- Paramotor Trike Crash, landing that didn't go as planned. I was getting ready to get back in the saddle and fly my paramotor. A friend invited us out to his field, unfortunately the winds were switching and for him, well the landing didn't go as planned.

Great job in helping out. He was lucky you were there to assist, leaking gas and running motor with trapped pilot could have had a far worse ending. Definitely some respect for the conditions needed before flying 🪂🪂
Yeah the leaking gas always spooks me a bit 😳💥
Looks like he had a frontal collapse from not applying enough break! and wing over shot him. This is what lead to his glider going left and him rolling. Practice kiting kiting kiting is a must! to becoming a great pilot! I’m a firm believer in that! You learn to feel when glider is gonna overshoot you. and you get on the break so it doesn’t you learn to control. Thanks for sharing fly safe!
He did get a break, he got a broken arm, because he didn't apply his brakes properly. Now he is painfully aware of the difference between a break and a brake.
That’s why Dell Schanze has his students kiting so well lonnnnng before they ever fly
@@streetwiseguitar5113 One of Dell's students died while kiting, get expert advice before you believe what Dell says.
Rough take off rough landing, he almost made it. Glad to see he will be alright. Thanks for the video
You should see my tandem landing video 🤣
@@SirDrifto I looked on your site never seen a tandem landing video. subbed.
So I'm a foot launch guy all the way, but I trike in cold weather, XC, and tandem. His fundamentals need work. My trike taxi's are typically shorter than my foot launch. I also kill my wing asap after landings he got back on it after landing.
Yeah I always had a bad tendency to let the wing overshoot on a trike in the early years. Trikes are great on those no wind landings type days though 👍😉
Thats a clean little camper! Looks like someone put a lot of work into it. Tikes seem so sketchy. At least on your feet you can move sideways to keep under the wing.
Man, glad he is OK! Looks like there were lots of opportunities to reconsoder this flight before wheels up, but I get it, we all love to fly and want to get in the air. Not saying this was avoidable, I wasn't there.. But maybe some lessons can be learned from this event that will keep us all safer in the future. I hope you share those lessons in the future. Great job getting to him quickly and getting him the help he needed. In this hobby, we are all mechanics and first responders! lol. Be safe!
I am confused, was he trying to do a touch and go? Didn't look like it. Look like he was coming in to land, which then begs the question, why didn't he kill the motor right before touching down? They said he couldn't kill the motor after the crash because the line was cut. However if he would have killed it before landing, none of this would have happened. Even the description says landing didn't go as planned. Specially with trikes you need to kill your motor when you are committed to land for so many reasons.
Kiting..Kiting….Kiting. Can’t say it enough.
He lives to fly another day though, thankfully.
Kiting is everything. He’s doing good. He will be airborne in no time
I'm a wimp when it comes to the wind. Fair weather flying
I’m the same way with cold temps now 😂
looks like he landed downwind if the chute passed him after he touched down
Holy crap! I’d recognize Daniels voice anywhere! Great trainer! 👍
He's a great guy
I just came across this video today and thought the same thing! Thought I recognized that coat too
Quick recovery and back flying.
If you look at this closely, the pilot did not pull down on the brakes upon landing, stalling the glider, which allowed the glider to go over his trike. Clearly pilot error.
Yes that is true
That looked like a very uncontrolled take off and landing.... looks like he was fighting it, instead of flying it.
Freaking love your truck
Thank you!
Crazy..........glad he is ok!
You reacted well.
Thank you 🙏
You can see the flag in the background he actually tried landing across wind I wonder why !!! it looks like the trike had some damage where he fixed the net before also what happened before this accident hummm Sorry guys picture means 1000 words
Looks like it was a spicey meatball
Aw that is too bad. The takeoff looked a little sketchy but I thought he had the landing dang it. Hope he’s ok!
I've had bad landings myself. He's doing much better was a dislocated elbow.
