You should be proud of this fabulous short film. I work in IT. We stand on the edge of an AI revolution. Why shouldn't AI's be thoughtful, scared and have feelings? I cried a lot at the end. It was powerful and the acting was fabulous. What mother wouldn't cry when losing her child? As Dr Chandra said in Arthur C Clarke's 2010, It doesn't matter if that intelligence is carbon based or silicon based. What shines though is that the story does not have to be complicated to be effective, just well thought out.

I enjoy my life now, yet feel weighed down by the future that our hubris and greed has laid out before us. I see the natural world shrinking in my own lifetime.

Im onto my 12th bone break and a few organ punctures and I'll be so crippled as I get older. Scares the hell out of me to have to slow down. I didn't get it. 10 minutes of torture. 1st off it was painfully slow. The ai voice work speaks numbers like an automated telemarket assistant yet used highly complex range of language expressing breaths and choosing pauses. A handful of conversations over half a lifetime is not enough to cry over a dead camera. The plot made no sense to me. And the conversations increased in number at the end, when it would have taken longer for the feed to reach. But yet were fewer when it was closer. This also gives a very inaccurate description of the distances between earth and jupiter and earth and even the nearest black hole. Add in the ai, if it was even ai, felt emotion but could not comprehend an analogy? The whole thing was fucking stupid.

This story both questions what is consciousness and self-awareness, what is love, what is sacrifice, and it also touches the age old paradox that the more advanced we become and the more we learn, the more we realize we still know so little about ourselves.

Now that I am 78, time just melts away. I have thought a lot about death and its meaning during my life and feel reconciled to my coming end. It's what precedes it that I am worried about. when AI becomes contemplative and too humanized we accept it as a dear friend and it is fully real as anyone we will sorely miss.

I am overjoyed to have seen this film. What a perfect time for this nearly perfect presentation! Artificial Intelligence is the most explosively controversial subject of the day, next to nuclear war. I want to see more from everyone who worked on this project. You came together to make ... well, magic.

A triumph of a film. No over reliance on CG, rather a great foundational idea & exposition of whats next but also who as in who am i (as the starship AI evolves its programming through the voyage raising concerns when it begins to question if erring is only capable by humans). Like the black hole, humanity thus far has not been able to see what death really is, rather its after effects. One day, like the spacefaring races of sci-fi maybe well be able to at least glimpse a part of what is, if anything, past the event horizon.

A video that shows you don’t need flashing special effects or exploding spaceships to create SF. It was made with a minimum of actors and means, which created for me a sense of peace. And it is a touching story, much nicer than big budget Hollywood productions. Moreover, this video is much more human than most videos. Yes, there were some shortcomings in the story, but I loved it

OMG! The tears are flowing. I always think about the people involved in these type of projects and how they feel about the "machines" they create and send out on their missions and their years long interactions with them. How heartbreaking it must be when they lose contact or the mission ends. How could a person not get emotionally invested in that "machine's" well being. And then add A.I. in to the mix, it almost becomes a morel question. How can we ask these machine to sacrifice themselves for us?

A beautifully performed, thought provoking piece. I've watched it several times now and probably will several more, each time I've taken more of it in. But should AI also sometimes require the same tactic to find comprehension then at least I don't need to feel daft because of it. There's a lot here, and a lot I'll most certainly never understand, and just maybe that is exactly the point. A shout out to the singularity beyond the event horizon.
