Can’t wait until they come back to the US! I fell in love with Delain and Charlotte and I’m sad things changed, however, I’m giving the new lineup a chance. They sound amazing!
This new incarnation of Delain is surprisingly awesome. Diana's killing it and I love the energy, personality and vocals from Ronald on guitar.
Hats off to Paolo Ribaldini, he sounded pretty good in Marco's absence.
I feel so happy to see Delain has survived and is going strong again! It is always nice to have some good news! The new singer has lots of potential and I love that some of the old gang came back.

I have seen them 4 times. Lead singer is fantastic and sounds like Charlotte so will look forward to see again in California. It's wonderful they stayed together after so many changes .
If you close your eyes during Suckerpunch you may be confused whose voice is, Diana or Charlotte's? hahaha
Diana and Charlotte have totally different voices. Diana her voice is much more open. Charlotte het voice is much thinner, especially in the higher regions.

Eu tbm achei ela incrível, até pq substituir a Charlotte no Delain não é um tarefa fácil, mas ela está muito bem.
Eu assisti o Delain abrindo para o Nightwish na turnê Decades, foi incrível, para mim foi um show mais energético que o Nightwish, Diana e os novos integrantes são incríveis, a banda está mais forte com essa formação,, ela mandou muito bem nas músicas antigas e as do novo álbum estão incríveis!
When I saw all the Diana comments I thought for a minute that they had got Dianne van Giersbergen as the new vocalist (which would have made sense as she's Dutch, and been interesting, as she is really good). But no. Diana Leah does seem really good too (and more similar in style to Charlotte) so that's cool. Great to see that Delain are still going after the (2nd) refresh - they are a great band.
Just like Floor and Troy brought new and unique, much needed energy to Nightwish, I feel like Diana (and others) are doing the same with Delain. This current line-up seems jacked up and it makes me so happy!. An absolute *perfect* match; well done on finding the right fit!
I have to admit Diana definitely makes the old songs go out in her own style Bravo!!The New stuff is is going in a different level and it’s amazing!

@@RammmFan I would disagree about Xandria: Although this band has been on my radar from time to time throughout their career, I didn't like any of their songs except "Save My Life". But I like each of their new singles. They sound like a completely different band now - and to my taste, better than the old Xandria.

Но у тебя могло сложиться такое впечатление, потому что она довольно точно следует изначальным вокальным партиям и я не вижу в этом ничего плохого, наоборот это замечательно. Конечно есть много случаев, когда новые певицы переделывают вокальные партии предыдущих под себя (Nightwish - яркий пример). Но мне кажется что если речь не идёт об уникальных талантах вроде Флор Янсен, то конечно лучше всего старые песни исполнять аутентично. Это так же. как если бы в группу известную своими гитарными партиями взяли нового гитариста - конечно все зрители хотели бы чтобы он старые песни исполнял так как они были записаны и особенно чтобы соло совпадали нота в ноту. Тут та же история.

Thanks for uploading for those of us unable to make the trip to Zwolle. They've nailed the live sound. Diana's vocals are excellent, and I thought Paolo did a great job stepping in for the irreplaceable Marko. I'm looking forward to seeing them next year in London.
Yess all very true! I feel like the vocalist has a lot of potential to grow even more. And who knows, perhaps Marko will surprise them with a visit again sometime in the future!

As a fan of Delain since the "Lucidity" days, I can tell you: Diana is amazing. She's more in tune than Charlotte. Another observation: musically the band is better as a whole. In addition, a kind of return to the roots is perceived. Martijn made the right choices. The Delain I always loved is back!🤩
Plus, Diana is a little HOTTIE...

Not getting into a debate about the reasons for the breakup, and Diana is perfectly fine. This version of the band just sounds thin, the guitar leads seem to be a stretch. And are they still sampling Charlotte background vocals or did Diana re-record them ?
The quality of the video audio is rather thin. But the band sounds great!
It's the sound quality of this particular video, on other videos from the same concert the band definitely doesn't sound "thin". And of course they re-recorded all the backing tracks, otherwise they would have had to ask Charlotte for permission to use them and pay her extra money.
This version uses the exact same material as the old version because it's all owned by the company Delain. Ronald and Ludo are only playing on a different brand then Otto and Timo. And yes... All backgrounds vocals are re-recorded by Diana.

I have to admit... I don't know how I feel about them playing We Are the Others now. That feels like a very, very personal Charlotte song IMO. Diana sang it fantastically but I really hope she took the time to learn the meaning of it.
I wouldn't call this song "personal", it's more of a social theme song. A kind of anthem, calling for all who feel like outsiders to unite. I don't see any reason why you feel like it's wrong for Diana to perform this song. Not to mention that there are many covers of this song from other people on CZcams.
Except the lyrics, Martijn wrote this entire song including melody lines. This song is more than only (very important) lyrics. So he has every right to play this song live

Charlotte was always the primary lyricist for the band.