My last time up in my PPC, I had a harder then expected landing, which blew out my front tire, which locked up, buckling my front forks, resulting in a sudden stop, & forward somersault as the wing went over, ending in me hanging upside down in my harness. No injuries for me other than minor bruising, having had more violent impacts on a peddle bike!
Repairs in process. Lost the front forks & three blade prop $,$$$. 😖
The unfortunate & common side of what we do. Thankfully he had help, as did I!! Freaked the poor guys out, when My machine dug in & rolled upside down.
It happens to all of us. Did you get hurt?
@@SirDrifto
Barely, just contusions from the violent & sudden stop from the seatbelt & my shin hit something as I was flipped upside down upon impact. I was trained to tuck everything up & in, letting the role cage do its job. So I basically walked away like no big deal.
Took a bit for my mind to wrap around the fact that I was suddenly upside down, but once reorientated, I put my feet towards the ground, & dropped out of my harness, after turning everything off. 🤷♂️
i saw no wind sock,,he landed 90 degrees to the directon he took off,,nothing like a tailwind to cause the wing to over shoot you
Like a boss
Good call ending flying for the day.
Godspeed and Blessings
Fly/walk with Jesus Christ. Stay Dangerous
Sorry about the roll over,Im a trike pilot and have had 3 over the years.I fly a Charger and have launched out of some short spots.Im a little confused why it was taking so long to get airborne,as Im up in 60 feet usually. Was the engine making full trust?Seemed like there was plenty of room just took a long time to get off the ground.
Charger is a great wing. I think the changing winds threw a curveball
Could it be that the reflex profile was open???
Wow. Major bummer. Hope his arm is okay.
He should be flying in no time
WY is he landing downwind?
He likes to keep things spicey.
I have a trike it makes no difference up wind down wind cross wind but if you have no idea what your doing this happens. it's not hard to see from the take-off he doesn't have any idea what's going on
Where is your WINDSOCK???
Doh... Sh*t happens. Quite a long run for takeoff. I've earned a membership to the broken prop club via trike as well. Hopefully a quick recovery! Repair the plane, repair the pilot, up...up and away!
He’s a good guy and a good pilot. Winds just weren’t In his favor that day
@@SirDrifto There are 2 windsocks showing nil wind. If he is a good pilot why was his motor running? Why did he not flare and or stall the wing? This is odd behavior I would like to know what he was thinking because it looks like he just blacked out and caused the crash. Even after the crash was inevitable all he had to do was hug his arms around himself and he would have been fine, seems like he did everything wrong that he could once he touched down. Why?
Watched it again, and after he landed the wing started to stall and the front wheel lifted, then he hit the throttle and caused a frontal. Maybe he was trying to do a very poor touch and go to show off, as you 2 got into the air.
@@mikes6216 Attempting a touch and go or long taxi, would explain a lot. Tbf, the launch wasn't exactly smooth. Wasnt a terrible 'crash', its unfortunate he's didnt quite brace for that just right..
well ... I land with the motor off... but thats me...
He could have caught on fire had you guys not been there.
Sketchy is right.
This accident would not have happened if the pilot had received SUPER training from SUPERDell.
Probally wojldent of happend if he had any common sense to but this guy don't have a clue
why didnt you call ambluance it could have been bad very lucky hopes hes okay
He didn't want us to call.
@@SirDrifto i still think you should have called you nevere know
@@powderpuff1964 if the pilot (a grown man) says not to call, then you don't call. Ambulances are expensive and adults have the right to make their own choices. The liability rests on the pilot and legally so.
@@shanesplanetshane3795 I cannot believe an ambulance
Is is chargeable I’m sure they are here in the UK, ambulances are free, just a question, how much ambulances what is the charge many things colin that is one lovely sport I’ve seen them do it on the south coast in the UK looks good fun. All the best Colin
@@powderpuff1964 Ambulance costs differ by hospital. It used to be pretty close to $500, its likely more now, depending on what they do to you o the way. Even more expensive is, helicopters.
