summons? ha. you transform into them. you are the summon.
Clive (the main character) turns into Ifrit, the world is home to giant crystals with each kingdom taking ownership of one of them, the crystals bless a single individual with power that allows them to turn into one of these massive creatures. things happen at the start of the game when the empire attacks Clive's home so now he's out for revenge but ofcourse there's more to this game than just revenge.
Actually (I know, I know) it seems that Clive can channel different summons, but he's mainly attuned to Ifrit. He does fight another Ifrit after all.

The TLDR is the summons have always been a part of FF. Ifrit I think is in all the games. Since none of the FF's are "connected" how they work is not always the same. So this is just how the summons look for this for this game.

One slight correction, summons (as we understamd them) were introduced in Final Fantasy 3. I believe Bahamut is the only one that's been around since 1 (the dragon that grants the class upgrades)

Fun fact: Creative Business Unit III that worked in this is the same production unit that currently works on Final Fantasy XIV and it’s expansions. The producer for Final Fantasy XVI, Naoki Yoshida is also the producer and director for Final Fantasy XIV. He is the one responsible for saving the game after it initially shut down back in 2012. He and his production team fixed it and relaunched Final Fantasy XIV in 2013.
I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIV since the end of 2014 and it’s great. I’ve never stayed with an mmo more than a few months and usually get tired at endgame but it’s amazing
If we got into an mmo it would be FF14 because we heard it can mostly be played single player 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames in my 8 years of playing it I have done most of it solo. Dungeons, trials, and raids have to be done with a group but the matching system (called the duty finder) finds you one and if at the beginning you let them know that you are new or it’s your first time, most people are very kind. You can join a guild (called a free company or fc) but you are not required to. Some of the most difficult endgame raids require you to form your own party before heading in but that is only when they are first released. Eventually you can do them using the duty finder. I highly recommend the game. Some people find the first part up through level 50 a bit of a grind but it definitely picks up after that. My favorite is shadowbringers which is the level 70-80 story arc.
So definitely getting this game and Crisis Core. It looks so damn good. Love the FF series. It's truly amazing and their remastered stuff, perfection. Cannot get enough of Final Fantasy

From what I read, the playable character's transformation is a big deal because for the longest time, it was assumed there was only one Eikon per element, and the Eikon of fire was Phoenix, who choose Joshua. So everyone has trouble wrapping their head around the fact Ifrit also exists.
They know Ifrit exists. Sounds more like Phoenix took his place at some point due to Ifrit being banished.
Good eye on the Nero move. The combat director from Devil May Cry 5 is also working on this game.