In fact, you're probably right: She left Delain because she didn't want to work with a completely new line-up of musicians, but if she had known that Sander and Ronald would call Martijn and ask to return to the band, then maybe she wouldn't have been so radical in her decision.

Yes she did...herself. And now something good returned. And the soul of the band is the songwriter of the music. And that soul wasn't Charlotte. You can hear that when you listen to her new music which has nothing to do with the style of Delain's music

@@luciusblackwood2640 It was impossible to fire her , because Martijn and Charlotte were in the Delain company together. She cried because despite of all efforts from all sides it didn't work out. And so did Martijn btw. There are always more sides to a story, and if one of them was such a jerk it wouldn't be possible to work together for almost 15 years. Martijn was (and is) the engine (and music sound) of Delain, so it makes sense he continues. Diana will develop her own sound just like Charlotte did. I wish everyone including Charlotte the very best!
@@jaspergroen5376 That is incorrect. She explained the whole thing. She was totally fired. That was her life's work and it was stolen from her. I hope she starts a band called Charlotte's Delain. Those are as much her songs as anyone else and she should continue to sing them.

In that situation, the most important thing is that at least they didn't lose anything.
And no one fired Charlotte. It was the former musicians who tried to overthrow the founder of Delain and "hijack" the band, and when it didn't work out, they left and Charlotte left with them. Now they work in her live band.

Тебе следует проявить больше уважения к человеку, который снял целиком весь концерт Delain в новом составе и выложил в CZcams. Меня тошнит от таких людей как ты, которые на халяву получают возможность хоть как-то увидеть это выступление и при этом ещё обсирают автора видео, что это не профессиональное видео с десятка камер. Не нравится - ну жди ещё несколько лет пока группа выпустит следующий официальный концертник.

I agree, but I think it's worth noting that that song is probably Charlotte's magnum opus as far as Delain goes. I think it'd be very difficult for anyone who isn't extremely accomplished to sing it perfectly.

This is a difficult song to sing, it is impossible for any singer to replicate the studio version because of the overlapping lyric structure.
But, Charlotte's pitch and chest / headvoice control is better.

@@patrickvangelder8088 Ive seen them live multiple times. Both this actual show and also in the past with Charlotte. Diana is simply technically more skilled. Better vibrato, no squeezed voice. Not nasal sound either. Btw Check out Charlotte’s first years in Delain and then Diana right now. Diana is lightyears ahead.

Yes the quality wasn't the best but let's agree that it's a window showing what the new Delain can do. I was impressed. I am also grateful that TakkenHerrie Live Music took the time to share this.
I can't avoid to feel it like a band making Delain's covers. Sorry.
The person who is the main songwriter, is on stage. And for him it's impossible to cover his own songs,.Also the original drummer and guitar player are back. So in that case those people are covering a lot of their own stuff. To me this is totally Delain.

It also happened with Nightwith with Anette Olzon, and now again it doesn't sound like Nightwish after Marko leaving the band.

@@rorkag You have the right to your own opinion of course. I simply don't agree with it, and I also think it's a rather insulting one for the people on stage. Bands always go trough changes. It's a fact of life. Yes, with Delain it happened at the same time, but the result is exactly the same as with other bands like Nightwish. To me I think Nightwish is still very much Nightwish. I saw them live in November. Still had the Nightwish vibe to me (and I think almost 17000 other people agreed with me that night). A band is more than only the vocalist. (btw I also missed someone like Marko. But that doesn't mean it's a cover band immediately. That's a really extreme statement to make).

The new vocalist is actually much better live than the previous vocalist. I was at this show, and I was at previous Delain shows with Charlotte. I like Diana's voice way better!

Diana can definitely sing. However, she needs to work on the whole "commanding the audience and owning the stage" thing and also on the "stage presence" thing. It might not be fair to compare her to Charlotte in those respects because Charlotte had few equals but Diana needs to raise her game. The first, easiest thing she can do to make this happen would be to tell the other members of the band to shut the (*@# up when she's in front of an audience. A band can have only *ONE* front-person. I don't care if it's Martijn or anyone else; Diana needs to be the queen of the stage; otherwise it looks like a disorganized high school band playing their first gig. The new songs are good. Delain needs a new guitarist who has the same stage presence as Ludovico Cioffi.

