The way Goku introduces himself to Goten is perfect in terms of characterization. He just simply walks up to him, tells him his name and says hi, which fits Goku’s honest and straightforward personality. He doesn’t try to categorize himself to Goten by telling him "Hey I’m your dad!", he just says who he is like he would for anyone else and let’s Goten make the first move. It’s unfortunate that this is a filler scene that it doesn’t happen in the original manga.

@@narukunn5152 not an assumption, saiyans are literally fighting autistics and i am not calling them dumb either, they are too smart for their own good. they can reach new levels in extreme stress but they haven't reach it in more than a thousand years because they are completely hardened by their years of constant combat that they don't even care if their brother died or if their entire species died out. it is in their evolutionary nature to barely care to keep them calm in battles to the death. a species that gets physically stronger when death grace them, a species that literally rearranges their body structure to increase its output beyond their physical limits if they will it hard enough. do you know how fucking crazy that is? what else but a fighting autistic could do this? its a damn miracle saiyan were still able to reproduce when all they could think was battle and food. saiyan woman had to whip them really hard so they won't go extinct.

Goku meeting Goten, and Goku showing up as an adult in dragonball and seeing everyone for the first time since being a kid are two episodes that will always get me in the feels. These tournament arcs are hands down the brightest part of every Dragon Ball series by far in my eyes. Such a wholesome reaction, I’m so happy I found you guys.
There's a dark undertone here of Mr. Satan coping with a lot of grief since his wife passed by being this character
This whole arc is such an emotional rollercoaster, I'm looking forward to this so much.
Its interesting. Nowadays I prefer the most of the Buu saga over the Cell saga. There are far more character moments that stand out in it as opposed to Cell where it is mostly Gohan who was center.
Goku showing up out of nowhere to hug the gang will ALWAYS be a tear-jerker.
So awesome to see most of the Z fighters together again. But what really nailed the episode was Goku meeting the mini him for the first time. I really like how Goku does not instantly say to Goten ‘I’m your dad’ he says hello says his name and lets Goten make the first move.
Watching these feels like watching it with friends that are ACTUALLY into DBZ. Most of my friends that were into DBZ have moved on with their lives or passed away. Thanks for these you two. I'm not crying, you're crying. (Okay, I'm crying) Videl slamming around and destroying the heavy bag like that felt like a subtle homage to Bruce Lee.
I see that scene of Goku and Goten meeting around 3 times a month. Probably my favourite in all Dragon Ball. Also, I have to say I expected Madison to shed more tears than Baris in this one.

Goten seeing guko for the first time is so adorable. Though they lookalike, Atleast he knows his dad's story and got to see him. Imagin how sad it must be for kid guko not knowing his father growing up.

Goku didn't know Chi-Chi was pregnant during the Cell Games. The only way he would've known is if Chi-Chi told him, but most women don't know they're pregnant for WEEKS after conception.

The tournament and time with Videl we got in this saga might be my favorite part of DBZ overall. Also, you guys are great. Sometimes you guys entertain me so much that I will watch your video in the morning and again after work at night to pay attention to your reactions one at a time. Hope Madison is ready for this incoming craziness. Shizz is about to get real! Good videos guys!
I’m watching OG Dragon Ball with my younger sister (I’ve been a fan of DB for years, but it’s her first time seeing it), and she’s been enjoying it, and reminding me not to spoil Z since she wants to see the whole thing in the original manga order (which I did too as a kid)… she is already so attached to Goku as a kid… I can already tell she’s going to get so emotional when Goku comes back to Earth and meets Goten for the first time when we get there. It’s so cool to see people react to something you already love for the first time.

This episode was one of the happiest yet saddest episode ever I mean imagine you get to meet your father for the very first time but for only a day. I think getting to reunite with a loved one that’s passed would both make me and break me, because you’re back in my life again temporarily but I’d have to go through the pain of losing them again but permanently 😢

Goten was my favorite when I was 6 years old, it reminded me of myself and Gohan's relationship with my older brother. Now things have changed a bit after 20 years, but I still love Goten and this scene is very important to me!

Actually now that you mention it about wishing there was something as elaborate as the world martial arts tournament in real life. The movie fearless probably has the best real world example of a historical tournament like that.

