Regarding the next one, there was a lot of executive meddling. They started writing Saw 3D right when this one was coming out and was planned to be a 2 parter, but when Saw VI didnt do well at the box office, the producers had the writers cram both scripts into one frankensteinish movie. The other problem was that originally the director of Saw V David Hackl was gonna direct Saw 3D, but the producers changed their mind to have the director of this movie Kevin Greutert direct instead. The only thing is that Kevin was gonna direct Paranormal Activity 2 and was really excited to do so but the producers wouldnt have it so they forced him to direct Saw 3D under his old contract and he was maaaaaad. So yeah, its no surprise as to why Saw 3D is considered to be the worst one Only shout out to Tenedra Howard, who survived the opening trap and got the part due to winning season 1 of Scream Queens (no, not the Ryan Murphy show before you jump to conclusions)

I just watched Saw X and holy shit it topped Saw 2 as my favorite movie . I never knew that could happen . Saw 2 has been my favorite in the franchise since i watched it as a teenager. I was blown away by this movie and i am excited to watch it again in a couple of days .
Love that I'm not the only one who watched the reality show Scream Queens back in the day! Wish that Tanedra's part was bigger and that we got more than two seasons of Scream Queens. There's a reality show for everything, we need a horror reality tv show!
Okay last few comments I swear lol. I love how they re-contextualized Amanda’s actions in Saw3 with Hoffman’s blackmailing her to kill Lynn. Especially cuz this unintentionally helped Hoffman to also take out Kramer, (blackmailing Amanda to shoot Lynn lead Jeff to retaliate, killing her and Kramer) giving him total control of games 4-6. Without his former mentor and rival in the picture, he was free to kill whomever he wanted, though he’s since turned Jigsaw’s “rehabilitation” games into utter bloodbaths. Granted Amanda wasn’t doing any better job, making it so none of the victims in Saw3 had ANY chance of survival either. And really, all Hoffman is, is Amanda if she lived through that game. She’d have gone on to do this too, had she not been left with an ultimatum. I do appreciate this one vestige of humanity that Amanda still had to protect the kids of the games’ victims. She let Donny’s kid live in Saw2, as well as giving Jeff’s daughter a warning regarding Hoffman. She knew she wouldn’t leave game 3 alive, yet still chose to leave that one bit of hope for that kid. It’s also a shame Perez and the remnants of the department let him in on too much.
Hey there. I actually didn't mind the letter explanation for Amanda either since it just alway felt weird how she just went bat-shit crazy all of a sudden in Saw 3. As for the Kerry & Troy traps that are known as Amanda's unwinnable traps, i honestly believe they were rigged by Hoffman since he did rig Timothy's trap (the rack) & i think he would've done the same for Amanda to make her appear unstable & not living by John's work. Especially since Hoffman's line "all he had to do" was said at Troy's crime scene AND Kerry's tape (or Troy's tape, can't remember 100%). Also, he would have motive to go after Kerry & Troy more than Amanda since Kerry was on to him. Plus, Troy & Kerry's traps don't fit Amanda's shotgun collar (where she confirms she built it) while Kerry, Troy, & Timothy's traps seemed very hostile & made me think of Seth Baxter's trap & how both that trap & Kerry's were both high in the air. Just my thoughts & there's a lot of unanswered questions during Saw 3.
I've always loved Amanda's character since day 1! all these little gems and extra info and character development they sprinkled throughout the series, even if only in flashback, is just *chef's kiss* to me. #justiceforamanda
I like how the SAW movies are almost always chronologically directly following the previous movie, so Saw 5 ends in the detective going into the glass case and he's leaving the glass case at the start of SAW 6. Then they add flashbacks to give more back story to the previous movies.
So happy to see you continuing the Saw franchise!! And I love the editing of having both your faces in circles on the screen during parts of the movie, very cool! 😊
One of the best Saw films simply because it dives more into John Kramer's psychology, and hypocrisy, than most of them do. I never thought John was morally right, ever, because no one can possibly live up to his austere moral standards, least of all himself. Jigsaw had very personal vendettas against Cecil, the man responsible for the death of his unborn child, and William Easton, a man who represented everything he despised in life, and he certainly didn't allow them the chance to live in his games, he's basically like Amanda in that respect. And yet, he thought Jeff-from-Saw-III's vengeance against the people involved in the death of his son made him a target for his self-styled moral crusade. Why is one vengeance less valid than the other?
This is exactly my problem with Saw 6. That kid should have been put in a trap ASAP because melting that guy from the inside out after he legitimately learned his lesson goes against everything John Kramer ever said he believed in.

