I worked at a dental office in the 90’s. We were told, by an oral surgeon we referred a patient to, that the patient had full blown aids. The assistant, that usually prepped him, freaked out when he came into the office for follow up. The office was small and I was empathetic to what the patient may have been feeling. I told her she had already assisted him unknowingly, and this time she can take the necessary precautions. She kept freaking out. I snatched his chart and said I’d do it. I did not want him to feel worse than he already did.

@@TheEsquireofSports212I was a new, young Nurse in the mid 1980's. HIV/AIDS was a death sentence then. My very first Nursing assignment was on a HIV/AIDS unit and I can remember how my patients with HIV/AIDS suffered so terribly, the virus ravaged their bodies, they looked like skeletons even though they were still alive. And the weakness..... They were sooooo weak....I used to help them get on the bedside commode, from the bed to the commode right next to the bed, and they were so weak... often they would die just sitting on the commode or sitting up in bed....the smallest movement would push them over the edge and they would die so quickly. HIV/AIDS is NO JOKE and people need to take this virus SERIOUSLY. Nowadays, people have become willy nilly about this virus and we have minimized it's danger by calling HIV/AIDS a CHRONIC disease and now we have medications and PreExposure Prophylaxis but I tell you, having HIV /AIDS is NO JOKE. Take this virus seriously, use protection and be careful who you lie down with. This is a tragic virus and still very dangerous.

I watch her die and she always made me promise I wouldn't cry around her so the day she died we had a tornado that knocked out the power and it didn't start until I got the call. I felt my heart being pulled out my body I just locked myself in the bathroom and woke up the next morning believing it was a dream I went into depression for 4 days not eating are anything. That's interesting...my brother's wife passed it to him and she passed before he did. I did hate her for a little while...but, ultimately as adults we have to take responsibility for our decisions. There were some blaring red flags with her that he couldn't see or ignored. If I could've warned him when he met her.....he didn't bring her around until it was too late. 😢

@@jearl3054 I'm not sure why you felt it was necessary to focus upon something unflattering about him, when in fact he was soo much more. Your narrow perspective undermines his true talent and the magnitude of his presence. He was Human. His attributes included such magnificent qualities such as affectionate, agreeable, ambitious, brave, bright, broad-minded, charming, compassionate, creative, determined, dynamic, easygoing, emotional, frank, friendly, funny, gentle, good, hard-working, honest, intelligent, intuitive, inspiring, kind, loving, loyal, modest, neat, optimistic, passionate, pioneering, philosophical, quick-witted, rational, reliable, sincere, sympathetic, thoughtful, tough, unassuming, understanding, versatile and warmhearted 💝An absolute gift.

It’s sad so many died right before protease inhibitors became available. Those meds literally turned AIDS from a death sentence to a chronic, but manageable illness.

It's so sad that most of these people on this list were very YOUNG. They didn't even get to live long lives because of this disease. Rest in paradise to all of them🤍🕊️

A lot of people who passed from AIDS in the 80s due to little info being known about the disease back then. A lot people contracted the disease via blood transfusions because there was no way to test the blood during that era. Thank God AIDS research has come along way since then and many people who have the disease can live long productive lives.

I was a young adult in the 80's and early 90's. I use to watch Howard Rollins Jr., in the television series "In The Heat of the Night". I always thought he was a great actor and wondered why he no longer had television roles. I was so heart broken when I discovered he had died of Aids in the hospital.😢 I also discovered how he was disrespected by his colleagues and fellow actors and actresses that he had worked with in different shows and movies. He deserved better treatment by his "friends" in the industry. Mr. Rollins may you rest in peace in the loving arms of Christ Jesus.
