Jokerboy Yeah, but while Snyder describes the city as a person to delve into its history and geography and gives it more depth, Frank Miller uses it to describe the relationship between the protagonist and the city and gives the protagonist more depth, however sometimes Frank uses it to such an degree that I guess his favourite porn site might be Google Maps.
Uh, I mean, he made a whole movie with it. The Spirit. To a creepy degree.

I kinda like this book I only wish Batman stayed dead. Not because I hate him, love me some Batman but I think him passing the torch to Carrie would have been awesome.

Dark Knight 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble
Honestly I think this book was a great addition to the series and really feels like the characters are acting more like themselves. It showed a great understanding of each character distilled into core elements with some changes here and their. Overall while not a game changing story it feels much more impactful then a lot of the more recent superhero stories coming out today.

Brian's Joker comic and Last Knight on Earth are pretty damn good in my opinion.
The way I see it, Dark Knight Returns was the definitive end to the post-Crisis Batman myth. Nothing. More. Needed. To. Be. Said. It was done. It concluded everything Batman was building towards throughout the 80s, and because of that, none of the sequels and spinoffs work narratively. The best thing DKR could have done was ended with that era of comics history, forever cementing a solid story from Year One through all the other 80s works including The Cult, A Death in the Family, and Son of the Demon (and so on...) and culminating in the final panel of Dark Knight Returns.

Frank's interpretation of Green Lantern continues to be one of the most baffling/hilarious aspects of Strikes Again and Master Race. Truly bizarre.
i have to be honest i bought the comic expecting the worst shit EVER! but i was suprised, the comic was actually decent...i would say good
Yea like the guys were describing it as being this worst then anything piece of shit but the more they described it the more I was into it. The candorians destroying everyone, the idea that batman uses the lazurus pit, Kerry Kelly getting the inverted batwoman suit, and Clark proving he let batman win 2 times was just really cool.

I liked the brief moment of Carrie as Batman, but after that I was over it. (Loved the little wink in acknowledgement over why Bruce was likely deaged, sequels and borning, yup. Dickie called Carrie Bruce's jailbait in the last one, and I hated it, but it looks like they might make it a real actual thing.)
She has a little baby brother and his perfect in every way. 😂
I dropped off after the first few issues, but it sounds like it ended up being more interesting, and I might go ahead and finish. I love how Ben and Ethan are so prescient of Miller/Comic tropes. Thanks.

I agree that the selling point for this story was the superb artwork. Some of the visuals like the Lazarus pages and the Batman appearing on every monitor were freaking cool. It's pretty shallow at some points like you guys say, but for the art alone, it's very entertaining to flip through.
This actually sounds much better than the previous installment.

I remember actually really enjoying DK3 when I read it. Now wanna re-read it and see how I feel about now.
1:08:30 I agree...and will go further.... Really, the fight in DKR does not stand up to any real scrutiny anyways. I mean...Superman had just been nuked and nearly died and was at a lower power level...and all the stuff in that fight only put him down for a single panel. Re reading the fight objectively....it actually proves the opposite of what people took from it. I mean Batman sets up a fight that nobody but him actually wants, uses all his tricks to just get "an already weakened" Superman off his feet...and then after that knowing he has nothing left...taps out and calls that win.
I always said that the fight in DKR was kinda pointless. I mean the previous chapter establishes that Clark and Bruce know each others secret identities. So, the entire fight is pointless. Batman if he was not being a dick could have just let Superman in on his plan to go underground. Because Batman being thought of as dead served Superman's purposes too. .
The fact that Bruce still had a secret identity until the end of the story proved that Clark was already trustworthy. Superman came to arrest Bruce because Superman knew that HE would not kill Bruce....the rest of the US government would have no such scruples.

I honestly like this one. I know that it has some problems, but as a whole I found it enjoyable. I look at the 3 books as separate entities. The first one is brilliant, and I still look at it as being part of it’s own little world. The second one is utterly ridiculous, and I imagine it taking place in a world where similar events to the first book occurred, but in a slightly different way. So it is, to me, off on its own. The third one is decent, and it occurs in a world where DK2 happened, but in a less crazy way, thus explaining how things look so modern and normal as opposed to “futuristic.”
I know that’s not really how it works, but that’s how I imagine it, so that I can still look at DKR as an individual story with no actual sequels.
