This bahamut is very significant since this is the first one to use Zeta Flare, one of the strongest attacks in Final Fantasy. The only time we ever see a Zeta Flare in action was from a duck mind you guys

When you find out what happened after the fight, that moment with the flower unfurling in the Bahamut fight is such a beatuiful and sad moment upon rewatching it. The little details are amazing, I am going to enjoy rewatching the game and appreciating the storytelling moments.

All the eikon battles were godly. But that bahamut fight. That was something on another level.

Not all, Odin fight was a let down.
It was just another Barnabus fight for the 4th time. It could've been the best, but ended up being mediocre 😪

I would like to take a second to point out how epic the soundtrack to each fight was.
I saw a chatter ask "Why isn't Jill helping"
Last time she used Shiva the curse got a good grip on her, so she is tryna lay off of it as much as possible. Keep in mind, Joshua and Clive against Bahamut are fighting *wayyyyyy* more fierce than Jill did against Liquid Flame.
I can't wait for Ifrit and Shiva to pop off together though!!

This game deserves game of the year.
Some little things I noticed playing FFXVI, being a FFXIV player myself :
- The victory fanfare you get when you clear fights is mostly male chorus while the FFXIV one is mostly female chorus. The female chorus in FFXIV felt more like a cry of hope for overcoming a great obstacle while the male chorus definitively feels like the conclusion of a rampage.
- When Clive is being called to "Awaken, Child of Fate", this line in most FF games is usually one where some kind of heroic or hopeful music plays in the background as the chosen one(s) are intended to save the world. In this case, Ifrit is instead pictured as a destroyer and destined to end the world, making the "Child of Fate" line much darker.
- Unlike most FF games, your goal is to destroy the crystals instead of saving them. Likewise, usually Crystals are pictured as providing power to the world whereas in this setting, they're actually power siphons slowly killing the world.
- Ifrit vs Garuda and Clifrit vs Ifrit Shadowed, the controls are simple, sluggish and his attacks are brutish while later on, Ifrit controls more like Clive normally, albeit as a super powered version of himself, showing he's actually growing used to controlling his eikon.
- Each time Ifrit uses Hellfire, it is a call back to another FF's own version of the ability / casting animation.
- Clive fighting his shadow is reminiscent of FF4's Cecil and FFXIV's Dark Knight questline. Basically, Cecil has to fight his own dark self (his dark knight) to fully embrace his Paladinhood usually by letting the Dark Knight kill itself by abusing their Darkness abilities whereas FFXIV's Dark Knight is a matter of accepting your darkness as a part of yourself to keep it from going rampant, both of which are pictured as Clive enduring an onslaught of very powerful abilities that are very similar to those he uses as well as earning the Limit Break when he finally accepts he is Ifrit and stop projecting his pain.
- Ifrit in most FF games is pictured as a rampaging beast which Clive is the first few times he turns into his Eikon form. It's also usually one of the first Eikon that the player sees and/or fight which you do at the very beginning of the game, controlling Phoenix as you fight off Ifrit.
- The song during Garuda's fight has leitmotif of the one from FFXIV which is a nice touch. Most eikons have a leitmotif of a past FF game related to that Summon / Esper / Primal.
- Titan Lost looks a lot like E4 Titan, albeit without the gears.
- The comment that Clifrit says when he supposedly finally defeat Titan Lost ("And this game... is over!") is a call back to the intro where Hugo says something about the game being over in the meeting.
- You fight Titan in 4 phases : his semi-prime form, his normal phase, his uber giant phase and the phase where you're in a free-falling brawl.
- Titan being tough as shit, showing that yes, Titan is incredibly durable... doubly so because Hugo is utterly berserk with rage.
- Bahamut using its different levels of -flare attacks, each one being exponentially more powerful than the last, showing that like in FFXIV, it very well could bring a calamity / end of the world event by itself.
- Most depictions of the strongest Bahamut abilities in FF games have it fly into space to use it; whenever Bahamut in FFXVI uses a new tier of -flare attack, he happens to be flying higher than the last when he first uses it.
- Zettaflare was a non-canon level of -flare ability that only appeared in Kingdom Hearts, used by Donald Duck (aka, the group's mage). It either means that Bahamut in most settings never had the opportunity to use Zettaflare or was never pushed far enough to do so as it was literally a world-ending level of power. That FFXVI's Bahamut uses it while going on a rampage could also mean that it is possible other Bahamuts could use Zettaflare it but never did since they knew it was an attack that could end the world if they did.
- When Bahamut absorbs the crystal and Phoenix sets up the barrier and it gets broken almost instantly, a good call back to Louisoix (aka the Phoenix) shielding something or someone dear to him much in the same manner.
- Ifrit and Phoenix being the two symbolic and opposing representations of what fire is usually seen in cultures : it is both a destroyer when it goes wild (Ifrit) but also a source of comfort and hope when controlled (Phoenix). So that Ifrit and Phoenix can fuse together makes sense as they are two parts of the same whole.
- Clive doesn't seem to have a clear counterpart to a FFXIV job but an amalgam of their features, mostly centered around FFXIV Summoners. He can channel Eikons / Primals through himself but instead of calling them into combat and focusing entirely on ranged spells, he instead uses them through his own attacks. Likewise, each eikon seems to be flavored towards one or more FF job.
- Odin being pictured as a very patient entity that usually doesn't go into excess; the Dominant of Odin spends most of the game in the background, seemingly waiting until everything falls in place and most early encounters end after he uses a single attack or single use of Zantetsuken.
- Depictions of Odin in other FF games usually do not have the flashiness of other Eikons / Primals / Espers/ Summons; unlike those, encounters with Odin are usually a timed event which automatically leads to a loss if you take too long to fight him (or even reach him in some cases). This means that despite having Eikons like Titan or Bahamut having very destructive abilities, Odin's own is simply "I cut, you lose" which is simple and efficient which in a way is as terrifying or moreso than more outwardly destructive Eikons.
- Zantetsuken splitting the sea and it remaining in place for a while is its ability to cut reality itself; the reason the sea remains split is that the natural laws of the world have effectively been split until it comes back; *the sea literally doesn't know it should collapse on itself*.

