Underrated moment in DBZ - when Cell says "incredible" as Gohan unleashes his power.
To dive deeper, you also have Vegeta saying the same thing a little later. Cell and Vegeta both have an appreciation for raw power and are seemingly entranced by the transformation. It's always fascinating when a character like Gohan gets this admiration and respect.
2:20 that’s another favorite part, Cell sensing glimpses of Gohan’s true power for the first time, that little “aah”, Cell knows there’s something more, deep within Gohan, chills.

Gohan Super Saiyan 2 is like a totally different Gohan, the way he looks and talks and his whole attitude, confident and calm, it's just one of the best transformations.
He’s his father’s son.....TRULY
Cell forcing him into the form also unlocked a sadistic streak we hadn’t seen before from Gohan. He went from “I don’t want to fight” to “I’m going to enjoy killing Cell” very quickly. We saw a version of that when Goku first went Super, since he transformed in anger, he had to fight it for control.
I actually have a theory why they call him teen gohan even when he's 9 or 11 years old

@@rawbhd4477 he's technically 11 in manga. but in the anime if you view the super saiyan 2 transformation, gohan didn't just bulk up he literally grew a few inches like the power is to great it forces him to be older. that's my theory.

A lot of people never notice, but gohan fought after transforming again almost the same way we saw trunks transformation and kick this saga off by killing Frieza and his men. Gohan catches the beans like trunks catches his sword after putting it away. It shows future Gohan’s influence on trunks being that gohan was his master, but also shows that since Trunks traveled back in time and gohan was witness to him killing Frieza, maybe it influenced gohan to act like he does when he transforms into ssj2, fights Cell and kills the Jrs. The student becoming the master.
Moral of life: NEVER EVER mess with a patient person's temper, just like how Cell did!
gohan's power up is different from everybody else's...his screams just show him in agony and pain, different from everybody else. They've really hintd the whole show that he isn't a warrior at heart
IMO 4:15 is the best moment in all of DBZ. The entrance with the faulconer score, plus like you said everything in the series has been leading to this. Sick.

This episode solidified why Gohan is my favorite DragonBall character. The epic transformation to SSJ2 with "Gohan Angers" & then utterly destroying the Cell Jrs with "Gohan Fights Frieza" playing. Probably one of my personal favorite episodes is this one because Gohan finally tapped into his true potential & became the warrior Goku always knew Gohan would become.
yeah and I hope we see him lead more. While I love Goku, I want to see the others more, especially Gohan.

I remember watching this when it premiered and being almost scared of Gohans new strength with him being able to literally tear the Cell jrs in half with essentially no effort.
Gohan's swagger while throwing the sensu bean's to trunks and telling him to pass them around and him catching them against the cell jrs was on another level.
The goosebumps still hit for this part, no matter how many times I've seen it. Falconer's score really drives it home, the banter between him and Cell, with the pretext of Gohan's journey to come this far.
It's crazy that Gohan going Super Saiyan 2 briefly was seen by Goku in the time chamber way before his debut, shows how powerful Gohan is!! Awesome reaction as always guys!
That particular scene you speak of is actually anime filler and was never depicted in the manga, so it's non-canon.

When this first showed on Toonami, I had chill of excitement; the scores that played as SSJ2 Gohan was genuinely hype. Then, I saw the following episodes and got chills of fear…At one point, I thought he would turn on everyone. Each level of SSJ achieved, it seems their humanity lessens.
ive cried so many times watching this, because no one believed in gohan. Not even himself, only Goku. Then Krillin saying, dont worry about me. do what u gotta do... tears stream down my face. iove this. love your reaction. I can tell you're a major fan just by all the episodes and the giggling. i love it
This is probably cheesey, but the last couple of months I've been dealing with some health issues and the videos you guys put out have really given me something to look forward to most days and I just wanted to thank you both. Looking forward to seeing this trip all the way to the end.

