    The idea is to sandwich multiple layers together and create an air pocket which will help (theoretically) increase the R-Value.
    Towards the end of the video I tried to do a few tests myself to see if they actually did anything. I parked in a parking garage out of the sun and wind to get a stable test environment. Then I would heat my car up to 70F and time how long it would take to drop down to 60F with and without the inserts.
    Some days the inserts made a difference while other days they didn't do much at all.
    At the end of the day at least they will block out some light.

    I think most people would be interested in the level of light-blocking and stealthiness, more than the temperature inside the car after putting the shades up. Wish you had done a light blocking test & walk-around to show if any light escapes at night.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Hi Photogher. That is a great idea that I can do for a CZcams short. Here is a quick walk around from the outside with just the dome light on.
      czcams.com/video/lyzbPyz8vaw/video.htmlsi=4al-uwgSHYB4uIJm&t=917
      When I make the walk around video, I'll use a light source that can switch from 25,50 & 75 lumens. This way we can see how much light escapes with different lighting configurations that people may use.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Jay, Yes it is a great idea. That's something I recently got to test out in -5F or -22.5C.
      czcams.com/video/pUzSxXkVFTU/video.html
      -I don't think it's needed until you hit about 20F. I tested it out in the 20s and It was to warm.
      -Some people may say use another blanket or a better sleeping bag, that usually requires more storage
      -While buying a portable power bank make sure you are able to service the battery and access the fuse panel yourself without needing to send it in for simple service issues.
      -While buying a 12v blanket be aware that most of them come equipped with some type of automatic shut off timer, I'm sure you'd like one where the blanket would stay on all night.
      -Lastly, not all but most of the cheaper 12v blankets say "Do not lay on" I see a lot of comments in other heated blanket videos telling the youtuber to lay on the blanket because heat rises. This is what a heated mattress pad is for. They are designed differently

    Hi! I’m enjoying your videos. :)
    In this video how did you make the tab pulls? I couldn’t make that out. And, what is the dimension of your fold up bed? Twin size?

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Před 2 lety +4

      Hi Kristina,
      The pull tabs are roughly 3/4" by 8" strips of the same material folded in half and then glued underneath one of the larger pieces of fabric covering the insert.
      My fold up bed is a rock climbing or bouldering crash pad. There are cheaper options out there but I already had this lying around and it was a perfect FIT.
      Open size: Open size: 42" x 60" x 4" (106.6 cm x 152.4 cm x 10 cm)
      Folded size: 42" x 22" x 13" (106.6 cm x 55.8 cm x 33 cm)

      I don't have a video on it yet but I'm using two small fans, one over each rear exhauster vent.
      One pulls fresh air in while the other blows the humid air out of the car. No need to roll down the windows at all. I also picked up a 12volt cooler. I'll freeze a water bottle and then place it in fronnt of the intake fan for a cool breeze. The melting ice won't put off any humidity like swamp cooler would because it's all contained in the bottle.

      I used Gorilla Glue. It's been holding up, but the dry time made it difficult to work with.
      The video I copied my design from used a hot glue gun to hold everything together. I didn't think that would hold up to well but apparently they used Gorilla Glue hot glue sticks to get the job done.

      @@HondaFit4Adventure I’m thinking about buying a set of those side window shades from blinds4cars pre-made to fit my car model and then Adhering some blackout fabric to the shades. The only problem I can foresee there is they don’t seem to make blackout fabric in black for some reason, 1 only find it in tan.

    • @HondaFit4Adventure
      @HondaFit4Adventure  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Idham, Your car has several air vents located through out the car. These are meant to equalize the air pressure in the cabin and prevent your windows from exploding while driving. Crazy right! Anyway these vents mean your car is not 100% sealed and you can breathe with ease. You can see the Honda Fit rear vents in this video czcams.com/video/pHaX2q1mlso/video.html You just have to watch the humidity levels on the inside of the car.