Tbh. I've watched a lot of reviews at this point and it's like a lot of reviewers dropped the game before they got to post Cid when it opens up a lot more. Even someone like ACG, who I respect immensely, was saying things that just don't seem that true or that big of an issue when in context. However, I think he was being slightly purposefully more critical on the game because there are a lot of firsts for the series and he hopes to see the minor things actually improved on in a sequel or in DLC
There are definite good critiques like the game taking longer to get into the meat of the game than even 10 or 13 did. There is a little too many, "this is just an intro to a system" moments, throughout the game that last a little too long
Because the gameplay is crap? It's mostly just pretty visuals.

if you didn't skip the controls on ifrit risen you would have seen he had a teleport dash.
the flying looks cooler than teleport tho, no ?

This is actually average. Eikon fights are boring. Titan fight phase 3 actually infuriated me. After 2 phases of boring clicking I thought the fight's over, but they actually made me killing him 1 more time during the fall. That scene was so stupid....

I mean, it takes more than amazing boss fights and spectackles to get a high score. I personally think 7/10 would be fitting, as I found the normal gameplay loop very boring and unappealing and even the main story between the high points was very low. After Bahamut fight, the game took such a radical nosedive that I had trouble picking up the game again for couple of days as I was so bored of the sidequests, the way they handled the zones and the general atmosphere of bland piano rearrangements and lots and lots of pointless talking. Not to mention the way Barnabas as a character was handled... The story just lost me at that point. All the things I had been looking forward to weren't there; no RPG progression, no visiting the cool locations they advertised on the trailers (Oriflamme+Twinside) and I'm not talking about the ruined stage-dungeons we visit the cities as, the lack of reason to explore the zones (all you ever find are crafting materials you'll never use and potions). Etc., etc.
It just shows how jaded and selfish we’ve become when it comes to video games. If they showed this game 10 years ago, our minds would literally implode 😂

And Ifrit Risen is stronger than both of them, being able to tank zettaflare like it's no big deal.

