Thanks for watching, from all of us at Matt's off-road recovery!
When you see that look on Matt's face, you know this ain't no joke.
That's the first time I have seen that look. Not a microexpression.
That is what i was thinking.
Thought the same.
I thought the same
had never seen Matt this nervous before
This might be the first time I saw fear in Matt’s eyes going up that hill pulling the jeep. Nice job gang!
I was just going to say that....not sure it was fear....but major concern!!!
Maybe not fear but certainly concern.
He couldn't hide it 😂 job well done 👍🏿🇿🇦
8:35... yea, Im thinking he’s not a fan of heights.
That one trail about a month ago they took the corvair on, he had Rudy drive the whole time was which was cliffy too.
Yep, I've been following the channel for a while and I've never seen Matt that focussed before, it must've been scary!
I think this is the first time I saw Matt actually scared.
I'm sure he had teeth marks in his seat after that!
Scared? No. Concerned? Very!!
Came here to comment nearly the same thing. I can't remember I've ever even seen Matt flinch at some pretty sketchy rescues. This one must have been a pucker factor over 9000.
Hence the reason that no one wanted to back the vehicles down the slope..lol FREAKIN SCARY!! I would have to say that, that is not a place someone would want to just go drive around at everyday..lol, as I bet most people do not go back there again!
@@jimfberry LOL! I'm stealing that one.
I just climbed that hill how in the world did you guys have a successful recovery and film it at the same time without anybody getting hurt. GREAT JOB.
I don't ever remember seeing Matt look so scared while driving. What a crazy recovery.
8:19 the expression on Matts Face tells you everything...
i was gonna comment that. He's so confident. seeing him scared made it real
Agreed. He is normally unfazed...
Was coming to the comments to say the same thing. Never seen that level of concern on his face; dare I even say scared?
Ditto!
I've legitimately watched every single video, and I've never seen Matt make that face. That guy they saved is lucky to be alive after attempting to do that alone.
"Courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway." ~ John Wayne
Legitimately? Is there some other way to watch "every single video" ?
That's overly dramatic.
@@clvrswine legitimately: adverb: in a way that can be defended with logic or justification; fairly.
"nobody can legitimately argue that he didn't pay his dues"
Since I've actually watched these videos through, and not just had them running in the background, I'd say the word qualifies.
@@trentvlak how? Are you saying you have previously seen that look of fear on Matt's face? That life wasnt in danger at all? That the jeep wouldn't have rolled 1000 foot down the mountain with one accidental slide? Or, are you just saying you want to be a dick in CZcams comments?
Watch Matt's life flash before his eyes when he says "Holy Smokes..." this was the best recovery I've seen to date.
Agreed, what a recovery.
YUP. never seen Unc so scared
Lindsey's remarks are priceless! Aside from that I hope they charge these guys big dollars to rescue them. Just because you own / rent a 4-wheel drive doesn't mean you can go anywhere. The little brain in the back of your head says this might not be a good idea you might want to listen to it! If it's scared Matt that gives me an idea that those other guys didn't have a clue.
The pucker butt face!!
Matt needs lower gears.
So impressive! Forget the shirt. I would need some "So I made a call" pants after that hill.
Brown ones
I don't think I have ever seen that look of concern on Matt's face when he was pulling the Jeep up the hill
Wow, that anxious look made me anxious, a first one
He was definitely white-knuckling it
Same exact thing I was thinking.
I was going to comment with the same thing!
Yeah, the pucker-factor on this one was at least a 7 out of 10 for Matt... 17 out of 10 for the average human.
A testament to the camera work that everyone got to see the look on Matt’s face and saw how serious it was.
Definitely gripping the seat!😀
I have never seen concern on Matt's face until he had to pull that up. Crazy!
I agree.
REALLY & TRUELY...THANKS FOR BRINGING THAT FORTH...
THAT COMMENT WAS IN REGAURDS TO THE CAMERA WORK
The Corvair is so damn impressive! What a world class build, kudos to everyone that had a hand in putting that machine together.
And there’s a fabulous fabricating rat that can help Matt put lower gears on it.
Matt got a video on that build?
The drone shots really captured the steepness of that rescue. Great job!
Use a plumb bob to show the difference between the B pillar and vertical
Holy. Crap, I have never seen Matt look so nervous, He looks like he is shaking.