The ‘pound of flesh trap’ in the beginning is without a doubt (probably along with the ‘Rack Trap’ from ‘Saw III’) is the most brutal, twisted, gnarly trap ever in the Saw Series. Every time I watch it I feel a little nauseous and I feel like I’m gonna pass out. The acting, effects, it’s done SOO WELL here! 👌0_o🤢🥴
I always love the random bits of knowledge Cody drops, like using a cleaver will be faster 😂 plus he knew a suspicious amount about the hydroflouric acid.🤔
As someone who has to self-administer daily subcutaneous injections, the final trap feels like John Kramer’s final f.u. to the CEO. Many people who suffer from weak immune systems, or immunocompromised states have to subject themselves to injections to stay alive, and it’s painful enough to do that. And of course there’s the other hell of getting insurance companies to actually cover said medications, something else I’m all too familiar with. And so for Weston’s characters to have (I’m oddballing this from the scene) 50 needles inject him simultaneously, albeit with acid, gives him a taste of a fraction of the pain he denied the customers who endure it just to stay alive. I thought that was a really clever foil.
What I love about William's game is someone always loses, much like the helpless people who need health insurance. Like on the carousel when the girl shouts she's pregnant, and we never find out whether or not that was true, but who cares because the gun (or the healthcare system) destroyed her anyway. I love it, so powerful!
You guys aren’t ready for SAW the Final Chapter/3D! Everyone hates on it but in my opinion it has some of the hardest to watch and most gut wrenching traps and it wraps up the og franchise in a pretty tight way. Underrated imo
@@a7000zo I'm not sure how much the color correction would help. A big part of the disdain that people have toward 3D comes from the bizarre angry tone that it seems to have toward women. James from Dead Meat touched on it during his Kill Count for the movie, but it's really off putting from the jump. I'm just happy that it isn't present in any of the other movies in the franchise.

I think saw 3d just sucks in general. The dr Gordon reveal was rushed and felt too much like fan service without actually serving a purpose. The writing isn’t the best either. Jill tucks actor is really bad and so is the actor for the detective so you’ve got two main actors of a film who are giving the worst performance ever, it’s just not fun to watch. Also Hoffman’s character became so 1 dimensional that when you compare him to John, it’s not very enticing

I've been loving this viewing of the Saw franchise! I've watched all of the movies (minus Saw X since it just came out) several times but when I watch it with you guys, it's like watching it with fresh eyes again. From your comments about this movie, I think you guys will enjoy Saw 3D! It's a little campy especially since the blood is pink (for it to show up red in 3D) but it's definitely a decent watch.
So glad you guys liked this one. Funny story- I'm in a sorority and I'm going through recruitment right now. My friend and I (who are obsessed) had a little competition where we tried to find a girl who liked horror movies and who has seen Saw xD Today (the last day) I finally found one, but she told me she thought the movies started to suck after 3 😆She's not that wrong.. but I think that's what gives them their little bit of charm :)
I really like 6. Probably 2nd in my Saw rankings. Kinda depressing that the social commentary on the despicable state of American healthcare/insurance industry remains equally topical today 😨
I swear, these movies building up to bigger, wilder twists every single time should feel like cheap diminishing returns, and yet they always somehow get me to a point where I'm hyped for it.
More like top 5 in my opinion. Saw 3 and X were more emotional (and focused) films, with X beneffiting from a stronger lead performance on top of it. Saw and Saw II are both still the top tier entries. Not to say I don't like VI. It's still a strong sequel. I just didn't care about some of its unfair victims, Erickson and Perez being wasted, the side stories being totally detatched from each other, and this idea that people need to die in order for William to advance his test. It goes against Kramer's MO.

