I am the mysterious CZcams person who makes odd videos that no one asked for, but you can't look away because there's a strange amount of detail in them. To my subs who been here forever, thank u (heart emoji). Maybe someday I'll upload consistently, I make like no money on CZcams so it's just a personal passion thing at this point. This video was a break from solo game dev, and way to switch me out of editor mode into creation mode. I love how realistic Gordon’s reactions are. The way he starts becoming more aggressive the more annoyed he was. Also the way he was hesitant about shooting the scientists. I just find it very impressive lol

i like how the textures don't have texture filtering applied and instead look more pixelated instead of blurry
Yeah I made most of it unfiltered, but randomly all the faces have filtering cuz I preferred em that way

In terms of the video, I like all the fancy visual additions to the original textures, almost looks like HL Ray-Traced.

4:19 Gordon's reaction look realistic as hell.
The best part of the animation has to be how well Gordon’s thoughts are conveyed through slight movements and the change in his demeanor. Even without words you can really get a feel for what’s going through his mind, from the confusion, to the annoyance, right into terror and determination.
Oh and Barney probably owes him more than just a beer now, Otis however is owed some donuts from everyone else. That man is a precious resource and is without a doubt the most capable individual in all of Black Mesa, he’s a professional and doesn’t need to hear all of this.
Yes, he doesn’t need to hear all of this, he’s the purest sample we’ve seen yet.

Everything before the cult reveal felt like a Freeman's Mind scene.
I love how Gordon has a cult after him, and the first thing he does while escaping is just flip off every individual scientist that he can.
Even while facing horrors, he's but mildly inconvenienced if anything.

I love how this feels like it could have multiple different stories to it. Is it the NPCs going rogue and rebelling against an abusive player? Is it some kind of bizarre cult that Gordon Freeman is having to deal with? Is it some kind of reality meltdown that only Gordon and that one poor Kleiner are aware of?

Could totally be an abusive player, but I was thinking this was a Freeman's Mind type of Gordon that's getting what was coming to him. Justice for that kleiner scientist that saved him though
it looks to me like a case of "rouge game AI going insane after hundreds of restarts and replays".
Maybe the other scientists keep complaining about those ties. But Gordon never does. So they suspect that he's someone sent by the administration to spy on them. Out of that fear, they want to kill them. The locker room is their point of meetings, and that one Kleiner wanted to use the toilet, but he got right in the middle of the meeting.

They caused the fucking cascade just to capture Gordon and then NUKED IT ALL to hide the evidence.

I am blown away by all the voice lines you've worked into a story. Things we heard repeated over and over while playing the game suddenly didn't feel redundant.

Seeing the low-poly models from Half Life in beautiful modern day lighting, along with the stock Half Life sound effects being used to make actually good sound design are my favourite type of videos.

I love the choreography and blocking. It adds so much personality, especially to Freeman. It's kind of how i expect he would move in Feeeman's Mind.

The more I watch this the more I notice.
Love the little stuff like the headcrab sound as the scientist lunges at the elevator and Gordon turning off the flashlight at the end.

I cannot emphasize how impressive it is that you are able to make all of these characters so damn expressive, Gordon especially. Every little mannerism and eyebrow lift adds so much to his character, it's honestly amazing. Very well done 👍👍👍

Sometimes i feel that the most original and postmodern HL-related stuff comes out on the HL1 side of the comunity. With examples like HLVRAI and now this, it feels like after many years of making content about the second game people find new inspiration in classic and that's really cool.

I love everything about this, the animation, the style, the way you used the voicelines to potray actual emotion of the characters, the jokes, just everything in this is so amazingly done!
I LOVE THE TWIST OF THIS AND HOW IT GETS DISTURBING
Oh Gods! It was cool! At the beginning, it all started as a kind of visualization of funny phrases of scientists, but then suddenly everything turns out to be more complicated. A certain tie cult wants to sacrifice Freeman. This was an unexpected turn of events.
I liked the visualization of the expressive character animations. It looks smooth and is great.
I also liked the moment at the end when Gordon saved Barney. I thought he would leave him. I immediately imagine a plot in my head in which Gordon and Barney will try to escape from the crazy cult of ties. Everything will turn out to be so serious that the cult of ties is calling on the lord of ridiculous ties from another dimension and for this they need Gordon.
I understand that making even such an animation requires a lot of work and time. But I like to fantasize about what the whole story could look like, like a whole movie.
The Lord of Ridiculous Ties is probably the G-man.