The Jeep being rescued really can't cope with this terrain...
which is why it got into trouble in the first place.....
and Rudy is driving it.....and is attached by a long rope...
Matt's not a really happy chappie in the Morrvair....
concerned about the steepness and the high gear ratio in the transfer case...
plus the space for both vehicles to turn around at the top.....
Perfectly rational emotions.........
he's making sure no caviler decision is being made. His son is in a vehicle that can roll & roll
You know it's bad when Matt has that look of dread and distress. My knuckles were turning white!
was up there last Feb. I saw that hill and I was like nope. I don't have front lockers, only rear lockers, and I'm not sure my truck has enough HP to make it up that. Cause if you don't make it, you are backing your way down. Turning around on that steep hill wasn't really an option.
He does have that concerned look on his face.
The look of concern on Matt's face while ascending that steep incline speaks volume's about what was going through his mind.
I was thinking the exact same thing! I've never seen him look that nervous and I've watched almost all of his videos.
Camera might not show how steep it really was...but Matt's face did.
His face definitely says it. Also when Lizzy leans into the window you can see the angle slot better.
@@lolmybadbro7441 😁 pretty easy to get distracted when Lizzy is in the shot tho.
@@gthomas302 Perhaps I did just lose focus...🤔
The look on Matt's face while pulling the Jeep up the hill tells the whole story.
Capturing how steep a hill is on camera is near impossible. And yet, this looked STEEP, even on camera! I can only imagine how steep it was in person.
Looking at the way they were walking and the car close to the top seemed almost 45 degrees which is crazy. Looking at the video made me nervous for them.
An example of an impressive leader working with his team in a very dangerous location. Well done Matt!
Corvair just gave *Don't Care* a whole new meaning. That thing is an absolute hoss. Seriously impressive.
If the inclinometer was maxed out past 35 degrees they were on a 70%+ grade. Most military off road vehicle specs max out at 60%. That’s bleepin steep.
Or maybe.....Ain't Care? Matt's Off Road Recovery X Hoonigan?
THE CTEDIT GOES TO AWESOME DRIVERS..THEY DONT PANIC..CALM & EASY DOSE IT..LIKE GIT ER DONE ! & STAY ALIVE DOING IT ....
First I ever saw fear in Matt's eyes. You could just see the seriousness in his face. Never seen that before.
I came to say this same thing! seen him do hairy stuff, but never had a look of fear in his eyes. Possibly, in part, due to driving the less familiar MORRVAIR instead of the banana?
Not way to steep to skeatchy
The only thing off-road that still spooks me is backing down a failed hill climb, good job Matt.
I agree. Still gives me the creeps
FACTS!
For sure.
Yes sir!!!
when another offroad legend shows up in the comments
This has to be one of the most scenic recovery the team has ever done
My thoughts Exactly Jaden
It was absolutely gorgeous up there. And terrifying. Gorgefying?
It would be nice to live there for that kind of thing , I might take a razor up there
Matt (under his breath) "I don't EVER want to come up here again" Three days later he actually got the knots out of his stomach...
I love Lizzie's face when Matt told Rudy "I'm going to put you in there". That smile of relief like "thank God it wasn't me 🤣"
Lizzy could have done it! She is fearless and a gamer.
@@TrzCharlie no I think everyone wore their brown pants, including Matt for this one 🤣.
Outstanding recovery! I could see Matt's look of concern coming up that steep hill. That Morvair showed just how capable it is. An awesome build for sure!! Y'all work together like a well oiled machine 💯🇺🇸. I'm envious of the entire crew to have such an amazing job..
Of all the hairy rescues that is the first time I have ever witnessed a worried look on Matt’s face.
That’s the first time I think I’ve ever seen a look of concern on Matt’s face. It looked scary. Awesome Job everyone.
And "white knuckles" around the wheel.
Maybe because he was in a *new **_untested_** movvair* which proved itself at this "christening" ....
The banana and the Corvair that don't care this channel just gets better.
MORRVAIR it is... as in: Matt's-Off-Road-Recovery-V-A-I-R
This is the scariest video I've watched of yours! I've been in similar situations and it definitely gets you puckered, white knuckled, and your heart beating out of your chest. Crazy how capable that Corvair is.
