This may be common knowledge by now but after reading your comment I can't resist. Now, bear in mind Mr. Reynolds was well aware of his resemblance to Marlon Brando. Burt said in an interview about the first time he met Brando in a restaurant. Burt walked up to him and said something like it's an honor to meet you, that sort of thing. Brando reacted by rolling his eyes and waving him off. Burt said he grew the mustache the next day.
Funniest flik I ever saw, when I get bummed I go back and pick a clip in my head that made me laugh with are the 100% of the clips that made this flik.😂😂😂😂😂😂
The first recruit character was called Sonny, the second character, Indian's real name was Sonny...Sonny Sixkiller, former college and pro quarterback.
But Kiel and the Big Show suffered from gigantism (aka acromegaly), which caused their extremities to be even larger to the proportion of their bodies. I know, since I also suffer from acromegaly.
I am only 5 foot 10, growing only an inch 1/2 from high school. I got acromegaly as an adult (onset between the ages of 25-30). My shoe size at 18 was 10 1/2. Now it is 13. I have all the outward signs of acromegaly (huge hands/feet/head/jaw/etc.). I look very much like Andre the Giant's Mini Me. Wish I had got it during puberty, so I could have been 7 feet tall, too. Might have made it worth having.
The 2005 version wasn't so much of a reboot as much as it was a tribute. Most of the characters' names didn't even stay the same. You can't really reboot a sports movie
I think this movie was better than the Adam Sandler version. Sorry, But Adam Sandler does not convince me of being an ex-pro football player. Did Sandler ever play football? Burt Reynolds was the real McCoy. Played College football. Real life playboy. He kind of played himself in this movie.
actually it looked like a single bar from a bench press carrying 35lbs weights- 4 on each side plus avg weight of bar around 40 lbs. Looks like 320 lbs to me. I think at 7 foot 2 and hands that big he could do that in his thirties-doesn't seem that unbelievable to me....,
Richard Kiel was so cool! And so was Burt. Sad they're both gone...
It's quite astonishing how much Burt Reynolds without Mustash looks like young Marlon Brando 0:02 !
﴾ Ŧhe other Side of Story ﴿ he’s more like Sean Connery.

Your right !
Rest in Peace, Mr. Kiel!
He played The Best Bond henchman Jaws
That guy throwing the Hay Bails was funny as Hell.!!! LOL!
Who is the actor?
@@nintenofan I think that is Sonny Shroyer, who later was a featured character on The Dukes of Hazzard.
That's because his acting was so bad.
When Jaws wants to play on your football team you just say "welcome aboard."

RIP Burt....Massive legend...maybe the biggest....
Aww yeah, my boi Jaws!!

Sonny Sixkiller played for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts in the early 70's
@@davidbuswa9425 He's currently the athletic director at Washington State University.

Samson huh? Don't cut your hair.
That was MAYBE 150 pounds..............even with the bar itself.
Yes the plates weren't big enought to be 400 pounds.
Hilarious when Sunny Sixkiller says How lol. I don't think the younger generation of today would get the joke...
Richard Kiel has hands the size of a catchers mitt. Just the size of Big Show's hands!
Richard was 7 feet tall and Paul is just under that, you are going to have large hands.
But Kiel and the Big Show suffered from gigantism (aka acromegaly), which caused their extremities to be even larger to the proportion of their bodies. I know, since I also suffer from acromegaly.
kyokogodai If i may ask,how tall are you?

Sonny Sixkiller, the Indian, played quarterback for the University of Washington in the early 1970s.

0:24 do you know how heavy hay bales are XD
I think the ones Tannen is throwing are supposed to be 180lbs. each
On a real farm those haybales Tannen throws would weigh 180 pounds each!
A great movie !!
Sonny. He is the best.
Doesn't even look like him until he smiles :) That smile is unmistakable!
RIP Eegah
It great seeing this film at that the Jerry Lewis theater on Somerville Circle in New Jersey back in 74.
Oh mr larson
Those hands seemed large even on him!
Try not to make any ethnic jokes
Indian: How
I thought that was Michael Shannon for a second.
The first guy he’s pretty damn strong 💪
It's Mean Machine not Longest Yard
Real tough guy movie . Plus actors who could act , not like the steroided out actors of today.
Yeah, they should have all got Oscars for this quality acting..........

Adam Sandler’s version was way funnier
Lil Gravy The original wasn't supposed too be funny like the remake
if you think you should go listen to Katie Perry Lady ga ga ....
I beg to differ. Nothing beats the original. Besides, Mean Machines with Vinny Jones was way more funnier than that Sandler remake.