By the way. Charlotte unequaled.... Did you ever see her preform the first 5 years in Delain? I did. Diana is already doing 10x better, than Charlotte did in those years, and she just started. This was only her 2nd show. Ronald (the guitar player) has a phenomenal stage presents. Fans who attended the show loved him. To say it's impossible to have more than 1 front person at the same time is simply incorrect. Nightwish is a very good example of that. In short.... Nope. It's a matter of time, and they will completely nail it.
@@martijnjanssen4419 You're comparing Charlotte when she was 16-21 to Diana now, who's just over 30. I saw videos of festival gigs Delain did in the "Lucidity" days and she was not the least bit awkward; but that's a side issue because the overwheling majority of Delain fans (myself included) started seeing them play live sometime after "We Are The others" and by then Charlotte matured into the super-performer whom she is now, and to whom it is most relevant to compare Diana. I will admit that Ronald is on a "stage" in this video and that he is also definitely "present." However, what I saw in this video was not "stage presence." It was some random guy standing awkwardly.
As for my main point of contention, Nightwish is a bad comparison to make because the band has (really, had, since Markko is gone now) more than one singer. Amaranthe too has three singers so we don't mind so much when someone other than Elize speaks. That's the thing: these bands have multiple singers. Delain doesn't. Even look at Lacuna Coil: two singers, but Andrea is intelligent enough to know that he has a *LOT* less personality than Cristina Scabbia so he keeps his mouth between songs. There are also some bands where the non-singers do speak between songs but that's part of a scripted act that's part of the show. Think of Steel Panther. Scott Ian of Anthrax has his shtick in the "*WAR DANCE*" segment of "Indians" but he otherwise shuts up and plays guitar.
But look at every other band with a single vocalist and you will see they always work best when the other band members do not talk. Ben Weinman of The Dillinger Escape Plan was clearly the brains of the band but he still let Greg Pucciato do all the talking because he knew his job was playing guitar. The best-known member of Periphery is guitarist Misha Mansour, but he never speaks to the audience; he lets Spencer Sotelo do that and the audience "loves that shit." Lars Ulrich of Metallica clearly has a bigger ego than James Hetfield and he's a bit more intelligent and articulate; but he says nothing until the audience starts to leave the venue because he knows his place is behind the drum kit. Even Robert Trujillo doesn't speak between songs when Metallica plays in Spanish-speaking countries; he simply says "thank you all for coming, good night!" in Spanish at the end of the set. Nobody would dare speak over Devin Townsend nor Henry Rollins (to be fair, Henry only does solo spoken word performances now). Phil Anselmo (when he can keep his white supremacist beliefs quiet and stay sober) absolutely owns the stage; the Abbott brothers were very shy and they let him keep the spotlight to himself, becuse that's what worked. Nobody would dare speak over Charlotte for _)*(@# sakes!
Look at bands who deviated from this.
The Agonist instantly improved as soon as Vicky Psarakis learned to own the stage five years ago and Chris Kells stopped introducing songs; even here in Montreal where Vicky's inability to speak French is acutely noticed by the audience, she runs the show and the show is better for it. One of the worst sets I ever saw live was Sacred Reich in 1993, opening for Pantera. One of the many reasons for this was that Wiley Arnett was so buzzed on cocaine that he couldn't shut up and Phil Rind was in the throes of an asthma attack that prevented him from speaking (and this is a band that usually plays killer live sets). And one of the reasons many fans are glad Mike Portnoy is no longer in Dream Theater is because he's no longer there to talk over James Labrie between songs and hog the spotlight; and most of the fans are only there to drool over John Petrucci (and maybe Jordan Rudess) but even if they think Petrucci is more interesting or a better musician, they still prefer to hear James Labrie speaking between songs and *never* hearing the others, as it should be.
Delain needs to realize itself as one band with one singer at the forefront, with her ruling the stage. Martijn even if he could sing, simply doesn't have the personality for that and he needs to stay behind his Korg.

Martijn has been a musician for over 25 years, in two top bands in the genre. I am pretty sure he knows better than you how things work. You come across as a know it all/know it better, and you are extremely rude on top.
You also completely ignoring the fact that Charlotte already was Delain's singer for over 7 years when We Are The Others came out. Age is not a factor here at all. It's experience. And Diana is just starting, and already beating Charlotte at her own game in comparison to her first club show.
It will simply a matter of time when Diana will be at the required level as a performer, and she already beats Charlotte live when it comes to singing if you like it or not. As said. I was there. Both in the early years, and at this particular show.
Last but not least. Martijn doesn't come across wanting to be a frontman at all. He sings backing vocals, and only at one song. This is a special home show, and not a normal situation, where it makes total sense he takes the mic for a moment.
His brother did the same thing in Within Temptation at some moments. Also no problem whatsoever, and the crowd loves it.
You're just searching for your chance to shoot them down with lame reasons, because you don't like it. But It won't stop them. On the contrary. They will only grow more. They are already having succes with this line up. Just deal with it dude.
@@martijnjanssen4419 dude, you're coming across as a credulous fanboy who's waaaaaaaaay too invested in this to see the obvious. I don't hate this band. Hell, I don't even think the recent "everybody quit on the same day" incident was even all that tragic. I think the music Delain recorded has been better than everything Chatrlotte did as a solo artist. But I watched this video and I saw a lot of unprofessional things being done that way less famous bands would never do; and a singer who looked like she was lost onstage. If you're the type of person who'd walk up to them after this performance and say it was the most brilliant thing you've ever seen and that they never need to do anything different, then you're not a fan; or not a very good one.
(And by the way, "top band?" Yes, Within Temptation counts. But Delain, no.)
