Thank you! I would add that I my USB port is 3..0 and the speed was reported as 1.8Gbs. My setting was 0 so I experimented and found 500 is the highest speed. Worked perfectly. MW5 VR mod was a terrible jitter fest previously. Smooth as silk now. Thanks again!

LISTEN! I was on the verge of pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong. I'm running a 3090 and couldn't get anything running smooth. This has help me so much. I'm trying to figure out how to get you more likes...lol
My old Rig just barely ran my quest 2, so I coughed up $1k and built a new one... New rig wasn't any better, as I could not afford to replace my GPU (GTX 1650 Super, about as low as you can go for VR)... DCS at 20 jittery and jaggy frames at best... But I found a solution that worked for me...
Oculus App set to 90hz at recommended resolution.
Oculus Tray Tool with the following settings...: 1. Quest Link settings - Distortion curvature LOW = encode resolution 2016 - Bitrate 500 - Sharpening ENABLED ... 2. OTT Game Settings - Default Super Sampling 1.3 - Default ASW OFF - Adaptive GPU Scaling ON - Mirror FOV Multiplier 0.7 and 0.65 (This was one of the biggest game changers, along with the resolution settings below...) - OVR Server Priority REALTIME... 3. OTT Profile for DCS - Super Sampling 1.7 - ASW Mode OFF - CPU Priority HIGH - Detection WMI - Screen Mirror OFF - Adaptive GPU Scaling OFF - Desktop resolution (bottom left of Profile page) 1280 x768...
Nvidia Control Panel - Adjust Image Settings with Preview LET THE APPLICATION DECIDE - Desktop resolution 1280 x 768...

I spent months researching and trying, and managed to pork my system and the Oculus app several times each in the process, and wasn't able to do better than 20 jittery and jaggy FPS... I now get a buttery smooth 40 FPS and it looks AWESOME! Don't ask me why this works for me, or why it doesn't work for you, because, frankly, I don't know, and I don't care...
My rig..: 17700k OC to 5ghz, 32gb 4800 ram,Samsung 980 ssd, GTX 1650 Super, Quest 2 with official link cable...
I hope this saves someone the months of restarting and reinstalling I spent before I stepped in this solution...

You absolute hero, I want you to know that this fixed everything for me, I tried so many searches and 'one weird trick' things before filtering the google search to results from the last week and coming across this video.
I play Beat Saber competitively, and up until a few days ago everything was fine, suddenly I started getting frame loss and stuttering, it was just minor enough that the game was still playable, but noticeable enough to mess up my performance - I had a lot riding on getting this fixed, so again thank you so much 🙏
Ahhh yes! This comment is why I absolutely love making these videos, if I can save even one person the headache I've had working it out, it was worth it! I forgot to explain it in the video specifically but the problem obviously is that you're trying to push through more bandwidth that your specific cable can handle, so no matter what your pc is capable of performance wise, at the end of the day you're asking the cable itself to do more than it's capable of, so simply finding out what that is, and then finding your specific sweet spot is the key, delighted this helped! :D
I'm using the official Link cable and it stuttering so bad the game won't load. I keep getting an hourglass icon popping up. VR performance test says my pc is very high.
Help mines is brand new I’m not using it with any cable in tho this is 2023 December do I have a different version or something so far it only flickers only when I’m moving with the joystick in Roblox games

I’ve been on the quest 2 for quite a while, and am technical enough so I’ve tinkered with everything but never thought to match the encode bitrate to the cable speed, performance was good as I’m on a 4060 and 12400, but there was always this niggling
Basically when moving the camera and just moving hands around in HL: Alyx. Some other games were having this issue like blade and sorcery but it wasn’t too noticeable, with Alyx I had enough and found this video.
I can confirm that I tested my cable, a cheap 20€ one from Smyths and it was at 230mbps, other tweak vids had theres set to 500 as the max. I went into the debug tool and did as it said in the video and now it’s incredibly smooth, no little hitches
Hope this information helps someone who has gone through mountains of troubleshooting to no avail
One little side comment that I’ve always noticed, when meta opens up on the PC it always says my specs don’t meet the minimum requirement which just isn’t true, I presume this is a bug but not sure

This was a huge help, thanks X 1000! Why would the default settings suck so bad for so many of us? My cable tests out at 2500 Mbps, but setting it to 2000 made a big difference, even if it really maxes out at 500. Another big help was reducing the FOV Tangent Multiplier to 0.75 for both horizontal and vertical. I use Quest 3 and this reduces the rendering to really just the part of the display that I can see, and doesn't waste compute power rendering stuff that's outside of my view. Going lower than .72 starts to be visible. FYI doing this will affect your recordings since the entire FOV is used for widescreen format recording, but for gameplay it is unnoticeable except for the performance improvement. PCVR is way better now, thanks again!!!