Saws 1-3 are all focused and emotional films, which is definitely where the strength of X comes from. 2 is consistently my favorite in the franchise, and having now seen X I feel comfortable ranking it top 5. As for 6, even if the trap plot is kinda disconnected from the detective plot, they both have such compelling scenes that I find myself rewatching them often. Specifically the Carousel Trap, Easton’s flashbacks with John, and “Right Now You’re Feeling Helpless”.
Love these Saw reactions from you guys. The first 2 Saws are really well made, and the rest end up having issues. But 6 ends up having a great game, great traps, really interesting police investigating, it's one of the most entertaining. Also I love the irony of the tap being voice altered is off Hoffman saying "Right now you're feeling helpless" and in this movie he is basically saying it to himself while the cops are onto him.
The breathing trap is incredibly deceptive. You’d think holding in your breathe is better, but it’s not, cuz then when you have to exhale, you’ll take an even larger inhale, potentially multiple in a row. I’d wonder if the better approach would be taking slower inhales and exhales…but the guy who smoked had no chance.
I detest them both. But I like Hoffman because he is a scumbag... that doesn't sound right. I like Hoffman as a character, as a villain. A real villain. I never saw Jigsaw as a villain (in fact, this movie makes him a hero, going after an insurance company). I loved Amanda until the 3rd movie. I hated her transition (no, not kind 🙃 😉) from being a sympathetic, likeable disciple of Jigsaw who wanted to follow in Jigsaw's righteous path to being a unsympathetic psychotic bxtch, whose games were unwinnable, showing her to be a heartless, remorseless killer. I really had my hopes set on Amanda being around a lot longer. That was my only gripe about Saw III.
I just saw the ratings on rotten tomatoes for Saw X. I haven't seen it yet but oh my god i feel happy crying for the first time in my life. Finally Saw getting love it deserve.
The beginning people were predatory lenders. The movie is discussing 2007 issues like housing and healthcare. They were lending out mortgages knowing the people taking the loans couldn’t repay them and would take back their homes leaving them homeless.

The carousel is my favorite trap In the series for how poetic it is to the situation of the insurance guy who basically said “I choose who lives and dies” well here is that idea executed in all its glory Plus the hardest line in the whole series “when you’re killing me, you look at me”
This is definitely one of the best sequels in the franchise, 3D is pretty good, Jigsaw is ok, Spiral is good and Saw X is near perfect. Happy Spooky Season, looking forward to more horror movies. 🎃🤘

Hey, it's Jasper from The 100 :D (The son of the dead father). The ending to this was so fucking AMAZING. Hoffman plays the PERFECT villain. Hoffman's such a badass villain :D. William I ended up rooting for him in the end and holy shit, his death was huge and 6, Jigsaw and 4 are my favorites.
It’s definitely OTT but I can understand why people like this franchise. Definitely a suspense of disbelief too. It’s too elaborate and doesn’t come across realistic in time, etc. Overall, it’s decent.
Keep in mind these traps have been altered by Hoffman to make it where someone has to die also Hoffman was voicing the tapes for Williams game you can tell that when John's voice is talking on the tapes the voice sounds a little weird expect for when he's talking on the TV that's actually him speaking not Hoffman

Hey there. I actually didn't mind the letter explanation for Amanda either since it just alway felt weird how she just went bat-shit crazy all of a sudden in Saw 3. As for the Kerry & Troy traps that are known as Amanda's unwinnable traps, i honestly believe they were rigged by Hoffman since he did rig Timothy's trap (the rack) & i think he would've done the same for Amanda to make her appear unstable & not living by John's work. Especially since Hoffman's line "all he had to do" was said at Troy's crime scene AND Kerry's tape (or Troy's tape, can't remember 100%). Also, he would have motive to go after Kerry & Troy more than Amanda since Kerry was on to him. Plus, Troy & Kerry's traps don't fit Amanda's shotgun collar (where she confirms she built it) while Kerry, Troy, & Timothy's traps seemed very hostile & made me think of Seth Baxter's trap & how both that trap & Kerry's were both high in the air. Just my thoughts & there's a lot of unanswered questions during Saw 3.

