A fifteen year-old boy named Guy, accidentally becomes a superhero but the ring that gives him his superpowers was only meant to be worn by a woman. And now the ring is stuck on Guy's finger. So, whenever danger is near, the ring changes Guy into Shezow whether he likes it or not. And the only way for him to change back into his normal boy clothes is to eliminate the danger, so he has to be a "unique" superhero. From: IMDb

It's a shame they didn't keep the "Best friend being in love with the Heroine without knowing it's really his best friend"-thing going in the show. That could've lead to a lot of comedic moments. Though the gag could probably only last for at least 5 episodes then they would have to spill the beans, otherwise it would get boring.
Kinda over use on the superheroes with hidden identities, I think the useless good bro is better

The dialogue in this pilot is a lot better than the finalized version - then again, considering that Guy and Kelly are a lot older, I guess it's targeted to a more older demographic as well.
I actually like this one better. The art style was a bit weird at first, but only because it's such a huge change from the finished product - it actually grew on me after a while. Besides that, this version is definitely a lot funnier. They really should've kept the pilot's writers, if nothing else - the constant She-puns on the show get annoying very quickly; this version has way more visual humor (that's actually well done). I also really liked the idea of Guy changing into She-Zow randomly, and the whole "best friend in love" bit is GOLD.
I will say this in defense of the current show - I am NOT sorry in the least that they changed She-Zow's outfit. Ouch....

Yeah, the writing and dialogue here feel a lot more natural and funnier than the original, I found myself preferring this version a lot more

The most significant change for the actual series is the elimination of his friend being attracted to Shezow while not knowing her/his identity, which surely would've made the family-values crowd way more uncomfortable than the final product. In fact, I don't believe anyone being attracted to anyone else has come up yet in any ep shown on the HUB.
Also, "I'm a DUDE again!" implies a physical gender change, though nothing definite.
Makes me appreciate the careful improvements.
I already like the writing more, however i think the designs in the final vers are way better

Oh my god, it's really more cute like that. I prefer the turn of events of this version (the dude who loves Shezow is a great idea) but Shezow with black hair and different outfit is better.

Yeah, as weird as the 2013 cartoon looks (two of the main characters are gray, for Pete's sake), the pilot looks like the Total Drama series redrawn by a cubist and then redrawn by a preteen fangirl. I will say that the old lair design looks pretty good, and I can definitely appreciate the characters being more restrained in their actions and reactions... but man am I glad they dropped the 'best friend with a crush' thing. That would have just been awkward to see every episode... seriously.

I disagree, and yet I agree. Personally, the art, design and animation of the new version is far superior. However, the writing and acting of the original short are much better than the new one. Yes, I'm aware some parts of it are exactly the same. However, the fewer amounts of She-puns are welcome, and Guy's friend being romantically interested in Shezow as opposed to being an indecisive and fairly useless sidekick is a much better plot point.

I enjoy this version more than the edited version, I wish they never changed the original, and I wish this show was never cancelled.

I don't know what the "SheZam" video is, but Obie mentioned something about how he came to create SheZow (you've probably heard this, but most people reading this haven't)- as a kid, one of his favorite Saturday morning shows in the '70s was Filmation's "SHAZAM!". And one day, he thought, "What if Billy Batson said 'SHEzam'? Would he become a different superhero, in a different outfit?". And that was the genesis of 'SheZow"....
I actually like this version much better than the new! It's more cute, and I like the art style.

