Thank you brother Chad for your continuing efforts to bridge the Old Testament to the new, as difficult and strained as that task necessarily is. When it comes to blood and gore, the book of Samuel does not disappoint, and it is hard to glorify Jesus through blood and gore stories. David of course did not hesitate to kill people on a whim or even for entertainment as 2 Samuel 1 and 2 inform us. It is hard to imagine a more unChristlike Biblical figure than David. David kills in cold blood, Jesus does not kill at all. As the Bible morphs throughout the generations and Catholics and Protestants split into evermore sects, increasingly the Old Testament will likely be excised as fundamentally incompatible with the New Testament.