I like how the SAW movies are almost always chronologically directly following the previous movie, so Saw 5 ends in the detective going into the glass case and he's leaving the glass case at the start of SAW 6. Then they add flashbacks to give more back story to the previous movies.

One of the best Saw films simply because it dives more into John Kramer's psychology, and hypocrisy, than most of them do. I never thought John was morally right, ever, because no one can possibly live up to his austere moral standards, least of all himself. Jigsaw had very personal vendettas against Cecil, the man responsible for the death of his unborn child, and William Easton, a man who represented everything he despised in life, and he certainly didn't allow them the chance to live in his games, he's basically like Amanda in that respect. And yet, he thought Jeff-from-Saw-III's vengeance against the people involved in the death of his son made him a target for his self-styled moral crusade. Why is one vengeance less valid than the other?
This is exactly my problem with Saw 6. That kid should have been put in a trap ASAP because melting that guy from the inside out after he legitimately learned his lesson goes against everything John Kramer ever said he believed in.

Exactly. John wanted William to die no matter what, just like he wanted Cecil to die. That sort of hypocrisy is both infuriating and humanizing for someone like John.
The ‘pound of flesh trap’ in the beginning is without a doubt (probably along with the ‘Rack Trap’ from ‘Saw III’) is the most brutal, twisted, gnarly trap ever in the Saw Series. Every time I watch it I feel a little nauseous and I feel like I’m gonna pass out. The acting, effects, it’s done SOO WELL here! 👌0_o🤢🥴
I always love the random bits of knowledge Cody drops, like using a cleaver will be faster 😂 plus he knew a suspicious amount about the hydroflouric acid.🤔

As someone who has to self-administer daily subcutaneous injections, the final trap feels like John Kramer’s final f.u. to the CEO. Many people who suffer from weak immune systems, or immunocompromised states have to subject themselves to injections to stay alive, and it’s painful enough to do that. And of course there’s the other hell of getting insurance companies to actually cover said medications, something else I’m all too familiar with.
And so for Weston’s characters to have (I’m oddballing this from the scene) 50 needles inject him simultaneously, albeit with acid, gives him a taste of a fraction of the pain he denied the customers who endure it just to stay alive. I thought that was a really clever foil.
What I love about William's game is someone always loses, much like the helpless people who need health insurance. Like on the carousel when the girl shouts she's pregnant, and we never find out whether or not that was true, but who cares because the gun (or the healthcare system) destroyed her anyway. I love it, so powerful!
You guys aren’t ready for SAW the Final Chapter/3D! Everyone hates on it but in my opinion it has some of the hardest to watch and most gut wrenching traps and it wraps up the og franchise in a pretty tight way. Underrated imo
Totally underrated film. But I don't think the 3D cinematography helps. If they color correct it in the future, people might be more open to it.
@@a7000zo I'm not sure how much the color correction would help. A big part of the disdain that people have toward 3D comes from the bizarre angry tone that it seems to have toward women. James from Dead Meat touched on it during his Kill Count for the movie, but it's really off putting from the jump. I'm just happy that it isn't present in any of the other movies in the franchise.
@@82Jasteryeh people calling the movie misogynistic are hilarious. One out of 7 films placed a higher emphasis on making women the objects of torture and suddenly its mean lol. I think saw 3d just sucks in general. The dr Gordon reveal was rushed and felt too much like fan service without actually serving a purpose. The writing isn’t the best either. Jill tucks actor is really bad and so is the actor for the detective so you’ve got two main actors of a film who are giving the worst performance ever, it’s just not fun to watch. Also Hoffman’s character became so 1 dimensional that when you compare him to John, it’s not very enticing