Who would of thought that teen Gohan reaching SS2 would become every Android's WORST nightmare?? Except for 16 since he was good, but every other Android at the time would be NOTHING compared to teen Gohan. Period. So hype! Some of the best moments of all DB.
Everything about this episode is fluid, the music, the art, story telling... great reaction guys
from Trunks point of view, seeing Gohan reach this level of super saiyan you know has given him the biggest boost of confidence despite losing Gohan in his timeline. this was the "secret" Goku knew about, though not quite what he planned, but hoped the outcome would be the same.
I really liked every kill Gohan makes with the cells Jr the color change. To me personally it makes the blow much more impactful than if there wasn't no filter. Technically vegeta,trunks, and goku are ascended super saiyans. They broke through the ceiling of limitations of super saiyan which has never been done before. In the beginning of the Android saga, everyone thought super saiyan is the peak of power for the saiyans. It's very unheard of that their is a level beyond it and it could've easily been that way. But Gohan has reach the true ascended super saiyan.
As a fan of this show for almost 30 years, there's something heart-warming about seeing a first-time viewers reactions to the episodes.
Glad to see the original powerup. The part where Gohan screamed releasing his energy beams while his theme music started playing is the best part hands down.

In my honest opinion, this transformation is by far my favorite along with Gokus first time SSJ and versus android 19.
It even feels like this SSJ2 was much more stronger than adult ssj2. Something about it thats just so special.

This episode is my favorite DBZ of all time and can arguably the greatest episode ever. From recapping Gohan super saiyan 2 transformation to Gohan literally destroying Cell Jr is just amazing. Gohan Super Saiyan 2 is the best version of him and he was at the point the greatest character ever. I’m so happy that you guy reacted to this and gohan is my favorite character

So as far as the power difference between Super Saiyan 1 and 2, Super Saiyan 1 gives a 50x boost in power and Super Saiyan 2 doubles that, making it a 100x boost.
Also, fun fact about this episode, the creators miscounted the amount of Cell Juniors. Cell only made 7 of them, but Gohan killed 8. Just something I didn't notice at the time when I first watched it lol, I was too stunned to notice XD
Haha I noticed that too! That he killed 8 Cell Juniors, I was counting them as I was so hyped. But this little mistake got us an epic extra kill from SSJ2 Gohan, it was so amazing. One of my favourite moments of Dragon ball ever.

The only difference that from ssj1 and 2 like you said har style ss1 just just flares (yellow hair) ss2 flares up straight up the electrical energy around them. But I think they are also stronger, faster and more agile with fighting moves.
You can see it with Gohan he can blow up the mini cells with one blow if he wants too. That kind of power to completely destroy the mini cells is pretty amazing.
This is the reason Gohan is one my favorite characters in DBZ he's got a lot of potential.

What an ep! I remember as a kid, I watched this late on Cartoon Network on a Friday night (should of been in bed 😂) couldn’t contain my excitement! Thank you Baris and Maddison for bringing back those memories!
Amazing episode!! Now that you guys have seen Gohan's power, I would like to point out a theory on why Goku gave Cell a senzu bean. It could be because it would make Cell cocky when he recovered his strength. That way he won't have to be on guard when fighting Gohan which caused him to play around with him not knowing the full potential of his opponent (this is something Vegeta and Frieza would do and Cell has both of their DNA)
I don't think it was ever confirmed on why Goku did it, but I don't think he would just do it because he's a dumbass since Goku has one of the best battle IQ in anime history. Goku is a great father and he wouldn't let Gohan fight if he couldn't do it. Because if you think about it, he never intentionally put Gohan in a dangerous battlefield until now.

i kinda always felt this also. because if cell was still tired after gokus fight with him. he would have to try more against gohan since gohans power was already more powerful than goku even in ssj1. this would make cell not just let gohan power up if he was already pushed to the ropes.
Goku's Saiyan nature took over, and he was cocky about Gohan's power. He wanted Cell to lose to Gohan while at full power in the same way he let Frieza power up to 100% on Namek.
I think powered up ssj Gohan would explode non senzu bean cell like he did the cell jr's with one punch. Hell we see how much damage 2 punches ssj2 Gohan does to a maxed out Cell coming up
Can't wait to see her reaction when Gohan takes the sinzu beans from cell they be in Gohan hands before cell knew they were gone and see him take out the cell Jr's in 1 blow when the z fighters were having trouble destroying them

So freakin' good, Gohan so badass. I don't know how much difference between Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 but it's got to be a huge difference. He handled the Cell Jr's with ease when his father, Vegeta and Trunks had trouble. The fun has just begun.

Oozaru = x10 Base.
Super Saiyajin = x50 Base.
Super Saiyajin Grade 2 = x75 Base. (1.5x SSJ)
Super Saiyajin Grade 3 = x100 Base. (x2 SSJ, Speed Reduction)
Super Saiyajin 2 = x100 Base. (x2 SSJ)
Super Saiyajin 3 = x400 Base. (x4 SSJ2)
Note that these are the only confirmed multipliers we have. Anything beyond SSJ3 we don't have info on yet.
Fun Fact: TOEI Animation accidentally added an extra Cell Jr. in this episode. Gohan actually kills 8 of them, but there are supposed to only be 7.

