I love cross eye 3D. Ever since I figured out how to do It I can do it effortlessly at will.

Me too.. i eventually bought myself a 3dkamera going down this rabbit hole..
i find it really funny that stuff gets sharper in 3d.. does it do that for you too?

games should include this as a default option, it's really cool and a nice feature for those who don't have the extra cash for a 3D setup.

Most people say it causes eye strain but sometimes I do It for half an hour straight and feel fine so I think it varies from person to person

Once you have figured out the technique, it's the most fun you can have whilst remaining vertical :-)

And what's amazing, you can actually use your hands to shield the sides of the 3D image and still see it properly!

Damn! I tried it because I never considered doing it, but now that I did cover the left and right images with my hands, I can focus in cross-eye 3D vision more efficiently and without the dizzy part in the end, feels very natural to the eyes! thanks for the tipp!

nice upload I just found out about this technique.. I get motion sickness with regular HL2 and what do you know I still get it with my eyes crossed ! 40 minutes sooner ! thanks anyway !

      @funky3ddy Před 9 lety

Yeah, that's strange. I remember when I played it yeeears ago, I also got motion sickness..
It's probably the only game which made me physically sick.

Deus Ex and Soldier of Fortune (both first versions) did too for me. Today I train my 3 Eve Online accounts and thats enough playing for me. Come's a day where its fuckin awesome to be trolling crabs in the sea floor in a warm wetsuit instead of being trolled online by kids on a 12 cores computer cooled with noobs tears.

I did a little bit of research yesterday, and it appears that it's narrow field of view which causes motion sickness. Usually most games have large 90 degrees field of view, but Half-Life 2 had narrow 70 degrees, so you see less, and what you see moves very fast and smooth.
Now that you know the reason, I guess on PC you can try and hack the game (usually it involves opening .cfg (config) files in Notepad, and changing few values here and there).
Brrr.. just remembered that nasty feeling. I guess you can also try scopolamine medication (you rub the paste on your skin, and nausea disappears, it's actually hallucinogenic if you put too much of it, hehe).

Two ways to watch this in 3d:
Method 1: Cross eyes and focus on middle screen
    Pros: clear
Cons: kinda strains eyes and everything feel small in scale
Method 2: Depends on device size, but if you have a phone you can put the phone right up to your eyes to where the two screens are parallel to your eyes.
Pros: eyes stay in resting position; sense of scale is more accurate
    Cons: everything is super blurry
VR is basically method 2, but with lenses to make the image clear.

but looking at this with method 2 makes it inverted. really wierd to look at.
