshi, raiden baraka, they all need some sort of nerf but the biggest culprit is without a doubt cyrax.
@@El_Malanga02 I don't think any of the characters you listed need serious changes. Sub Zero and Nitara are doing just fine and Kenshi, Raiden and Baraka are strong but well balanced in my eyes.
As a scorpion player it makes me sad that I have 2 strings that are actually viable while Baraka literally has a low and overhead starter that are safe on block. Shit is so stupid.
You can actually hit a 2,1 on the ground after air 1,4 and baraka ex down back 1 in the air does give a pretty decent launch if their in a juggle

Nobody needs a nerf, all the other characters should be buffed to match the top tiers.
I don't care that he's strong it's just boring to continually fight one or two characters out of an entire roster of cool characters.
You know you will have a bad time when the other player uses:
- Baraka
- Johny Cage
- Scorpion
- Shang Tsung
With:
. Sareena
. Cyrax
. Sub Zero
hopefully certain characters get adjusted in the next patch.
I main baraka before I learned how busted he was, now everyone gonna think I'm trash just using him.
As a baraka main, IMO, online his combos can be pretty inconsistent. Two balanced nerfs I can think of are make the jump stomp unsafe or maybe a little slower, and nerf the damage a bit

@@chrishandsome7012 well if it wasnt low it wouldn't be a mix up at all. No one uses the alt path that knocks back because it's unsafe and doesn't support his play style. It would just remove barakas one of two low attacks that aren't crouch jabs. The double kick launch is the only mix up he really has. His back punch stab that hits low is fine but it's would be his only low hitting combo starting option, and if we're talking about nerfing his jump stomp and overall damage then baraka would just have one kinda eh mix up that just leads to a basic 30 to 40% combo, and unless every other top character is brought down with him then baraka would plummet to about kitana's level where he's kinda cool and fun to play, but it's not worth playing him competitively

If they just made it so Cyrax's straight Heli-Chopper either costs 2 bars (or remove it entirely) because the straight Heli-Chopper is the problem (other Kameos can make your moves safe on block, but only Cyrax gives you stupid high damage as well) & made it so you can react instead to his strings instead of it being "his turn" all the time then Baraka would be okay.
I wouldn’t say remove. Cyrax should honestly have a lower cooldown also. You get him way too fast
Hey has anyone else besides me notice that you unlock the taunts from when you start the match and when you're walking away and the taunts are? Not in the game because you can unequip the other taunts and you'll still only get the same to.
I wish the game had a "No Kameo" game mode, I guess Baraka would be okay in this.
Not gonna lie, I love Baraka with Kano. It's good, but not OP like Cyrax and a lot of fun to play. It's also different from just seeing Baraka/Cyrax everywhere

Leave Baraka fix Li Mei lanterns, lol. Certain kombos eat her 2nd lantern input and reduce start up frames for the lantern. As soon as that lantern manifests a shape it should be poppable, not just once it leaves her hand. If they added a realism aspect since if something blows up in your hand you would be damaged, then that would mean baraka shooting bones/blades from body would damage him
Honestly, Baraka just needs abunch of his Safe moves to be punishable when u blocking. Lmao like dawg, I ain't complaining about Baraka, but I be THINKING I'm timing my next attack perfectly when I'm Blocking and BAM I throw out an attack I either miss cuz they can IMMEDIATELY Duck or able Block or my attack get disrupted cuz they do another string RIGHT AFTER the attack(s) I blocked. Aaaaaand I guess just decrease certain moves damages and that's pretty much it. And not just Baraka, other certain High Tier Kharacters we of that should get the same treatment.😅👌
You always say, smokes combo damage is not high, but i found a combo with sareena and 1 Bar of Meter which Deals 40 percent (you call on sareena only once) and its safe on Block, because you can Hit confirm it.
It’s hilarious nobody was expecting Baraka to return and he not only returned, but has arguably the most badass design, stole the show in the story mode, and is currently running the meta.
Gotta say though, I’d rather have characters like Baraka being played a ton than Jacqui fucking Briggs and that bitch Cetrion.

I am not debating that Barry is a really solid character. He is I have no doubts on that, but I hate that people keep overhyping him just on his own when Cyrax is mostly the character that helps make him the Barry you hear in legends.
Baraka teamed up with Cyrax is the new Deadly Alliance. You can use other kameos, and still do some crazy stuff, it’s possible. However it is not going to be as damaging, pressurized, nor consistent as Cyrax.
It bugs me cause Baraka is my favorite character in Mortal Kombat of all time. He’s the perfect henchman, and it just annoys me because people will complain about him, but won’t say anything about someone like Johnny Cage. Even though they do almost the exact same thing.

If i’m facing a Baraka, Raiden, or Kenshi, or Smoke i just lose the urge to play the game because people do the same exact shit with these characters it’s like a formula and they’re safe on block on everything so it’s impossible to punish them.
I think that Baraka is the closest thing to an Eddie Gordo of this game, which helps attract newbies and button bashers and makes MK less niche. I'm here for it

I actually enjoy characters to feel powerful. Just buff everyone else or implement a better combo breaker system, for example, one bar to break kameos extended combos 🤔.
Cyrax is the issue not baraka. The kombos can stay the chip is ridiculous

@Trueunderdawg - my thoughts are like yours - i think baraka deaerves his time in the sun *I'm a Li Mei main so not a baraka lover* Cyrax could potentially use a SMALL nerf. The ONLY thing I would change about Baraka is his little kick hop *back 3* to not invalidate armor. I would also make that change to Milena and i could definitely call the two characters balanced then. The hop is reactible and the chip damage is annoying but manageable. Not being able to armor because they simply decided to say no to your wakeup is totally unfair. OR give every other character a way to invalidate armor like Barakas back 3

It’s cyrax that makes Baraka so dangerous. You don’t see any other combination of Kameos for baraka, and even when you see it, it’s significantly weaker than cyrax in combination. I believe cyrax will be nerfed.

Loved Baraka on MK11, I'm kinda happy he is geting the attention he deserves thi time, but I'm also a bit mad that this attention came with the complaints that he is TOO good and deserves to be nerfed. How about nerfing every 40% plus combos from this game? Or maybe nerfing Cyrax because I think he deserves that WAY more than Baraka. A lot of characters in this game seem's broken alongside the right kameo. Like Raiden, who can reach a combo of 100% damage. How the hell is this "normal"? And let's not even talk about Johnny Cage "star meter" or whatever that's called and Kenshi and his THIRD kameo move (the ghost partner) which is stupid AF. Netherealm guys were probably high when they came up with these crazy things.
It feels like I'm starting to hate this game honestly, lack of content among a lot, lot, LOT of other things, broken characters, broken kameos, this game isnt that fun anymore
Its literally just Cyrax. I find Baraka pretty simple to deal with.
Not only is Baraka the coolest character he’s also the most OP
The balance in this game sucks unfortunately. I played 200 KL sets and there are probably like 10 characters i didn´t even fight a single time because everyone just plays top tiers for easy wins. It´s so boring to fight only 4 or 5 characters in 90% of my matches
No nerfs are needed just buff everyone else