Glad to see the corvair doing it's first official recovery and also good morning everyone happy Friday and good luck to those who're fishing this weekend :)
So far it’s the most serious face that I’ve seen Matt have!
Another note, years ago I was in Marine SAR and have seen the look on faces when folks figured they were going to die. The look on Matts face was pretty damn close, he justifiably concerned.
Man, I've never seen such a look of panic on Matt's face as in this one! I was so nervous! Good job everyone!
I swear, this is the first CZcams channel to NOT tilt the camera to make a hill look worse than it is. I mean, half the time they're actually making it flatter...
I noticed that too! At 6:30 you can see the horizon sloping down a ton, in the direction that would make the hill look LESS steep, and the hill still looked steep!
At 2:30 the look on Lizzy's face when Matt says Rudy is going in the jeep. Relief!
And that audible sigh of relief.
So the first section of that road is a 400ft rise in ~500 ft, which is ~38.7°. The point where he got stuck to the top is a ~500 ft rise over 400ft run, which is ~51.3° angle. Source, utah geological survey maps for elevation and scaling. Then run rise over run for grade, then inverse tangent for percentage.
Easily could tell how sketch it was due to Matt's face.
It’s good to know that some people still remember basic, high school geometry! 👨🎓📐
My iphone has a level. Stick it on the window sill, and you’ll know what angle you’re at!
can you provide the location pin so we can search it on the Google map?
Wasn't it the other way around, for example:
400 rise, 500run: 80% -->
Angle= arctan(80/100) = 38,7°
?
Anyway, thanks for your research! :)
@@tsd560ti6 and how would you know the measures 400ft and 500ft if you do not research and look for them in a map?? And atan (400/500) is not the same as atan (80/100) ??
I almost rolled my Jeep on something like this when I failed and tried backing down. Anyone with half a brain knows situations like this are scary as hell.
Glad to see you guys being safe.
Apparently you guys know how to build an off road truck
Seems unstoppable
This is the first time I've seen the team legitimately scared instead of having fun. With how steep that hill looked on camera, I can't even imagine the reality!
What a smile on Lizzy when Matt said he was gonna put Rudi in that jewp!😆
I chuckled when I saw that! 😂
Man, Matt...for all the videos I have watched, this is the first time I ever saw a look of real concern when you were towing Rudy up that! I am assuming they renamed that " Insanity Hill ! ".. :-) NICE job and everyone is safe!!
That drone shot gives a great perspective of just how steep of an angle you were working on. Great job by all.
Happy Friday!
LOL this episode was all about the look on Matt’s face that told a story on how steep it really was!
I bet that is the 1st time a Corvair has ever been to the top of that mountain!
I would not take that bet!
I think this time Matt was wishing he had a heavy lift Helicopter for this recovery. It took everything Matt and Rudy had in them to complete this recovery successfully, total professionals in the midst of pure terror they stayed focused and got the job done. Excellent job MORR team.
It's amazing to me how far some people get with their jeeps, trucks, or cars before they get in trouble.
Four wheel drive just means you get stuck further down the trail.
lol
@@philipkarsten9859 yep
In all the years of watching Matt this is the first time I’ve ever seen him that terrified
Lizzies look of relief at 2:30 as well as Matts white knuckles and the look on his face , is all the inclinometer that I need. Scary even sitting here at my desk.
Yes, glad Matt had Rudy get into that Jeep, but do think that if Matt had asked Lizzie to do so, she would have without complaint or argument. She knows that Matt knows her capabilities and wouldn`t ask her to do anything she wasn`t ready for.
@Crus Harold Yes I`m aware she is new to the recovery job, and Matt would never put her in ANY situation that she was not ready for, and Lizzie knows that.and if Matt had asked Lizzie to do so, she would have without complaint or argument. She knows that Matt knows her capabilities and wouldn`t ask her to do anything she wasn`t ready for. But there does come a time when the lead pilot says to the one being trained, --OK! You take it. Right.
Man... I'm afraid of heights and this episode gave me chills... Great job Matt and team!
I don't know how I found this channel but I've been binge watching the s$%t out of it.
It’s addictive, I’m waiting for every upload... 🇷🇴🇬🇧👍🏻
Holy HAIRBALLS! That was Steep! Don't think I've ever seen Matt look so "concerned". Strong work folks!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Matt look so nervous! Even more so than the Moab Rim trail!
