Hello. young pigeons should be left outside when they are smaller, when they do not have so much strength in their wings, so that they cannot fly so far from the first exit. And you didn't have to force them out, you had to open the ones at the entrance and let them out on their own when they wanted to. Consider this in the future. Succes.

Lift the Bob wires for the first few times your young birds are out they will trap easier to an open entrance.

Hi , have you thought about putting up a 2ft high lath front across the front of your loft roof, this helps the birds to land on the landing board instead of the roof of the loft, also will differentiate the loft from your other buildings as they all look pretty similar to me and I’m not a pigeon, will also stop hawks coming in from all sides taking them off the roof of the loft, because if that happens they will never land on the loft roof first time ever again, last thing you want on race days is for them to spend 2 or more minutes sitting on other buildings could cost you a race, just a thought, all the best.

Is 3 months old pigeons too late to let them out ? Is it better at 2 months old ? Because mines lost some feathers when they were 2 months old so they need another month to make their feathers regrow before leting them out .

Damn, i hate what they do to the birds. Mine got pushed way way high the other day and stayed up for ages. Younger birds just dropped from exhaustion and fear in the end i think. Luckily i found my young Yellow bird only been out a few times, hiding on the ground. He refused to fly so i walked him in, very glad to get him and his Dad back. Yellow gifted Cock bird paired with white/black Hen and gave a lovely Yellow baby (i noticed your Yellow bird from a short vid not long ago i think, i now have the two. Love them). Hawk did grab and kill one of our birds, then left it untouched on the Neighbours roof. It’s hard yes, but mate if we live in areas like us and don’t want to fly pigeons because of hawks etc, they would never get a chance to fly. My theory is get them out there early and let them learn how to deal with it, its a vital skill and possibly makes for a stronger Loft. But that’s another topic perhaps. Get em up there in amongst mate, has to happen. I think there is a learning benefit from flying younger birds with older experienced ones, not always convenient for us but just my thoughts. I also like to let my young birds learn to use the trap from old birds/parents as soon as they start to fly. They can fly with the others when ever there ready, till then they stick by the Loft. Just my way is all, Sometimes it hurts. I’m glad the birds ok Mr Maney.
