    Why didn't just install a Honda roof rack and then install your stuff to the rack without destroying your roof by drilling holes?

      OMG, I cringed when i saw that.Good luck with the rain and rust in those huge holes. Regardless of the silicone. Also lowered the value of the car drastically. Poor girl

    Your solar panel is the perfect size and shape for your FIT!
    May I suggest using 3/4" wooden planks to build your bedframe. These are cheaper and much lighter.
    If you decide to stick with the 2x10's or 2x12's, you can drill them holes in them reducing the weight of the bed frame by at least 30%

    The way he just drilled through the roof of the car like that proves how unprofessional this guy is, he basically attached that entire roof setup to the weakest and thinnest part of the roof. I wouldn’t want this guy touching anything I own.

    • @gbob1980
      @gbob1980 Před rokem +1

      He should have drill on the frame of the roof, its more rigid and way stronger.

      yeah I like the idea of this build other than the heavy ass bed and the roof rack design. should've just used an off the shelf rack like the dude with the gen3 fit vanlife build. otherwise if he just used a light material for his frame and cleaned it up a bit this would be sick. Still isn't bad.

    For the 'background' music. Best to fade out to lower volume, when talking.
    Be good to see a productionized version. Especially one that doesn't involve screwing into the roof.😊

    Nice editing, really well done video. I like how you went a little higher with the bed platform to give yourself just that much more storage. I'm actually about to built a rooftop solar shower on one side just like you, you did a great job on that custom roof rack, let me know how you like it! Want to do an awning on the other side though, just to extend the 'house' a little. Great stuff keep it coming!!

    Just wondering how you cook? Is it away from the car? I saw another Fit video where the guy had a sliding piece of wood, under the bed, that he could pull out to cook on.

    If you need to get to your spare tire, do you have to remove the frame (and presumably your solar setup inside the trunk area) first?

    • @legacyroofingutah9766
      @legacyroofingutah9766  Před 2 lety +1

      about 7 gallons with the 4 in pipe, any more and it will be too heavy, 7 gallons is about the max weight you want to put up there on the roof. Enough for a quick shower for 1 person or plenty for daily dishwashing and basic water needs.
