Well, I'm not sure how accurate the other simulators were. But my dad, an irl American truck driver, says that American Trucking Simulator is very accurate to driving over-the-road. Truck Driving is not as complicated as Mark made it seem.

21:11 Google Maps gives you the option to fix North up, and I always use it as such because like Mark, it helps me keep my directional orientation.
Watching Mark try to back up a trailer and not realizing he needs to turn the wrong way to straighten the trailer is the most infuriating thing I have watched in a long time

This is hilarious, and saddening. The sheer panic on Marks face resembles how I felt during my truck training almost a decade ago.
3 yrs later and this is still one of my favorite videos. The fluctuations of "I've got this shit" to "fuck, how do I truck?" make this some of the best Mark comedy for me.

I'm a new driver (about 4 months) driving for 7-Up and every time I miss backing into a dock I feel like people are judging me at work

@@teslacoil5378 I think it's just in our nature, just as we judge others on how they look and behave. We gauge their level of threat or usefulness on a base instinct level.
From that point on though, it's our choice to correct that judgement or throw it out completely, like you would with a beginner. :)

pro tip for anyone backing up with a trailer: put your hand on the bottom of your steering wheel, if you turn it left, the trailer will go left, turn it right, the trailer will go right. :D have fun hauling whatever you may be hauling!

Trying to get back into traffic when you accidentally get in the exit lane is just like that. This game looks like a really good simulator honestly, not sure about them brakes though. 90% of your technical difficulties are the exact same things I heard all the time at truck driving school.

As a truck driver, it makes me happy when non CDL holders learn why trucks do what they do.
I operate heavy equipment and all I can say is it seems like those trucks are like steering a front loader but worse and I can't imagine doing that on the highway fuck that, I'll stick to pulling trailers and moving dirt in my quarry lmao

I'm going to argue on the compass settings. Fixed point and directional compass headings serve different purposes. Fixed point, as in north is up, is for finding out where you are better, and relating that to the things around you in a set way. Directional, or Orientation, is meant for when you are trying to get somewhere. Most physical compasses even include a second needle to set your orientation.
The best part about is the reaction of the roll over, the second best is he is like a real trucker no f's given about company equipment. And the realization service didn't fix a damn thing. Welcome to trucking