I know dbz had a lot of jokes and stuff, but this episode and these final episodes in the cell saga as a whole could have done without jokes, comedy and shots of chichi and her dad making jokes. Takes you right out of the action and seriousness of it all.
What people don’t seem to understand is that this episode is juxtaposing Gohan and Chi Chi for a reason.
His rage and impossible inner strength comes from Chi Chi, this is why Trunks doesn’t have the same ability(despite Bulma being tough in her own right).
I think that Gohan had multiplied his power with this transformation by like 7 times.
Super Saiyan 2 is 2 times stronger than Super Saiyan, or 100 times normal strength

Super Saiyan 2 is *x2* the the power of Super Saiyan 1. (Basically 100x base)
I know a lot of people seem to love the transformation last episode. Me personally I prefer *THIS* episode's rendition of it. It's more theatrical and it's a lot more stylish and it has a lot more heart to it. Last episode was too "instantaneous" for my taste.

Last but certainly not least, thirdly..... That multiplier is nothing to mess with. Just how powerful do you think Perfect Cell is? 🤨😏
And when Super Perfect Cell came back later he had a zenkai boost because (spoiler alert) he blew himself up and regenerated, so of course he's going to be a lot more powerful than before. And on top of that during that situation Gohan's power was severely drained and one of his arms was useless. It was a situational equalizer in accordance to the writer. They had to weaken Gohan and give Cell a buff to give him a upper hand.... (No pun intended)
Any other situation Gohan would have destroyed him.

The DBZA version was also fire. In all the years it took for them to reach this point they had moved away from just meme jokes and into actual writing. And the custom music they commissioned for the transformation was amazing.
To this day, SSJ2 form is still the most reliable form

The difference between 1ssj and 2ssj is the hair is more spiked and a little longer and there control over there emotions more erratic, or less controlled. also out of all the transformations Gohans ssj2 transformation hit me the hardest. The buildup is genius. It will always be my fav scene in all anime.
Emotion is unaffected by SSJ2.

It perfectly matches Gohan's rage when he sees something and feels powerless... until his hidden power awakens and loses control. Super Saiyan 2 is very different in that it actually mentally and emotionally corrupts a fighter. Gohan isn't a fighter by nature, and doesn't even enjoy sparring for fun or training with his Dad. Super Saiyan 2 is so different that Gohan starts to enjoy hurting Cell and making him suffer as much as he can, something that surprises and scares even Piccolo. Piccolo had never seen Gohan be intentionally ruthless or gleefully sadistic until Gohan turned Super Saiyan 2. .
Imagine having to wait a whole week for each episode. It'll be like 10 years before you finish watching all of DB DBZ DBGT DBS
The guidebooks list SSJ2 as a 2 times multiplier of SSJ1.
But from watching it in action in the anime, it looks more like a 3 times boost. Especially when Gohan atomizes the Cell Jrs.
This is true, because you have to consider Gohan's anger (and so, his "hidden power") on top of that which means he's currently far above the 2x multiplier

2x is absolutely false. Don't forget the insane powerup cell does in the next episode. SS2 is over 10x more powerful than full power SS1. So called 'official' sources can go and suck eggs. If you actually watch the anime it becomes crystal clear SS2 is much stronger.

