Loved the series. Honestly, I enjoyed these little mini-mysteries as much as the full episodes. Wished they had a whole season of Jane solving 4-5 of these little guys every episode.
2:42, Brilliant writing!! Jane is narrowing down the location of buried stuff. When he starts with roof to basement, the killer doesn't react, but when he mentions garden, the killer gets all woooofed up. Genius! and Jane's expressions confirms that.
I'm such an amazing detective, I knew it was the husband within 20 seconds! You know how? Because they're not going to introduce another character in 4 minutes, that's how.

Now Jane was pretty sure he hide some in the garden.

Of all the series I had seen, Jane, Lisbon, Cho, Grace, Rigsby, all are close to my heart, in a special place in my mind, like Jane says, keeping in my memory palace.

If you watch you will notice she is not wearing her ring that she is wearing in the painting, and the officer said her fiance came in and saw her laying dead but the TV upstairs is on the sports channel, so he then either he went upstairs to watch TV after he saw her dead or after he killed her.
He's a mentalist, part of that is making the subject think they have the upper hand; whether it's them thinking they understand your magic trick, or thinking they're holding a loaded gun.
The horrifying thing is, I’ve seen police body cams that show the murderer before being figured out as the murderer show these exact same mannerisms, albeit without a gun in hand.
if you hand someone a weapon it lowers their guard. it is also an excellent way to incriminate someone, an armed person is much more likely to threaten others with violence than an unarmed person under pressure. He's been manipulating the guy all this time, with choice words like "roof to basement" and "dig up garden", the moment he gave in was when the latter was brought up. Very dangerous but effective method.
He absolutely did. He put a peanut in the chamber when he was looking at the gun so it couldn't fire. What gets me is he didn't realize the guy grabbed the other gun too and it ends up getting someone shot
I’m not saying I figured any of this out, or saw anything coming, I didn’t. But when he opened the make-up drawer, it didn’t look how I expected. I don’t know how I expected it to look. I guess I’m praising the set designers for doing a job well.

Ofcourse, there are many good episodes, cliff-hanging and nailbiting moments across the series And I have to admit, I nearly shed a bit of tears for the finale. This series deserves it. But again..all GREAT things have to end and so was this series ❤, And I am glad to see many lovers of this here ❤ Big Thanks to the creators and the cast. Simon is one hell of a charmer. I think it was a process of elimination... like, where *wont* he let me look. Ooooooh, he'll show me the safe, but as soon as I mention the garden, he's frantically heading for the safe to show me *that*.

Next clue is when jane asked about money because these are also evidence and the aggressive husband ready to show his gun when jane said about digging the garden.

So he grabs the peanuts and starts dropping shells to see if guy is the organized or messy one - neat/organized person would get annoyed at the mess he was flippantly making. If he was the neat/organized one, her disorganized stuff is explainable. If she was the organized/neat one, her disorganized stuff meant he put it all away.

I really wished they would’ve finished the Red John storyline sooner so that we had more seasons with them at the FBI. I feel like the show was getting better, however, I wouldn’t change that ending for the world. 😊

90% time Patrick solves case within 5 min , things become messy and chaotic just like this case, that's why Patrick doesn't solve the case until the killer is relaxed most of the time, when the situation is in the bureau control

Jane doesn't care about having ID--kind of like how Dr. House never wore an ID or white coat--and it's not really necessary, as it's always Agent Lisbon or other CBI agents who take him to crime scenes, and they always vouch for him.
Have you even watched the show? Patrick Jane is a consultant, not a detective. Also, if you knew his backstory, then you'd know there are but a few people/things that Jane fears.
The suspect handed a loaded weapon to him, then Jane racked the slide BEFORE pulling the magazine out. So now there is a loaded chamber. Do the armorer's for these movies and shows ever teach the actors proper gun safety?
Ah, but Jane did that to make the gun look more dangerous, but he's actually used slight of hand to jam the peanuts he's been eating into the chamber so that the gun is infact "safe" so that he can hand it to the murderer and not get shot. "But you can't jam a peanut into the gun that way at that time, that's not how guns work" Look, the conceits of the show is that Patrick Jane is an insane Carney with nothing to lose. One of the greatest con artists, mentalists, and an excellent prestidigitatior. If he hands the baddy gun that looks dangerous because of something he just did then it's safe, or, it's dangerous because it's a double bluff and he knows that baddy will hand it to someone else, or, blah blah blah, functionally magic.

Its hard to know who is who in the real life. Each person is the main character of own story but also just the NPC in the other man's story.

Jane doesn't care about having ID--kind of like how Dr. House never wore an ID or white coat--and it's not really necessary, as it's always Agent Lisbon or other CBI agents who take him to crime scenes, and they always vouch for him.

Have you even watched the show? Patrick Jane is a consultant, not a detective. Also, if you knew his backstory, then you'd know there are but a few people/things that Jane fears.

The suspect handed a loaded weapon to him, then Jane racked the slide BEFORE pulling the magazine out. So now there is a loaded chamber. Do the armorer's for these movies and shows ever teach the actors proper gun safety?
Ah, but Jane did that to make the gun look more dangerous, but he's actually used slight of hand to jam the peanuts he's been eating into the chamber so that the gun is infact "safe" so that he can hand it to the murderer and not get shot. "But you can't jam a peanut into the gun that way at that time, that's not how guns work"
Look, the conceits of the show is that Patrick Jane is an insane Carney with nothing to lose. One of the greatest con artists, mentalists, and an excellent prestidigitatior. If he hands the baddy gun that looks dangerous because of something he just did then it's safe, or, it's dangerous because it's a double bluff and he knows that baddy will hand it to someone else, or, blah blah blah, functionally magic.

People have died in real life because they did the exact same thing as seen in this show. Heck in 2015 while at the police range a cop did that and wound up shooting another cop and killing him. I know it is just a show.

Would that be a stupid thing to do. Yes.
Would it work? No... God no.
Even it if worked 9 times out of 10, which it wouldn't, it would still be a stupid ploy.
But, here Jane isn't doing that, he's not calling the guys bluff, or psyching him out, if my memory is right, he has done the opposite, when the guy attempts to fire the gun, it will fail, because it's jammed, or not loaded. "But he did a thing that makes it clearly loaded" yes, just like every magician doing every slight of hand trick ever. If it looks like the ball is in the cup, it's not in the cup, it's in his hand.
But yeah, it would be stupid to try either of these ploys in real life... It comes up a lot in the show that Patrick Jane is a physical coward. Blah blah blah, honestly putting too much thought into this.
