i have not seen this movie yet..so i dont know if it shows this...but...the most wonderful thing about this story is that ....( i quote from a Bridges For Peace newsletter for feb.2012..)
"After the war,Kappler was prosecuted and imprisoned for his war crimes. His only visitor every month for fifteen years was O'Flahery! What compassion! In March of 1959,Kappler was baptized!" PraiseGod!!!

For all his undoubted bravery he has not been honoured as one of the Righteous Among The Nations (those who saved Jews from the Nazis) by the Yad Vasham. Something should be done about that.

sometimes it feels like people dont want to know about great catholic priests like hugh or nuns like mother teresa or all the good things the church has done in the developing world. its harder to be catholic now then muslim in ireland, i was in the irish defence forces & the hateful vile anti catholic bile that i received from a lot of members will never leave me & i wouldnt be someone who is sensitive i would be up for a laugh, i know that if i were muslim that nothing would have ever said

What a truly great Irishman was Monsignor Hugh O'Flaherty! Such a small country from where so many great men came (Henry Ford, Sean O'Casey, The Kennedy Clan,Arthur Guinness, to name but a few. OK Arthur WAS an Englisman by birth only, and Irish by choice!)