I've been loving this viewing of the Saw franchise! I've watched all of the movies (minus Saw X since it just came out) several times but when I watch it with you guys, it's like watching it with fresh eyes again. From your comments about this movie, I think you guys will enjoy Saw 3D! It's a little campy especially since the blood is pink (for it to show up red in 3D) but it's definitely a decent watch.
So glad you guys liked this one. Funny story- I'm in a sorority and I'm going through recruitment right now. My friend and I (who are obsessed) had a little competition where we tried to find a girl who liked horror movies and who has seen Saw xD Today (the last day) I finally found one, but she told me she thought the movies started to suck after 3 😆She's not that wrong.. but I think that's what gives them their little bit of charm :)

More like top 5 in my opinion. Saw 3 and X were more emotional (and focused) films, with X beneffiting from a stronger lead performance on top of it. Saw and Saw II are both still the top tier entries.
Not to say I don't like VI. It's still a strong sequel. I just didn't care about some of its unfair victims, Erickson and Perez being wasted, the side stories being totally detatched from each other, and this idea that people need to die in order for William to advance his test. It goes against Kramer's MO.

Saws 1-3 are all focused and emotional films, which is definitely where the strength of X comes from. 2 is consistently my favorite in the franchise, and having now seen X I feel comfortable ranking it top 5. As for 6, even if the trap plot is kinda disconnected from the detective plot, they both have such compelling scenes that I find myself rewatching them often. Specifically the Carousel Trap, Easton’s flashbacks with John, and “Right Now You’re Feeling Helpless”.

Love these Saw reactions from you guys. The first 2 Saws are really well made, and the rest end up having issues. But 6 ends up having a great game, great traps, really interesting police investigating, it's one of the most entertaining. Also I love the irony of the tap being voice altered is off Hoffman saying "Right now you're feeling helpless" and in this movie he is basically saying it to himself while the cops are onto him.
The breathing trap is incredibly deceptive. You’d think holding in your breathe is better, but it’s not, cuz then when you have to exhale, you’ll take an even larger inhale, potentially multiple in a row. I’d wonder if the better approach would be taking slower inhales and exhales…but the guy who smoked had no chance.
Seeing Amanda again was the best thing for me about this movie. I detests Hoffman with every fiber of my being.
I detest them both. But I like Hoffman because he is a scumbag... that doesn't sound right. I like Hoffman as a character, as a villain. A real villain. I never saw Jigsaw as a villain (in fact, this movie makes him a hero, going after an insurance company). I loved Amanda until the 3rd movie. I hated her transition (no, not kind 🙃 😉) from being a sympathetic, likeable disciple of Jigsaw who wanted to follow in Jigsaw's righteous path to being a unsympathetic psychotic bxtch, whose games were unwinnable, showing her to be a heartless, remorseless killer. I really had my hopes set on Amanda being around a lot longer. That was my only gripe about Saw III.

The beginning people were predatory lenders. The movie is discussing 2007 issues like housing and healthcare. They were lending out mortgages knowing the people taking the loans couldn’t repay them and would take back their homes leaving them homeless.

This is definitely one of the best sequels in the franchise, 3D is pretty good, Jigsaw is ok, Spiral is good and Saw X is near perfect. Happy Spooky Season, looking forward to more horror movies. 🎃🤘

Hey, it's Jasper from The 100 :D (The son of the dead father). The ending to this was so fucking AMAZING. Hoffman plays the PERFECT villain. Hoffman's such a badass villain :D. William I ended up rooting for him in the end and holy shit, his death was huge and 6, Jigsaw and 4 are my favorites.

It’s definitely OTT but I can understand why people like this franchise. Definitely a suspense of disbelief too. It’s too elaborate and doesn’t come across realistic in time, etc. Overall, it’s decent.
Saw VI has the best story imo. And it’s one of my favorite in the series for that reason.

To really get a background on Saw 4 & 5 you have to look up VH1's Scream Queens. It's on CZcams in some places. This was a reality show to win an appearance in Saw 4 - and one of the mentor/judges is Amanda (Shawnee) from the movies. The woman who won is the one who cut off her arm in the first scene of the movie. The winner of season 2 is in Saw 5. :) Thought y'all would love knowing this background.