That's a great moment when Goku is reunited with everyone and meets his other son for the first time. It is sad that Goten didn't meet his dad for all of that time. What always gets me is when Goku didn't want to be wished back and there was a goodbye mement not just for the characters but for us fans too even though we get to see him in his afterlife. It gets you emotional anyway. First time we watched we didn't know we would follow him but kinda suspected because we saw him travel snake way and train with King Kia.
My dad took advantage of this show, he got me to train my body and said I need to focus so I started to train my mind. He said your not focused enough that’s why you can’t control your power ♥️
10 days for a human without the proper foundation like Kirllin, Goku, Yamcha and the other Z group is pretty insane. She had a lot of potential though which helped a lot. I love Gohan so much, not an ego bone in him. He doesn't realy care that Satan has all the credit. He just is himself and goes with the flow and does his best.

He is dead and according to him he isn't coming back.
A one day trip might be fine but if you get attached to talking to the dead everyday you may not move on in the real world.

She's in for a rollercoaster of emotion in this saga
Goku died before Goten was actually born. Essentially, Chi-Chi was pregnant (likely in the *very* early stages, to the point that she likely didn't even know that she was pregnant yet, since there were no visible signs of her being pregnant during the Cell Games) with Goten when Goku died during the Cell Games, so this is the first time Goku & Goten actually got to meet each other. The closest thing Goten had to a father until he finally meets Goku would have been Gohan (which helps to explain why Goten adores Gohan so much, Gohan was the "man of the house" while Goku was dead). I'm sure Goten was told about Goku by Chi-Chi & Gohan plenty of times, but to Goten they were all just stories about someone he'd never actually met before. But now Goten finally has a real person to associate with the stories his mother & brother have told him about his father. At this particular point in time, Goten is likely around the age of 6, as he first transformed into a Super Saiyan the year prior at the age of 5. And since Trunks is one year older than Goten, that means Trunks is 7 years old here. So they're both even younger than Gohan was during the Namek saga (as Gohan was 8 during the Namek saga, and 11 when he defeated Cell, and so now after a 7 year time-skip Gohan is between 17-18). It's also worth noting that the entire Buu arc takes place over the course of just 3 days, so it takes place over an extremely short period of time compared to the previous sagas.
At this is just how the longest day in DBZ starts..
In the original dub Gohan thinks "Videl didn't notice she is already stronger than Mr. Satan.", when she mentions they never train together. Also Videl doesn't say "That could never happen", when Gohan tries to suggest her father might lose. Her dad is partially fake. He is quite strong. He was fighter, but more in sport sense unlike Goku and others, who studied bunch of techniques and trained to gain superhuman powers. Gohan doesn't mention Piccolo by name. He says "I was trained by an acquaintance and my dad". Videl says "He (Goku) must be quite strong." Gohan "He was very strong." Goten appears and says "Hey, hey, dad is going to participate in the tournament so he will be back for one day." Videl is surprised. Gohan scolds Goten for saying that. Videl thinks they only pretend dad died, but in fact he only left them and lives elsewhere (no mention of another woman) and secretly told only to his sons he is going to meet them at the tournament.
Mr. Satan is wondering, why Videl is returning home each day very late, but doesn't suspect any boy, yet. Ten days is very short.
In the plane Gohan says to Kuririn "Dad won't recognize you with those hairs." Kuririn only laughs and says "Yes, sure." Also others do not know Gohan knows Videl and only Gohan knows her father is Mr. Satan. They didn't fight Cell for the fame unlike Mr. Satan, but he didn't want to lose face as well, that is why he does, what he does. The reporter asks Videl about her change in hair style, but she just says "You are annoying. Let me be".

Madison seems like someone who not only likes the fights but also the other scenes in DBZ, the humour, the emotional scenes, fillers etc. After all the major db series are done she can go back to the dragon ball series when Goku was a kid. I'm sure she will like it. She would also understand why Bulma, Yamcha, Puar, Oolong was also emotional in seeing Goku. So remember the time skip after Goku beats King Piccolo and we see him grown at the World Martial Arts Tournament. And guess what he was wearing. A turban around his head covering his hair.

Such a good episode, probably the best "feel good" episode in the entire series, haha. I also feel like the happy soundtrack is almost used exclusively for this episode, but I might be wrong on that.
