You and TwinSticks are doing great with documenting fixing up the trucks that used to keep the world moving
i always wonder why the USA stop making cabovers? i know there very popular trucks in Europe but not in a america...i wonder why? im so looking to see you more more progress on Kenny mike i want to see you big kenny back to life ❤👍😍
Over here (I'm in England) we very occasionally see bull nose Scanias, but yes everything else has been can over engine since at least the 1950s...we have much shorter maximum lengths than the US, Australia etc.
A lot of reasons. Just google it.
The changed the maximum length allowed laws so there was no point to them.
Nobody: "does nothing"
Mike getting into Kenny: OHH RUAH YEAH AGH OH
Lol, my wife says I'm making old man noises.
These K100s have a special place in my heart...I learned to drive in an '87 K100 flat top.
Next business to be conducted. Clean and seal all the holes so it doesn't leak.
Just subscribed. I think this restoration is going to be well worth following.
I'm definitely following it. I've always loved these old KW aerodynes.
Ya it will as soon as he quits talking about it 🤣
Hmmnn, if it wasn't for the old man filming his own face all the time.
@@christianmadsen7997 🤣
It definitely sounded better after the little rev session. Taking that wood box out made it look alot better. I'd take the brackets off and see whats behind door 2 and 3 (For research purposes) you could always put them back on. I appreciate the jokes people take stuff to seriously and I enjoy a good laugh! Keep up the great work on Kenny! Watching from Durham Connecticut USA.
Sounds like an older cummins SOUNDS GREAT
My 2001 iveco cargo is powered by a 6 cylinder CUMMINGS!!!! Super reliable in all weather.
Working for Kenworth definitely has me interested in this series! Love it when I get the rare opportunity to see a K100 come in.
lovely to see the interior gets cleaned, and what a big sleeper , love it
A little trick you can do to clean your circuit boards is to carefully remove them and wash them in regular dish soap, let them drip dry overnight, then softly blow them with compressed air. When you have made sure that all the water is gone and dry reinstall the freshly cleaned cards and enjoy!
Starting to shape up alittle !!! Good luck !! Luv the old cabovers !!
It's nice to see someone else with an interest in preserving a piece of history. Good luck to you on the restoration!!!!
This is gonna be awesome to watch this build/resto. First truck I drove was a 1987 KW K100 flat top with the 110” sleeper.
Watching you bring this old girl back life is way cooler than "Big show truck money " BTW you have my vote on the single screw idea
You can always tell when a Man loves his project ..... we nurture em' and talk to em' and protect em' 💥💥💥💥
Never rev up a cold engine. My step dad would chew us out if we did.
He doesn't know any better
Wow, those Aerodynes sure have a lot of space! I hope I can get my hands on one in a year or two.
BJ and the Bear? loved that show! :)
Fasntastic video great to see progress on the cab over .
Porter greetings! 🇺🇸 I never get tired of watching a cabover video, unless you chop the top or purposely wreck it just for fun! 😳 I would definitely take those mufflers off and even do straight pipes. I’m not sure, but when the Centennial cabs came out, there was a portable potty on the passenger side. I guess you could slide the seat or take the seat cushion off and use the potty. There sure seems to be extra room on that side. Just put a seat there and be done with it. Air ride on both sides. Your wife will appreciate it! 🤩 All the hard work cleaning will pay off…at least you will be able to breathe when you’re inside the truck. So, “Kenny” is the truck name? Cool! Good job! 🤩
Mine is 1980 with red vit interior, had to pull it back from the brink, much like yours, well worth all the work, some of the biggest problems came from the adulterated wiring. From uk.
Looking good! Enjoying the vids on Kenny so far, looking forward to future vids also. Keep up the good work.
Whenever i start a new project i like to do a good cleaning, i feel more inspired, i have never owned a big truck, i have looked at them back in the day when i had dreams of trucking, mostly double bunk cab over freightliners.
