    Here's what Marvin Sr. said tearfully in court: "If I could bring him back, I would. I thought I was going to get hurt. I didn't know what was about to happen. I'm really sorry for everything that happened. I loved him. I wish he could step through this door right now. I'm paying the price now". Marvin Sr, you never loved your son. You caused brutal pain his whole life. How can you love your son after all you've been through?

      Marvin kept drug dealers and drug addicts at his parents house during that time. Made his parents home uncomfortable. Marvin putting his hands on Marvin Senior was the final straw. I think you need to do your research.

      Marvin attacked his father FIRST! Even his mother said that! She was the one who went to bail Marvin Sr out of jail! PLUS, Marvin was suicidal! His father once said: if any of his kids EVER raised their hand to hit him then, he would kill him or her! His sister was the one who reiterated what his father told them

      Marvin Gaye wasn't exactly the best son you could have. I know a lot of people don't see this because he was a great singer, but damn people, open your eyes. He didn't deserve getting shot, though. Especially by his dad.

    • @aprildannette9820
      @aprildannette9820 Před 7 lety +55

      His dad abused him way before he ever got on drugs Marvin probably got on drugs because his daddy made his childhood such hell come on Ralph no Marvin Jr was not perfect but look what he had to live with his whole life a father who openly hated him

      April Dannette It's easy to blame all his life problems and the failures he had on his dad. And when his dad shot him, the media took over and started to blame the dad for everything. Seems to me they needed a scapegoat to clear Marvin Jr's name and his dad was a nice, juicy target.
      Now, I know how people today think (they love twisting your words and get shit out of context) so let me be clear. I do NOT think his dad was right for shooting him. I do NOT think his dad didn't deserve to be jailed for the rest of his life. What I DO think, however, is that his dad got blamed for everything that went wrong in his life and that Marvin Jr was basically declared a saint after his death.
      A nice example of this is the line you wrote ""...Marvin probably got on drugs because his daddy made his childhood such hell..." The word "probably" is exactly what I mean.
      People assume his dad is to blame for all of it, because hey, the old man did shoot him.

    The prince of soul, Marvin Gaye pushed the limits of rhythm and blues like no artist before him. He left behind a great musical legacy and more than 9 million dollars in debts due to not paying his back taxes and child support. He also attempted suicide five times because of his depressive drug habit and paranoia. His financial problems was a result of buying illegal drugs, extorting money from music promoters, not paying bills that were due; and going a massive spending spree after the release of his three albums. My sources are from the Reelz Documentary. good video.

I saw a documentary about him and family said that the last few days of Marvin's life he spent in his pajamas and bath robe, snorting cocaine, watching pornography and reading the Bible, so he was very troubled indeed!!