So as far as scaling goes- Gohan at least has a higher multiplier than Grade 2 to Grade 3.
Cell currently isn't at his full potential yet, but before he gets an upgrade Gohan should easily be over x20 stronger than Cell pre-explosion while Gohan is suppressed.
We know that Cell's power boost was compared to the increase Gohan got in Super Saiyan 2, you can take that as literally as you want- but all that does is make Gohan even stronger.
Let's give Cell a 4x multiplier, so dividing we know that Gohan *while supressed* is at least 5x stronger than Cell Super Perfect Form.
Now all that scaling has been lowballs on purpose believe it or not- but now we get into the crazy stuff.
If SSJ2 Gohan WHILE SUPRESSED is 20x stronger than Perfect Cell and 5x stronger than Super Perfect Cell, then how much stronger than a no holds bard- all out Gohan- be?
Well other scalers in the community have agreed that when Gohan fires his father-son Kamehameha- he literally CAN'T be at his full strength because he was injured while saving Vegeta.
Why? Well because we have gotten confirmation that when your life force is low it directly effects how much power you have, as stated by not only the series but the guide books.
Since he only had an arm destroyed- let's low ball him again.
Let's say that Gohan only used 75% of Gohan power- though a lot of scalers argue he only used 50%, and remember- this power would be even more insane if he had ever bothered training with it.
So let's round up and say SSJ2 Gohan not suppressed is at least 8x stronger than Super Perfect Cell.
But wait- another hidden factor.
We know that Gohan was holding back until the end of the arc when he used all his power (that he could use while injured) to destroy cell.
Which means that if you want to say that Gohan was holding back until the end- just say that he was 2x stronger (multiplied by both his suppressed form and full power) than his previous showings- which would mean Gohan in our very much low balled estimate is at least 40x stronger than Cell Pre-explosion and AT LEAST 10x stronger than Super Perfect Cell (but it could be even higher mind you!).
Pretty insane scaling when you realize both get at the east a x2-x3 multiplier to their Kamehameha's!!!

I don't think Gohan was surpressed, and I don't think he was any more than 1.5x to 2x stronger than super perfect cell, but you're right that he was close to 20x stronger than the original perfect cell.

Super Saiyan 2 is simply twice the power of a Regular Super Saiyan, or you could word it that its 100x Base form Powerlevel. So Gohan's power right now is somewhere around twice that of Goku's full SSJ powerlevel.
This series is such an enjoyment can't wait y'all to watch super also hopefully we get a new season in 2023

The initial power up explosion was Gohan releasing his hidden energy. The second transformation was then properly ascending to SSJ2
Nah the first moment was a shortened version, he was ssj2 at the end of ep184. Beginning of 185 is the actual extended transformation
@@nickstanton6021 Nah, the first transformation was unlocking the hidden explosive power that he did against Raditz, Nappa, Frieza etc. This is why you see him exploding with rage in the next episode first, before pushing even further to a proper ssj2. It confused everyone watching first time, but it is two seperate level ups basically.
@@Vincent.Wilson Mann I've been watch subbed n raw dbz since mid 90s. The transformation with spirit v spirit is ssj2 completed. Check the hair, lightning, etc

The first couple minutes of this episode is all filler. The animators have him back as a SSJ and he goes through a whole new, longer transformation.
Both are cool, but they should have just stuck with one.
@@deckzone3000 They are separate transformations, Cell even reacts to the first one at the start of this episode as he is powering up like mad. However, the second scene is when he actually ascends to the next level alongside his hidden power as is why Cell could hardly keep up with him. The Manga just had the one transformation, but the Anime decided to add the SSJ2 part separately. Prob for filler as you say, but just adds more logic as to why Cell can’t even hurt him.
This brought back all the memories and emotions of the first time I saw this. Great video🙏

I went from watching the last episode seeing Gohan rage after 16s death speech to watching the new DBS movie with Beast Gohan or w/e lol it was freaking awesome!!!!!!!! Glad I could time watching them so perfectly together!! I'm not sure anything can beat Gohan when he rages?! It's like his potential MAXED which was said to be stronger than Goku and Vegeta? Speaking of which I liked the scene after the end credits of the new movie also!! lol anyway thanks for another vid!!! :) hope everyone is doing well!!
In the original DragonBall before Goku met ChiChi on his way to Fire Mountain with Oolong and Bulma, The Ox King was feared by all and was a very violent person before Goku came along and the Turtle Hermit decided to put him in his place for terrorizing people over his treasure.
this brings back so many old and good memories I always get so emotional watching these episodes of dragon ball z kai still to this day I get really emotional watching these old dragon ball episode good to see i'm not the only one that get really emotional watching these episodes.

I’m rewatching One Piece for the 22nd time rn😅 I’m on the Jaya/Skypia arc currently. If y’all have never watched an episode of One Piece, please do! It’s such an amazing story, with the absolute best characters of any manga/anime. They’re still releasing new episodes, once every Sunday, and there are about 1,050 episodes out already. I know… it sounds long, but once you watch the first episode, you’re hooked! Dragon Ball was my first anime, and it’ll always be one of my favorites, but when it comes to storytelling and character development, One Piece is by far more entertaining for mature anime fans.
Man, when I was younger 2 decades ago or something and saw this for the first time, I think I replayed this episode 10 times.
Gohan became so strong he killed 8 of 7 cell juniors.