Use a hair drier or a heat gun on a low setting to remove the decals 👍
I’m looking forward to watching theses episodes from the Philippines
Excellent Kenny you have a fine fine cab over. Definitely.
I like these longer video's, they give a great view on what you do step by step, one day I'll have my own project truck out here, greetings from the Netherlands, have a great day!
New to the channel but loving this series great job mike keep up the good work
Looking forward to more clips on restoring that baby. Keep it up.
Fantastic job of cleaning the inside of the cab
Looking good mike I’ve been there and done this process it takes time and elbow grease the old Pete’s and kenworths were just made so well it’s amazing how they just come right back today everything is plastic and hollow and when it’s broke it’s broke
Keep it a classic and original look
I love the horns you should keep them on the truck.
No kidding. So many people take off those great sounding horns and fill the roof up with lights, then add a train horn. Myself, I prefer the classic look and sound.
Nice to see a old truck get restored please don't lose the tweety bird my two daughters love him
I think that will stay.no matter what yup.
Kenny is comin along nicely 👌, im enjoying sitting in my home in New Zealand watching the progress of Kenny (MC and the bear), and looking forward to the next episode, thanks so much for the entertaining 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
this would make an awesome "pork chop express" for those 80s movie buffs out there!
Good job!
Love your shop, yep one step at a time.. think your tired now...just wait until you start on the frame and running gear....all in good time.
That’s a great project! Sounds like an injector to me. My brother in law was a truck salesman in Toronto but he is enjoying his retirement now. I am going to recommend him your channel. Watching from Puerto Rico. Subscribed!
Looking good Mike, greetings from the UK 👍
I’ve been using Spray Nine for years in my trucks. Works great. It will leave a little white residue that washes off with some water.
Great channel. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
I would look into the fuel system from what i can hear here the compression sounds even.
@peter built Mike wow that interior is looking really nice now with a clean I would just just tidy it up and keep it original iam very impressed nice one 👍
Hey mike i enjoy your videos im from the cayman islands and i also own a kenworth cabover k100E as well old school cool bro👊
Great job clweaning looks grest keep sending update
This is going to be a awesome build.
Thanks for sharing this project. I had a flattop 1990 Kenworth Cabover with a single bunk. Ended up using it as a yard spotter truck for years until the engine died. I loved driving that cabover down the road once in a while it only had 7 gears. They are a lot of fun.
Love this truck, looking forward to the progress of its restoration, the misfiring could just be the injectors need setting up.
Just grind those brackets off
It looks cool with the stainless steel strap !
I’m a new subscriber and I’m looking forward to see the transformation of this old girl
I also have a coe, it’s a 77 Peterbilt with 350 Cummins,13 speed on air ride.
Big hello all the way from Oklahoma
A Cummins and a Roadranger…a real hill climber! My Dad drove a ‘81 Freightliner CO with a 400 Cummins “Big Cam II” and a 13 speed. 80 MPH no problem…
I have to say, I've always loved the interior of a KW.
Love the kenworth
Love this video
Mike. I'm so mad at you. Like I don't have enough trucking stuff to watch between Supertruckerdan and timelapsetrucker, now I'm already hooked into watching you rebuild this great piece of trucking history. Have been following you as you show off all the new trucks and was impressed by your marketing skills. Thank you very much and I've finally subscribed . Take care and have fun.
New to your channel & loving the old K100, after you get everything all cleaned up on the inside get some Lemon Pledge & wipe down the dash & all the interior panels with it you will be amazed what it will make it look like. I know those windows above the driver & passenger seats love to leak when it rains so keep an eye on them. looking forward to seeing more of the restoration on it.
Pretty clean kenny
Great truck, great project
Looking good 👍👍
Love the vids 👌 greetings from the netherlands 🇳🇱
Much better. The dash will be fun to clean.
You have to get your hands on this new product called Super Clean ! It's the best out there just spray it on & just like magic say goodbye to years of neglect & grime. Spray on & wipe off. Best of luck with everything enjoying your journey thanks for taking us along !
