If I may add, the late Prof Jawahir Hj Ali, the beautiful Malayan speaker in this debate, was from Kelantan. Her parents were rural folk. Despite adversity and coming from a rural area (kampung), Ms Jawahir persisted and later secured a scholarship to further her PhD study at the University of London, Institute of Education, UK. To see her speaking so eloquently in this debate and later progressed to become an outstanding professor reminds me that we can be the best despite adversity if we put our 100 percent.

Jawahir binti Haji Ali is the Malay Malayan girl in this debate.
At last, a representation from the Malayan Malay ethnicity in this debate.
Can't really see if she's wearing a baju kurung or kebaya during this debate but she looked really beautiful. Malays would say, " seperti wanita Melayu terakhir"...
If she was a teenager in this video, she'd be between 75 - 80 years old in 2021. Hope she's still alive & well. 🌺

but this bring to another point, there is some fringe community (mainly the vocal one are chinese) always bring the point of hijab(less} and 'tight' kebaya on malay community lifestyle. This group always try subtly implying that Islam destroy the beauty of malay community by their own standard. Malay today are trying to adhere more on the religion rule but they the fringe community are always busy-bodying on what malay community lifestyle is. Malay never busy-bodying with what other cultures do, so why are they (fringe communities) being loud?

Imagine growing up in a country which has took over the entire world. You have been reading the books written by UK scholars from a positive perspective. You obviously will be under the impression that you have helped the world. Hence comes the superiority. Also it's an international stage and are representing your country. It's easy to point out someone in the wrong and it's equally tough for the person in the wrong to defend. Hence the debates are paning out the way they did

If it helps...I was an exchange student😂 to USA back in 88’. I finished my studies of english language by the age of 15. I am from the northeast of Brazil. I did not meet one American until my last year of practice when we finally had an american teacher exclusively for pronunciation class. We did not have internet of course, so, we learned what was possible from the books and the tapes we listened to. Music was another great source especially for pronunciation. When I was in a school in Indiana, my english was good enough for me. I even had my english teacher telling my fellow students to say good-bye on the occasion of my return , telling that my english was better than most kids from school which made some of them state that they thought I was american. That made me laugh because I am SOUTH AMERICAN. Just another kind of american. Anyway, 30 years apart from these kids. I hope they had access to tapes or native teachers.

This Kapoor was a very let down of Indian group. All other Indians like Nalini Nayar, Raj n Krishna were very sharp, objective and precise in their thoughts and words. But here Mr Kapoor , I am finding lack of that intellectual prowess like other team members. He must have been selected by corrupted methods. An intelligent guy from West Bengal State would have a better choice to represent India in this forum.

The intolerance and the ignorant comment by you in this internationally accessible forum is what represents a let down. I am finding lack of intellectual prowess in your comment like others. You must have made a living by corrupted methods. A racist who hates Indians would have left a better comment than you in this forum.

Only Malays should represent Malaya/Malaysia perspective! Not Chinese like previous video I watch!

No! Never should be ONLY MALAY to represent Malaya/Malaysia.. they should be also Chinese, Indian, Iban, Kadazandusun, Orang Asli, Peranakan or even the Malaccan Portuguese/Eurasian/Kristang as long as they are Malaysian and well raised with the right values of a true Malaysian

Agreed with ridhuan. Those who represent malaya/malaysia should carries patriotism value in themselves. They should seen themselve as Malaysian not a representative of their own race.

Why should only Malay be represented? Not only Malays who live in Malaysia…bruh