It's a synergy between the Eikon, the summoned avatar and the Dominant, the summoner. The Dominants are often genetic, having literally inherited the gift to summon, though this isn't always the case.
Clive's Eikon is Ifrit, the traditional FF symbol of power and battle prowess. Clive is Joshua's protector, and Joshua is the Dominant of Phoenix and heir apparent to the Kingdom of Rosaria.
Other Eikon's are Shiva, eidolon of Ice, which Jill from the first trailer might be the Dominant of. Hugo, the huge dude from Dhalmekia has Titan, an Eikon of Earth. Odin seems to be Eikon of the king of Waloed, the king's flag has Sleipnir on it and Benedikta, the Dominant of Garuda refers to the king being super powerful even among Dominants, which would definitely fit Odin.
Other Eikon's appear in the trailer but don't seem to be aligned to any particular kingdom except the weird robed guy from Sanbreque seems to be like Clive, and able to control more than one Eikon at once. Clive was passed over by Phoenix because of a "Darkness" in him which Ifrit (being a fighty guy) was perfectly fine with. The robed guy can apparently also summon Ifrit which is why you have two fighting in the trailer... and he also has some connection to Bahamut, which we saw in the very first trailer for the game. But he doesn't appear to summon Bahamut, Bahamut seems to summon him... or something.
There's also Ramuh the eikon of lightning, other than purple zapping from Clive's sword we have no idea what his place in the story is.
The guy that seems like a douche is indeed a douche. The Empire executes Dominants at birth and has open designs on taking over the world.
Clive might be both ifrits.... "a 2nd Eikon of fire thats impossible"
So the character bios were added to the website after the new trailer dropped. This games Cid is the one traveling with Clive and he is the Dominant of Ramuh, you can see him using the lightning in the latest trailer. Shiva's Dominant was shown in the last two trailers, but her name was never given. However it was confirmed with the new character bios that it is an older Jill. Bahamut's Dominant is the Empire's Prince. Clive is Ifrit of course, but there's some debate over the identity of "Black Ifrit". Some people are currently speculating that the robed man in the trailers actually doesn't exist. He's like an apparition inside of Clive, a manifestation of Ifrit that is fighting for control over Clive. It could also just be the antagonist. Like I said, lots of debate over that. The true great evil that every Final Fantasy has is speculated to be Diablos, and some including myself are convinced that Torgal, the wolf, is the Dominant of Fenrir. That being said, Fenrir has in no shape or form been confirmed for the game so that is entirely speculation based on the fact that Torgal seems special and holds his own against even the strongest opponents, that and being a wolf instead of a dog.
Also it's the Iron Kingdom that kills Dominants either at birth or when they're discovered. Their religion see's Eikon's as curses and blights, so they kill the Dominant's to free them from that curse. The Iron Kingdom shares a border with Rosaria and wars over the crystal Drake's Breath which produces Phoenix. It's entirely possible that the reason Ifrit has never been seen before is because its Dominant kept appearing in the Iron Kingdom and thus was killed before its existence could become known. It's never stated as impossible for a Crystal to produce more than one Eikon. Simply that two of the same element have never been seen before. The current running theory is that Duke Rosfield's wife, or possibly first wife, fled from the Iron Kingdom and was Ifrit's Dominant. She then married the Duke and gave birth to Clive, and Ifrit passed to him probably after her death. Because Phoenix is the only known Eikon to be produced from Drake's Breath, they never suspected Clive had an Eikon, especially after it manifested in Joshua, the Duke's second born son. Also it's hinted at that Benedikta, Garuda's Dominant, has a history with Ifrit, which means it has manifested before Clive but is for reasons beyond just the Iron Kingdom hiding it, unknown to the world at large.
As for Jill, she and Torgal are from the Northern Territories, very little of which has been revealed. One can assume it's a snowy region, so her becoming Shiva's Dominant, if she wasn't already as a child, makes perfect sense. Cid appears to be a wanderer, so his possession of Ramuh is likely not common knowledge unlike the other Eikon's.
@@nihren2406 Square has flatly stated that Clive can summon more than one Eikon so the real question becomes is that genetic or is it created, given that Clive looks completely different than the rest of the royal family.
Rosaria may have made a deal in the past to keep their sovereignty that is now biting them in the ass. Hugo also has a clear personal problem with Rosaria and Iron Kingdom, so there's definitely something going on in the big picture.
@@TwoSevenX Clive looks just like his father the Duke. Joshua is the one that looks different than both of them, but that could easily be explained by either their shared mother being blonde OR Joshua has a different mother as I originally theorized. I don't think it's ever explicitly stated that Eikon's are inherited genetically. The Crystal's merely "bless" someone with them, typically someone within a certain radius of the Crystal, within its influence. Both Iron Kingdom and Rosaria exist within the radius of Drake's Breath, though the Crystal itself is squarely in the Iron Kingdom's territory. Rosaria has a rule of law that whoever inherits the Eikon Phoenix is made the next Duke. So it's not even a continuous family line unless fortune smiles on the family and members are repeatedly blessed with Phoenix. It's implied that this has simply been the case and why it was expected that Clive would inherit Phoenix and become the next Duke. He is the strongest swordsman in the Duchy. Joshua being the one to inherit Phoenix came as a shock to everyone. Per law, Joshua became next in line to be Duke rather than Clive.
As for Hugo, his bio states that he's the wealthiest man in the Kingdom's. You don't get that way easily, even as a Dominant. He's probably cut some shady deals and had his hand in all kinds of unsavory matters.

Theres so much consistency to final fantasy that in the final trailer when you see the ice shards emerging from the ground in the battle, those attacks have been in the game for over 20 years now. Those details matter

The producer and director for Final Fantasy 16 Naoki Yoshida is also the same producer and director who saved the Final Fantasy 14 online from its abysmal 2010-2011 launch and remade the game in a span of 2 years and released in 2013 to very positive reception and still holding strong till this day as one of the top MMO games available on the market.
You both have already seen the trailers for it's base game and expansions.
The writers for 14's Heavensward expansion also wrote the story for 16 and a lot of fans are excited to play it.
They went from normal RPG to action badass RPG combat game
Indeed, the fact they have a DMC dev working on the combat is also a good sign it'll be more than just flashy as well.

this is a more classic inspired type of final fantasy story just for context the producer of the game said he wanted to go back to alot of the early concepts of the franchise like focus on the summons (the big monsters) and one of the biggest selling points is that we actually have a kaiju battle sort of thing in the game where you basicly have Summon on Summon battles.
the so called Dominants are basicly people who can transform into the Summons think of it almost as a Attack on Titan type of thing

Final Fantasy XVI is my most anticipated game for 2023. And I try not to pre-order games, but I broke my rule and pre-ordered the $100 Physical deluxe edition of the game. I'm that excited for it.