Love the old cab over I’m glad your fixing her up! I don’t want to sound like a know it all or some dink but Dad and I restored a General and a Superliner, both were sitting and low mileage , but both had old, green coolant and when I tested it, it’s PH level was pretty bad. Both 400 big cams , 3 and a 4. I would change the coolant filter (WF2071) so it has some fresh DCA. Or drain and put in fresh stuff along with a coolant filter. . Super important on those ! Greetings from Ontario :)
Appreciate your enthusiasm and attitude.
The more I view the actual short dimensions of the wheelbase I realize it needs a new rear clip at some time to look right. A little stretch would look cool if you are so inclined.
Nice shop to work in. You have no excuse for not working on it due to rain etc. !
Patching the fiberglass holes in the too should not be hard to do. There a million how to’s online. KW might have a preferred glass and resin but it’s probably generic.
Best of luck with the work
Yes, Kenworth aerodyne bit offered a factory fridge. We bought one new with one. Ours was built in Chillicothe, oh. Great videos, bill
Been trucking for over 40 years, raised in a trucking family, we've had several of these K-model double bunk aerodyne and flat top tractors. Injector sounded stuck. I would change them out along with all filters. We only had one Cummins powered unit the rest all had Cat motors 425B and one with a 1693T all with 15spd tranny's.
Good looking K100 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
👍😉. Looking good.
That interior looks awesome! Makes me want to paint the buttons on my interior, but what if you got rid of the wood grain look of the dash and painted it to match the white vinyl and did the switches up in blue? I think it would tie the whole interior up nicely.
You just love that air horn!!!
Wife says I'm a little Horny 😉
A common problem here in the UK!!! Tilting the cab and forgetting to remove loose items in the cab before tilting...
Drove a friend of mines 82 K100 aerodyne. Wicked Kool Truck 🚚 Had a KTA 600 Cummins with a 15spd overdrive 370 rears. Hauled his race cars around with it. Used to be owned by Junior Johnson when he raced in the Winston Cup Series. Beautiful Truck. It was Budweiser Red. 200 inch wheelbase. With a air ride cab. Had all the options available in the Day. Was a triple digit Truck that was great to Drive. 🏆🇺🇸🏁😎
Nice Truck. Best wishes from Netherlands Europe
G'day Mike ,,
Looks like a pretty cool truck you have there.
However ,my concern is the mechanical issue of the misfire ,,all the cleaning in the world wont help if you have a serious issue with the engine .
Chances are ,it's an injector dumping fuel ,but it could be lots of things causing the misfire ,some of which are only solved by major engine works .
Personally ,,I would be addressing the misfire issue ,so I know 100% what I'm dealing with , and what's needed to undertake the repair .
Engine & mechanical repair comes first ,,,
Then bodywork & paint
I'd simply feel for the cold cylinder exhaust while motor is running to find misfiring cylinder ,,,,
remove that injector & valve cover , (ROTATE MOTOR) check valves & inside cylinder for good cylinder liner & piston ,
If only injector has issue,,,
Consider my options from here ....
Good luck with it Mike ,
Respect

You did a nice job on the interior for sure, but let me recommend you get yourself a drill brush. The key is rpm's just like anything you're trying to clean that you need some 'elbow grease' for. All the professional detailers use them because they cut down on effort and really get the textured or pleated surfaces clean and break up that tough gunk and crap. I use simple green diluted down to the appropriate strength. Cleans well, but doesn't damage anything, smells good, and doesn't leave the surface greasy like armor all does having all kinds of stuff stick to it after. Murphys oil soap also works wonders on interior panels. The drill brush is suitable for everything including the carpet and they come in different stiffness' depending on how soiled the surface is.
Love this project. Donkeys are cool but I think you're going to have much more fun with the KW. Besides, its got a great name.
She's looking a lot better 😉
The drivers door will need TLC. They open and close a million times more than the passenger side. So take the panel off and clean and lube the mechanisms. Vaseline is your buddy for much of this. Even the vinyl can use a rub of vaseline to help soften the vinyl. No real surface tackiness after.