Just came across this video. This has got to be the hardest recovery of your list of recoveries and you pulled it off very well, what a crew.
300 lbs of tent on the roof makes side hilling a real fun time
Likely the reason it drove off the road in the first place
For what was spent on the tent, awning and roof rack they probably could have put lockers and 35’s on it.
That tent weighs 150 max. These dudes just have no idea how to drive.
Yeah I was concerned about the high center of gravity on the Wrangler when Rudy had to turn it around.
It might weigh 120lbs.
As long as there are people who don't know when to turn around, Matt and his crew will always have a job.
No turning back on that hill! Get stuck or revervse
Sometimes ya just gotta turn around.
@@douglascarpenter5433 He wasn't stuck he could have went down way too easily LOL.
@@looseballs1966 He needed a shovel to get unstuck first, and then maybe he could have backed down, but it would have been hairy.
Dave...love your photo.
You know it's time to get nervous when you see Matt's face looking like it was going up that hill.
graffix11us - YES !! Rules dictate that the pucker factor couldn't be documented.
Great work Matt and crew!! Exploring in a 4x4 is a lot of fun but some people dont have enough experience to be going places like this and just dont realize it until they get into trouble.
Same with Rock climbers and boaters and pilots .
Damn that was sketchy af, you guys probably saved their lives. they had a guardian angel that got them off the trail in order to call you guys. Great Job!
Of all the videos Ive watched you all do of recoveries, this is the first time I’ve seen Matt have a white knuckle moment, you all are awesome
The look in Matt's eyes as he was pulling up the hill was just pure dear god please don't kill my son
Pucker butt face engaged!
Pause it (fittingly) at 9:11...that face is genuine nerves.
Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your channel. Wow thats what you call a cliffhanger. Insane how steep those hills were. And WOW the views. I've been to Bryce and Zion. Those views from where you were are magnificent. Every bit as breathtaking as any place in Utah.
Matt is human, saw real concern in his eyes that time. But just like usual the team got it done.
Another reason why I love watching all the videos is the landscaping! SOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!
Aside from a vid of workers climbing a 600ft tower, this was one of the scariest youtube videos.
I never thought to actually descend a mountain with the transmission in reverse. With an automatic it can just slip in the torque converter I guess, but if that gets you down a hill in one piece then it's worth the wear and tear. Thanks for sharing the video!
I've been up there, to the radio towers anyway, and saw this little leg from the bottom and it looked incredibly steep and exposed. Skill was demonstrated yet again today, skill AND nerve! Well done.
Yeah, it's no joke! It even looks crazy steep in this video, which is a testament to how steep it really is! I've been up to the radio towers numerous times on my ATV and only made the mistake of trying to climb this hill ONCE! Got to about this same spot and bailed off to the side and dragged my 750lb ATV from the front to point it back downhill. If you've ever hiked this hill, you know how loose it is too. After I bailed on the hill, I hiked up the rest of it and was so glad I stopped when I did. There are a couple off-camber spots near the top too that I probably would have ended up "3 wheeling" and likely ended up rolling. As I was hiking back down, my feet slipped out from me 2 or 3 times without any warning and I landed square on my butt each time. I just hope this video doesn't lead some of these keyboard warriors out to this area to go "try" this hill because it really is no joke.
@@gibsonrocker17 Agreed, it's dangerously steep. For reference, and many others have pointed this out, if a seasoned veteran looked spooked that's your sign to stay away!
You know it's serious when you see the concern on Matt's face. The drone footage was fantastic and showed how sketchy the trail was and the beauty of the scenery
You know this is proper steep when it still looks crazy steep even on a gopro!
Crazy steep bro! Shut up
Could not agree more. Was shouting at them when they said the camera doesn't show the steepness, hell it does.
You can especially see it when Lizzy is standing at the drivers window of the jeep with the difference in angle between her and the window sill.
The recovery price should go up in relation to the altitude and the steepness!! Good job Matt and team.
It almost certainly did.
I think this was first time I've seen Matt nervous 😮

I watched so many of these recovery videos. I have never seen Matt nervous before. Courage is being afraid and saddling up the horses anyway!