The summon creatures aka The EIKONs that appeared here are :
EFREET = The fire Eikon , the main character transformed into it. (Definitely Not Balrog)
SHIVA = The Ice Eikon (the lady of ice).
RAMUH = The Lightning Eikon (The Eikon form has not shown in the trailer you watched) but he is Cidolfus (aka Cid), the man who use lightning attack in the trailer.
TITAN = The Huge Baldy man. The Earth Eikon.
ODIN = The Darkness Eikon (The one riding 6 legged horse)
Darkness is Bahamut, not Odin.

This FInal Fantasy is going to be the most action packed gameplay of the franchise. That's because the combat designer of this one is the responsable for the combat in Devil May Cry 5 :D
Final Fantasy with Devil May Cry 5 combat system + Eikons battle is really an extraordinary game, maybe it will be the best FF series

play many final fantasy games loved the music to the games like the hymn of the faith in Final Fantasy 10 but always love how they have some in the games as the summons like Shiva, Ifrit Bahamut. and Odin. Also there is a movie called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children which got characters from the game Final Fantasy 7 like Yuffie, Cloud, Aerith and Tifa

Summons have been a part of the saga for many games. In this one they clearly play a very important role in the story and the protagonist is a summoner with the power to summon/become ifrit, one of the most classic and well-known summons in the saga. But in the trailer you see other summons, some better known than others.
So on the one hand the game has a game of thrones style with political intrigues and on the other hand it has battles between giant monsters capable of trampling entire armies without any problem.
The music in this game is insane.
The most recent trailer was great on several fronts, because it kind of implies that SquareEnix is listening to some of the fanbase criticisms and concerns. Specifically, they made sure to showcase a few scenes of the companion group, as opposed to just Clive fighting solo like in the previous trailers. (the notion of having no party members was a big concern, as it would be a huge deviation from Final Fantasy's core formula as a franchise.) Showing scenes with more of a group dynamic was a good call.
...Also, note how they made sure to show that you can pet the dog. They know whats important. Lol

Wow I hadn’t seen that second trailer yet. Loved seeing all the Ikon holders just going all out at one another. In the game, it’ll probably sadly be a bunch of reasonable and likeable people with good motivations and intentions forced into conflict due to their positions as human weapons for their respective nations.
FFX would be a good one to start from. Depending on which FFVII there may require supplemental material before.

Not a ton of story or characters there but it's a fun look at how far From Software has come since their days when this was their main series before the Souls games hit their stride. AC was one of my favorite series as a kid and I'm super happy to see that a new one is coming out.

Final Fantasy fans been eating good of late.
This and Dragon's Dogma 2 are pretty much the only things I'm looking forward to. It feels kinda weird, I'm not really an FF guy but this year the only new thing I liked was as Strangers of Paradise a prequel of sorts to the first game and next year is the latest entry.
It's extra weird now because I've never really liked RPGs but then some of my favorite games in recent years are RPGs.
For your first FF game, I recommend FF10 for sure. For 7 I recommend the original one and not the Remake, since the Remake is just part one of three where the original FF7 from ‘97 is the full story. 9 is pretty fun too for beginners.

Fimal Fantasy trailers are always very impressive. It got me into playing FF13 and 15, while they are very different from the trailers. If you guys check out older trailers i recommend a few FF13 ones.

The narrative elements of every mainline FF game are connected, just reused in different ways as if they were alt. universes or something. Crystals, Summons/Eidolons, same magic spells, same weapons like Ultima Weapon, monsters, names of countries, Chocobos etc
It's like a Rubiks Cube they just remix these elements in different ways and come out with a different result whether it's a European medieval fantasy like this game, more modern like 15 or a futuristic steampunk like 7.