If you have an HP, don't go by USB color, look closely at the marks on the outside, look for "USB5" or "USB10", those are the fastest slots. Any half decent cable will get you 2.4-2.6 on most machines 2 years old or newer. Always try to connect directly to motherboard ports, but use front if you have to in order to use the higher speed slots. edit - you can also try setting "LINK SHARPEN -ENABLE" when editing the file.
i tried everything still laggy, its very laggy as soon as i connect my vr to my pc even if im just in the oculus home, even with the smallest movements, it still lags my vr, and the movement is very delayed and slow, like if i move my hand a couple of inches, it takes a few seconds for the vr to move.
You should check if your system meets minimum requirements and if it does look for any background apps eating up power uninstall all razer software restart your pc set fps in devices on your oculus to 72hrz or 80hrz automatic resolution if none of this works reinstall oculus software or if nothing at all works what so ever you might have to invest in better hardware
@@OGHDToad i bought a new gaming pc with all the requirements on it, it still didn't work, even when the oculus app is the only thing installed in it, P.S: is it required to have a WiFi6 Router to run vr smoothly, cause i don't have this at the moment.
@@okano6341 a 6 is definitely recommended but not necessary, definitely don't use a 2.4 tho or else you will get stutter. But if your using a link cable then the wifi doesn't matter, Also if your using link cable do not allow it access to your device or else windows will check quest very often for new files and folders which will cause stutter and lag while your playing so make sure you deny this when link is hooked up. Also depending on your monitor, I found having HDR turned to on on my monitor also made vr stutter and lag, so make sure you have HDR turned off, also to help with stutter have your monitor off while playing vr, so your cpu and gpu isn't playing a balancing act sending packets of data to your monitor and then also to your headset at the same time, see how a problem could arise?

You have the same graphics card as me, though I had a better cable. I figured I'd try your settings at first and adjust as needed like you suggested. Your settings worked great, though I didn't want to lose out on my cable's capabilities so I adjusted the Encode Bitrate higher but for some reason 280 was the highest (multiple of 10, too lazy to find the exact #) my computer/Quest would allow without chopping again.
I do think you need the proper Encode Resolution Width as well to fix this issue. For kicks, I set the Encode Resolution Width back to 0, its default number, with the 280 Encode Bitrate, and the chopping occurred again. I was lucky that ONE37Works' graphics card was the same as mine.
With my experience, I think both settings need to be proper in order to fix this problem.

Like I could be looking straight in VR and it would chop to a different angle randomly. Turning my head? Forget about it, it's too much chopping.

Thank you soo much, I realized my issue was I put a excessive encode bit rate.
my cables bitrate was at 2.3gbps and i converted it to mbps and it came to 2300mbps how to i put this into the encode bitrate if it only supports 3 digits?

The game was completely unplayable for me. Now she runs runs smoothly, some traversal starters though. Not sure if thays jusy thr game

Alot of people have a laggy experience because they don't have the specs. An rtx 3070 is borderline not enough for many games. There is and fsr mod that has helped me out a ton with framerate as well as image quality. For newer users I recommend using steam vr so you can pull up the performance Monitor and make sure you're not reprojecting. The oculus performance monitor is too annoying to open and close I never use it

Thanks I found that I had two problems one was the res and fps on quest 2 PC I had max out and it was way above recommend and the other was that the bit rate was nearly two times what my cable could handle with only a slight noticeable difference to res I can finally play games like contractors on max settings and with butter smooth game play this saved PC vr for me

I have the official link cable with the quest 2 and a good pc, when I try to play pcvr games with link cable it’s so laggy. I get around 144 fps but on the headset it looks like 6 fps.
Playing any VR game on my PC with my Quest 2 is literally impossible. Steam VR pretty much rips itself apart as soon as it boots up, the lagging and freezing is so bad that the only way to get out of the whole experience is to yank the link cable out of the headset. It was not like this whatsoever when I hopped on it several months back, but one day I decided to hop on and it was just unplayable. I still have no idea how to fix it
I have totally the same problem. It worked fine many months ago, and then suddenly I get this weird lagging and stuttering and freezing issue when I fire up Steam. Doesn''t matter if I connect via link cable (the official, expensive one) or using Air Link or Virtual Desktop. Steam / PC games aren't playable anymore and I couldn't find any fix on the web yet.

oh btw guys if you have your headset connected while trying this method youre going to have to restart your headset if it didn't work.
So I guess it's good practise just to be safe, but I didnt have to, since restarting the oculus service disconnects the headset, the changes should apply on re-connecting, so a restart as I said isn't actually required, but certainly a good troubleshooting tip in case it's not working for anyone!
First it wouldn't even see steam vr under oculus link apps so that had to be troubleshot. Then it keeps exiting my apps (crashing?) when i click on them. Then i buy the virtual desktop from them so mooore money, that one doesn't read my controls when in game. Then I spent hours researching and finally get steam vr to show up in apps but it also keeps exiting occasionally and when i do access it lagging/delay and zigzag graphics on freaking even home screen of steam vr make it unusable let alone when i started hellblade. My 486 back in the 90s could run more smoothly than this.
Other VR set worked smoothly with the same laptop and the same game...

still works, i did this with my GTX 1650 and believe it or not it fixes frames. I had a lot of stutters and I mean A LOT and this toned it down and fixed most of them, might've even eliminated the problem

My cable after the test is 2.7Gbps. I cannot enter that value or anything close to that into Encode Bitrate Mbps.