This video is a classic. It stands out among anything I've seen on CZcams. You were literally driving on the Ridgeline. That's some serious don't try this at home stuff.
yeah, don't try this at home, try this at ridgeline.
You saw Rudy's concern before they even got up the hill when he said," I've been up to the radio tower's, but never the top of the hill" at that moment he knew he was going to be driving the recovered vehicle.
Matt's facial expression is on point, he has the right to be scared, he never faked his expressions on any episode.
But the MORRVAIR looks absolutely GORGEOUS with that sunset behind it. I would love to get a picture on that spot printed on 1080p or just 720p on a matt paper with a little gloss on the car and I will pay for it.
Keep up the good work guys. Another successful recovery.

The drone really shows how steep the hills are more than the regular camera. The recoveries keep getting more challenging.👍
I'm glad y'all get so many calls, it's made for a great afternoon. I'm really glad that they're not usually too bad of situations. That looked super steep on camera, I could only imagine how steep that actually was. Love the content
Morons
Under 35 degrees 😳😳
My stomach flipped just watching them back up at the 'turn around'. Matt knows the Yellow Banana like a second skin. He knows where, all 4 wheels, all 4 corners, how it feels, sounds, at any given time. He hasn’t got the same ‘warm and fuzzies’ with the Morrvair yet. I agree with everyone else, Matt had the look of ‘please let this work out’. I cannot believe one of those vehicles didn’t try to flip on that incline. AMAZING recovery‼!
Wow...incredibly steep and scetchy recovery. The team showed their experience in spades by getting everyone back safely in a high risk situation. Views from the top were sensational. Well done guys👍
Not for the faint of heart - sweaty palms watching from the safe distance of my screen, God bless, great job !!!
That one brought back some scary memories for me. I had a bad rollover on a very similar hill 14 years ago. I rolled my bronco 14 times and went to hospital on life flight. Nice work keeping everyone safe on this recovery.
Horror movies don't phase me but that right there was scary.
This type of rescue is going above and beyond the call of duty.
This is an example of a tourist getting in trouble and then drawing other people into their trouble and putting the other people in danger because of their inexperience.
and stupidity (and laziness - why must so many ppl "drive" to the bitter end, they have feet don't they?)
Should have stopped at that ledge and hiked the rest of the way without a tracked vehicle, probably only thing up there before was the Dozer that cut the road for the Towers.
Watching this made my hands sweaty I couldn't even imagine what is was like for ya'll. Happy everyone made it down safely!
If they gave academy awards for CZcams videos MORR would get several. Videography, best actor, best supporting actress, best director, best script, best editing, best movie. Your whole crew is getting better all the time. So glad it worked out well. Best suspense too.
And best apprentice too. Haha
And Best Actor doing his own stunts.
Never seen Matt looking so nervous but the " Corvair don't care!"
I know that looked bad, and that it really was bad, but I'm pretty sure y'all barely scratched the surface of what the MORRVAIR can do. Incredible machine and people to run it! Glad everyone is safe!
First time I think I’ve ever seen Matt that visibly nervous, that tells me all I need to know about how steep that hill is. Awesome jobs guys!
The fact it looks steep even on camera is insane
THIS! I thought the same thing. Everyone that goes offroad knows that it never looks as steep as it is when you watch the video! SO this was ridiculously steep.
One heck of a recovery test for the corvair.
That corvair just does what it likes and does anything you ask of it. What a machine
That's not really a Corvair. It's merely the remnants of a rusty Corvair sheet metal atop a custom built chassis. That's why it's called a Morrvair!
I've been up on a climb like that before, by myself, and I can even see Matt's heart racing! I so know that feeling too well! But could only imagine having to be responsible for everyone else too! Great job!!

Good MORRning all. It’s a good day when Matt posts another recovery adventure. With all that’s going on in the world, MORR videos takes you to a better place and gives your mind a little vacation. What is wrong with you old man
@@ItzzTesta I guess I should explain. No, I’m not torturing little critters! The ant was in the microwave when I opened the door after heating my coffee. The other morning when I was putting dishes in the dishwasher, there were a lot of ants, so I ran the dishes. If I find a spider in the house I will catch and release but not ants. You must be a really good person to slam this old man for thinking I was into torture. I was just trying to add a little… humor. Cheers and stay safe.
