There are 3 main stages of puppy development:
    1. Sentient potato
    2. Baby demon that crawled out of hell into your living room and it's your child now
    3. Yup that's a dog

"Crying every half hour in the bathroom because you just can't take it anymore" is so real. I felt so stupid in the first month owning my then 10week old toy poodle. He was already like, a dream dog - he isn't destructive, he's super cuddly, he's perceptive and eager to please. AND YET I would still be crying because I googled myself into a hole of "If I don't do xyz suggested on this site, I must be a bad owner." It's crazy the pressures we put on ourselves.
I'm really glad I found this video which is empathetic to the human side of the struggle. So many times I'm looking at videos for "how to get over dog ownership anxiety" and all I find is "calm anxious dogs with this music" LOL

I love you. You are the most honest and transparent dog trainer I've seen. Having a puppy has been one of the hardest things I have done, your video greatly encouraged me and made me feel less alone!

I don’t care if your not religious but as I’m sitting in my bathroom crying about wtHeck did I do getting this dog, i asked God to help me and I found your video and it sounded like you were talking straight to me. I already feel like I ruined her and I’ve only had her three weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️😭 I’ve paid so much money to enroll her in training just for me to break down and get frustrated I’m thinking of rehoming her. Now I just want to tell her I’m sorry and let her be a puppy for a day while I get my shit together. Thank you! Thank you so much.

I got a 4 month old puppy after my newborn (4th child) turned 3 months old. Fast forward, the puppy is now 9months old and I feel regret on getting this dog EVERYDAY. Got him for my kids and he's constantly getting in trouble. His favorite is chewing on stuff when his bone is right next to him or trying to run to the neighbors house while going potty. Who wants my English bulldog? The hardest thing for me is telling the breeder we want to return him.

I have a rescue dog from Bulgaria. He is 2 years old. My boyfriend was in love when we saw him, I was’t feeling it. But because he is the perfect dog on paper and my boyfriend is in love, we have adopted him. I like the dog and he is doing great, but I miss the love-feeling. He is here now for 13 days. I really wants to feel the love feeling… thank you for your videos, it can be a lonely feeling…

I had like 30 minutes of honeymoon, then he vomited on me during the car ride home. It was a very bad and stressful couple days but the following week or so was fine and felt like we were going to work through his problems just fine. He didn't start acting like a jerk until like two weeks ago. We have had him for going on 3 months. I don't understand why we have backtracked to this.

2 weeks in and I want my life back. I work from home but can't get any work done as stopping him chewing furniture. Barks and screams In the crate and no matter where I go in the house u can hear him, which means I cant make my work calls. Getting up every 2 hours at night with barking and to let him out, getting up at 6 and needing to stay up with him. When does things get better ☹ house training is going well so that's a plus anyway. How to stop the random barking tho ?

what worked for me was freezing something like a kong full of peanut butter and mashed up dog treats, then at first every time we would leave he took around half an hour to play around with himself (ravenously suck the soul out of the kong) and for a while after he'd sit down and lick his lips for a while because of all the peanut butter.
Initially he would start being upset again for a little while, and then give up as we ignored it, then once he quietened down we would give him a little while to himself before rewarding the good (quiet) behaviour. Mine is 5 months now and to be honest he doesn't make that much noise anymore, but he will still eat anything in sight whether it's edible or not (the puppy pee pads were my favourite, he chewed it up so badly that he breathed in and half of it got stuck up his nose, and for a week after his poops were scrunched up blue and white balls of digested pad)