If you play a final fantasy, I recommend that you start with the final fantasy 7 remake since it is a good story and it is not necessary to learn the other titles because it is a very separate story😃
I'm quite hyped for FFXVI but sadly won't get to play it until it's on PC.
This is easily by leaps and bounds Ifrit's best showing in the franchise. No longer the early-game jobber, Final Fantasy 15 and 16 have been doing everything they can to make Ifrit the larger-than-life fire god that he was always meant to be.
What is important to remember is that summons in Final Fantasy were always meant to be something akin to godly powers, not just enhanced black magic. Like, Ifrit isn't just a big fire spell, Ramuh is not just a big lightning spell. These are powerful deities, important beings with lore and histories all their own.
And if they show up to a battle, they are meant to humble any mere mortals that stand in their presence. The world shall part before Odin, the heavens will freeze before Shiva, the earth bend before Titan. 16 is going to be a *wild* trip just for that alone.
If I had to throw a recommend for a first Final Fantasy: *please* play 10 before 16. As Final Fantasy games go, 10 is a bit on the shorter side and isn't bogged down by a large amount of side content. I advise having a guide on hand for the temple puzzles, as they are how you get access to a powerful Aeon, but otherwise it is a good game to really show the importance of summoning in the series.
9 is probably the second-best summon-centric Final Fantasy to build hype for 16, but it is definitely longer than 10 so it will be more difficult to squeeze into the schedule. 14 is probably the absolute best, as every individual summon has a chapter in the main story, but 14 is an MMO and likely off the table entirely for that reason alone. There might be good story summary videos out there, though. I'll have to look around for them.

In case you were confused in this game the FF summons ( Ifrit , Odin , Phoenix, Titan , Shiva , Bahamut , and Ramuh ) are referred to as Eikons and can only be summoned by dominants. Dominants are people chosen by the mother crystal(s) to utilize the Eikons power but using this powers kills the user ( it even hurts to summon them) which each use. Each kingdom has an Eikon and dominants are treated as royalty , evil beings to be executed upon discovery or slaves to be used by kingdoms to wage war.
If the gameplay looks similar to Devil May Cry 5 it's because it's the same combat director. And yeah the main character turns into Ifrit. He's fighting the other 'dominants' or humans who also turn into massive beasts like Shiva and Garuda.
It looks awesome as heck but I just gifted myself a Strong PC... ill be waiting it to drop on steam around 1 or 2 years later. (If it ever do drop)

It look really good, I'm excited to see how many of the classic "summons" will appear. Like we know that the main character you play as can turn into Ifrit, the grey haired girl can turn into Shiva, the blonde woman can turn into Garuda, the black haired stern looking guy can turn into Odin, the big bald guy is Titan, Joshua is the Phoenix, and the old-ish guy with all the lightning is Ramuh.
But theres many more that could be around, surely Bahamut is around. I think the blond adult guy we barely see in these trailers is something aswell, maybe the Knight of the Round.
At the end of one of these trailers we see a painting which looks like it has Chaos in it, I'm guessing thats the big bad. The guy in the hood who glows red is probably Bahamut whos the lackey of Chaos maybe.

Contrary to what people say, FF7 Remake is probably NOT a good entry point to the series. I would say don't listen toa single person that says it's good to start with. 😂 It has the word "Remake" in the title but it's not actually a remake at all. It's closer to sequel to the old PS1 game as you would have to have some knowledge of the other games in the compilation FF7. (Some people will tell me I'm wrong and it's totally ok, but seriously the entire climax expects you to have already played the original for the plot twist to make sense)
I will however agree that Final Fantasy X in undoubtedly perfect for newcomers. The story is straight forward, the turn-based combat genuinely easy to learn, and since a majority of the mainline entries are their own self-contained stories, you won't feel too pressured by learning/knowing anything from other games. So, you can easily start with that one. It's also a fantastic love story. 😁
FF16 also falls under the category of a game that you can easily start with.

I like all your reactions in the channel...I'm a big Final Fantasy Fan...you should definitely check the the Final Fantasy XIII,XIII-2 and Lightning Returns trailers...and all trailers of Final Fantasy XV (late versus XIII) 🙂
FF7 Remake is highly recommended. If you get it in before 16 releases, the gameplay looks similar and will prep you for 16. 6 and 7 were the first ones that really struck a cord in the west. 7 more so.
Final fantasy is a long game series that's been hit or miss for me personally. Some of their games are awesome and some not so much in my opinion. In my humble opinion, Final Fantasy X and Final fantasy 7 are the very best Final fantasy games ever made. Those two Final fantasy games had the very best characters and the very best story.