Now that we've seen the interior (good enough and period correct), you have to do some sort of gray & blue & white paint scheme on the outside :D
Very nice truck
Looking forward also from England 🍺
Time for a Day Cab request for the headboard!!! Otherwise, the blue button tucks look neat.
There’s 3 other signal lights on the dash so I wonder if the missing one in the middle is the fourth for either the tractor or trailer. Our European trucks have separate indicator lights/bulbs on the dash to tell the difference between the tractor and trailer if there’s a problem. Looking forward to future episodes. 👍🏼
Hi from argentina! Good video
LOOKIN GOOD A BUD
I look forward to watching these episodes. From Brisbane, Australia.
I’m Brisbane also but watching from Singapore
Melbourne 👍
I am watching in Alaska
@@lancecooper4646 In Melbourne to
Netherlands
This is Eli and I love the truck and the video
Hey Mike sweet old banger you found, excited when I see youv posted a update,, you may have a blown headgasket, blown between cylinders explaining the unburnt diesel smell and white smoke, i had the same issue on my k104 aerodyne, I also have a k200 Bigcab aerodyne. Using ur engine brake before oil temp is up is really bad too i know is hard to resist though lol, it can brake rockers n blow headgaskets. Look forward to more vids :)
Yeah, like a little kid mashing buttons without logic. Lol I will be diving into the engine issues after I get the brakes working.
Sounds better, doesn't have that baffling popping sound. It's good sign how clears up as warms up. Could be a simple injector clean up.
Mike, there's a Facebook group called 'The Kenworth K100 Club' that will be very helpful once you start needing to source parts or have questions about repairing the truck.
Mike! Love the channel man, and I love the series, keep them videos and updates comin’……
Mike have you thought about putting some Marvel Mystery Oil in the tanks to help clean up the injectors and hopefully free up some gunk in the engine? That stuff is amazing and you can use it on older trucks.
I think it would be like ATF, but seriously brother check it out.
Take those cat exhausts off ASAP too, the engine doesn’t like being restricted. My dad’s always telling me stories about how other truckers he knows burned their engines down because of those damn things according to CA regulations.
Best of luck man! Looking forward to more videos. Remember the Marvel Mystery Oil! :-)
The Bobbsey twins are the main characters in a series of children's books.
You got a lot of patients
I used Tver truck wash in warm water to clean inside it worked great better than normal cleaner
A Peterbilt salesman wearing a Cat hat in a Kenworth with a Cummins 😂. I tease....super interested in this project - Keep the videos coming! 👍
😂
New sub here - interesting channel! Good job on the interior - a portable steam cleaner would help a lot and sanitize quite a bit too.
Liked and subbed BTW.... She sounds good even with that miss. Hopefully it is just an injector issue. I'd just change them all.
Dremel those SS brackets off and see how it looks. Decide what to do after seeing the results.
That Number 9 cleaner or whatever the name is works pretty well.
Kenny will look very "handsomely pretty" once he is all cleaned and spruced up. Sounds awesome. Water and soap would have been great, I hope you had ventilation while spraying that product. Great cleaning job. It would be a great idea to give the old owner a ride on the refreshed truck, just before something happens to him.
I use fantastic when I clean my interior plastic panels and upholstery. It does a great job. It’s stronger than spray nine in my opinion.
It looks a million times better, Mike! Ditch those mattresses, no amount of Spray Nine can get rid of those lot lizard stains. Question, when you were revving the engine, upon deceleration I kept hearing a “boom”, like somebody was banging on an oil drum… What was that noise? I still think a 12V71 would look really sweet under that cab!
Put dynomat under the foam on the body panels before the trim goes back in will make it lots nicer to drive afterwards ive used it for yrs an good job cleaning iv had rat home in trucks before an the smell gets worse in the heat blow all the vents out to that smell gets in every were
