Ha, yeah. I ordered 4" length because my spindle travel stops with the nose about 4" above the table and I wanted to be able to face sheet stock that is on the table. I need to order some stub length for when I want to go to town on a piece in the vise.

Yea. I think Fadals are the only machines that the spindle won't touch the table. They have always been my favorite machines to run as well as the easiest.

I actually like it, because if there is nothing on the table or in the spindle, impossible to crash it. I also like have the extra height when you have parts in a vise.

What taper holder is it? I go to town all the time with a 3.0" Mitsubishi cutter with a 6" holder. 10-12k rpm .125DOC at 200ipm even on parts in a vise. Makes some music but works very well. These are 50 taper machines though.

CAT40, It is a lot less rigid. Plus it is a ball linear machine. There are a few things going on here, first after I looked at the cut my stock ended up being just a little wider then the face mill, so I was kind of slotting a bit. Not the best. Second, my Z ball screw already had a lot of backlash in it, and it is getting worse. Hoping to get the new one in this weekend. I have done this cut recipe before and it was fine with about 90% WOC. I also limit my cuts to around 5 HP because I'm running the machine on single phase power. By the math I can go up to about 7 continuous but I really don't like to push it. It will start to really heat up the bridge rectifier and bus caps from all the ripple current.

John, send me an email and I will send you the order sheet from Newegg. You can order the exact stuff or shop around and do your own thing. Email address is in the video descriptions, except this one, doh.

That was a soft jaw ;) 2" 5 flute face, 100 IPM, 0.125" deep, 2" step over, 0.007" chip load, have done that cut before so I was a little surprised.
