- They say "the New Bridge" is in fact the oldest bridge in Paris. They say it was the first bridge that did not carry buildings. There are a lot of stories involving le Pont Neuf indeed!

I've read about the Pont Neuf and those innovations (like the sidewalks and the markets). I was most struck by the mixing of classes as well as the bridge being a spark for renovating Paris in the 1600s and into the early 1700s. Then these and other centuries are linked as you described. So amazing!