I can see why the FFXIV content has been so stale lately as this game was being developed, perfected, and released. This game is fucking legendary. The Titan and Bahamut fight are EVERYTHING.
It’s a very long game and has alot of talking people won’t get far because of that and they are missing out wow are these some of the most epic fights I’ve very played though oh man

I always trying to pause to see the bahamut spear like wow the dev move from the original bahamut anthromorphic design with wyvern like design but this time it has somekind of spears.
Also Donald no longer the only one that can use zettaflare.
PS: is not like i don't like the 16 bahamut, i actually like it, unique design summon always makes me want to see it close hand

ALL of these fights had me grinning from ear to ear. Were some of them super hard no not really. but I cannot deny that they were FUN. Difficutly != fun. Challenge != fun. THis is a "fantasy" game and I definitely dreamt about doing this kind of stuff XD.
Good thing then if you want a challenge you can do NG+ on harder difficulties.
Play these encounters in ultimaniac mode, and you will realise that it is no longer fantasy but absolute hell.

Sephiroth Supernova caused the sun to go well supernova destroying most of the plants but Zetaflare !!! it straight up annihilates a galaxy
before 16 strongest Bahamut ultimate was Exaflares and only Donald from KH was ever known to use Zetaflare
even in crisis core alone the Exaflare destroys the moon and use it as a base to charge up the Exaflare, but we never get to know the damage it does to the world because well the game will end if it destroys the world.

Zettaflare is one of the strongest magic spells in the Final Fantasy series. And this version of Bahamut is the first one to use this.

I was wondering why they called Akh Morn 'Mortal Coil' here, but that's actually a decent, slight variation of the Eorzean translation of it: Fated Death.

Insta skipped all tooltips so he never used a burst finish vs typhon, then skipped em again so he didnt know about lightspeed and just did the whole bahamut fight using ranged attacks. 😂 wtf
Crazy to think Donald Duck could case a Zettaflare. Makes sense when you think about how much the Duck doesn’t heal you and stores up his MP.
The only fight I felt lacking was Odin's, the rest were just awesome
The Odin fight was more about Clive vs Barnabas and while it was lacking in sheer spectacle it made up for by being the best of the Dominant fights especially on the higher difficulties.

I was surprised to find out the music is not scripted at all. The timing for the zettaflare wings 1:37:54 and when he unleashes zettaflare 1:38:15 is phenomenal
Odin fight was crazy too, not quite a mountain battle or space battle, but he left me on the brink of a game over, he was a hard fight.
i loved that fight, when he turns into his eikon form in the last phase the music synced up perfectly for me
went in the fight with no heals so I was pretty sweaty afterwards.

ive noticed that a lot of the streamers didn't use his light speed much at all..if you press X you would isntantly teleported right to him lol
Keep in mind that Bahamut needed to absorb all that energy and took a bit of time to cast Zetta flare. Donald Duck can cast that shit on command and have it come out in seconds.
This is game of the century to me hands down the point game that makes feel some type of way after each eikon battle f...... 👏🏽

i like how they Did Odin as damn powerfu and the Last Dominant king to defeat, as Odin lived a damn long life of immortality. Clive defeated him alone.
But for Bahamut, as its a young Dominant holds it, requires both Clive and Joshua's power combined just to make him unconsious. The game just shows why Bahamut is the Dreadwrym King. Imagine Dion living for another hundreds of years, he would be unstoppable, even Clive probably wouldnt have the chance to stop him.

I like how I can feel some regret from the people not buying this game after hearing the godteir soundtracks and animations. Story for me was odd but that's also because ff16 was the first game I've seen of the series. The way Clive accepted ifrit in that fight kinda felt... dry? But then again maybe I'm missing a big part is his journey of acceptance from the last games so it isn't as impact full for me yet.

Tera = Trillions (10^12)
Each level of flare, if you take the mathematical interpretation literally, is a thousand times stronger than the last.
Except Zetaflare.
Zeta = Sextillions (10^21)
*Zetaflare is ONE BILLION times stronger than Teraflare*