Wade "refined" the origin story for the first episode of the weekly series, with slight changes in design and script (i.e. at 1:34- in the final version, Guy mocks Aunt Agnes by reciting, "My name is SheZow/My fists go pow-pow!/I'm here to save the world/You GO, girl!"...while BECOMING "her". When he realizes he's "stuck" being SheZow, he lets out a "sonic scream" that reveals the location of the "She-Lair"...}

The "lip screen" at 2:32 became part of a more elaborate all-knowing computer, represented by "Sheila", a pair of pink lips {with an attitude} on screen. And, unlike Jose [who never made it to the series], best friend Maz quickly figured out WHO SheZow was, and became Guy's ally in fighting crime (usually dressing up in silly "sidekick" costumes that virtually NEVER work out).
Ok... I recognize the voices of Kelly and Guy. Guy,is the voice of Jackson from Hannah Montanan and Kelly is the voice of Lily from Hannah Montana. But the voice of Jose (2013,Maz) I sorta recognize... Idk...
The person who does the voice of Kelly (2012) does the voice of Barbie (no wonder in the movies Barbie sounds like Kelly

I actually kind of wish they kept the "friend in love" aspect deal, it added to the comedy of the entire ordeal. The current SheZow just feels... flavorless. It doesn't have the wit and interaction this pilot has. That's really weird, given the finished product is usually much better than the pilot, when really SheZow now feels like nothing more than a pardody that runs only on being a parody, nothing more.

I became a fan as soon as I saw the first "official" episode. I first "discovered" SheZow in a New York DAILY NEWS article a few days before the "Hub" premiere. Be that as it may, I'm intrigued that you knew Wayne Harris well enough to be "involved" in the original "pilot". After seeing it, I can see WHY the Disney Channel passed on a weekly series- if you thought there were major objections about the current "SheZow", you would have heard an AVALANCHE of protest, had this version sold...

No no; I didn't say it was a FUNNY plot point. I said it was a BETTER plot point. There's not really anywhere to go with Maz's one-dimensional character. The romantic attraction, on the other hand, can open up plenty of new stories and character growth for both Guy and Jose, as the romantic attraction between a straight dude and the feminine alter-ego of his straight friend is rife with conflict. And good stories are all about conflict.
Huh, I'm not sure, but I think this version has SheZow speaking with a head voice of sorts, whereas in the show, he speaks in falsetto. The pilot seems to indicate a slightly more mature undertone. I think the newer style is cuter, but I can't say I dislike this animation, because it was done really well, and it's not bad,.

They aired this pilot on shorty mc short shorts, and from my understanding didn't get any backlash. However the actual TV series that was the main release version of the show, got plenty of backlash from conservatives.

There's a BIG difference in the original design seen here (by Wayne Harris and Andy Underwood), and the one in the series (by Kyla May, Claire Cheok and Paul Tippett).

he's so insanely gender ohmegee i love this show, i feel like it had so much wasted potential. i like this art style more, it looks so unique, you don't really get that a lot now unfortunately because indie cartoons get watered down when they get green lit by cartoon network or whatever it may be. i do think i prefer the actual shezow design in the official show more, maybe like a mix of the two would've been ideal. was jose even in the show? i don't remember. it would've been cute if there was a romance between the two, where they both think they're straight but end up falling for each other by accident and then have to go through a journey of accepting that new found part of themselves. the jokes in this show can be really annoying, like it's so overly stereotypical, even though you would think that's what they're trying to challenge, but most of the time we're just meant to go "haha boy is feminine so funny", that's what i mean by wasted potential. it's a great premise but it falls flat in a lot of ways. imo

Does this feel... Sped up to anyone else? Like i know the pacing has to be faster than the final product cause its a short, but the dialogue itself sounds like its on x2. Idk it just sounds off to me and its distracting.
Also i just cannot get behind this animation. the designs are ok, i especially like the tiara, i always thought Shezow would look more complete with a little wonder woman esque tiara. But the way theyre animated just feels, again, *off.* They look too... Wiggley? Like they have no bones and that doesnt work with this style imo.
But i do love that one shot of guy shielding jose with his cape, that was so adorable. Kinda wish they kept the subplot of Guy's best friend crushing on shezow for at least the first 2 or 3 episodes. instead of the rushed, anticlimactic reveal we got at the last minute of the very first episode.

This is the "embryonic" version of what took Obie Scott Wade about five years to "sell" as a weekly series....even Craig McCracken's "POWERPUFF GIRLS" went through three different "pilots" over six years before they became a series.
