      I agree. The irony is, she is very very bigoted about her own skin colour. She hates herself so much the way she was born, she needs to cover up, lie about her skin tone, fake that hair. I mean, no-one ever wanted to hang her from a tree, so she only has a deep psychological issue to deal with. Not actual life events which threatened to burn her alive as many many black people still do.
      I can't stand her fakeness. I actually pity her.

Your gender is the same as your sex & this world has gone insane to support people who amputate perfectly normal functioning body parts because of a voice in their head that tells them to and the fact that people who think like me are bashed when they speak up is even more insane because facts don't care about your feelings, in this case you are a white woman weather you feel black or not doesn't matter the fact is you are NOT black, these people need psychological help & I'm not being condescending when I say that.

Up until now there hasn't been any public case or big deal about anybody claiming they are another race. Her issue is new and there has been no time for anybody to take up her case and shove it down our throats and Bully us into thinking one way or another about it. That is the only difference. Sorry to say as well You are what you were born as, you may not like it but it is what you are!!!! Bruce's DNA will always say he is male, he will never get a period. He will always be stronger than the average woman. If he stops taking hormones he will revert back to looking more masculine ( he stills looks masculine regardless) . he can never become pregnant. If someone identifies themselves as an ethnicity or include themself in a culture they weren’t born in, people disagree and use the argument of that’s not who you are; then turn around and support people who change who they are anyway.
    If you are born as one gender but change your appearance or identify as another gender, are you that because that’s what you identify yourself as and thats what you want to be?
    Both person identifies as what they aren’t but because like to pick and choose they’ll say why one is ok and the other isn’t and become defensive. Society has made it acceptable to identify as what you are not and then be called authentic. When they do not agree, they criticize. Too many people use that word that to describe themself and I’m not sure if everyone who uses that word really lives up to the meaning.

    This is a very interesting question. What exactly defines “race” (ethnicity)? The DNA kits that are available now have shown a large population of people who thought they were 100% European or 100% African or 100% Native American actually have quite diverse bloodlines. Do we go with the “one drop of blood” school of thought or the “majority rules” school of thought?
    Then we get into ethnic identity for children raised by non-biological parents. I know a family with a black father and white mother who adopted a white child. Their child identifies as white, but LEGALLY she has a black father. Rachel Dolezal has a black man who she CONSIDERS her father, even though he is not her biological father, as well. So is it completely off-base for her to identify as black?
    This one has me scratching my head. I will say that Ms. Dolezal needs to be careful with the fake tanning if that’s how she has changed her skin tone, as it can lead to serious health issues. But I actually like her hair better curly 😉.

    We must all do foolish things, so when we become wise, we are less boastful. There is no person among us who hasn't or will not bend the truth or lie about a thing in order to get what they want. The lengths we go to protect the lie, to protect ourself from the repercussions, vary according to how far the tale has been spun. This woman is no different except in degree.
    Perhaps Rachel was bored of her standard life, and seeing what TV black people have to deal with, she found a reason to be, a struggle to engage with, a hurdle to test her stride (she's clearly clever).
    When I listen to my fellow black people talk about the black experience, in contrast to my own everyday experience, it often reminds me of a costume that we supposedly put on, and perhaps Rachel thought she could mimic that, using the same memes of police and political discrimination. For many of us, being black is expressed as a burden. I get the impression some black people wake up first thing and immediately remember to be 'black'.
    Politically, I am black, gay, and a woman. If I had to wake up every morning with the weight of those expectations, I'd struggle to make anything of my life. I am a human being, experiencing God's gifts; life, beauty, resolutions, adversity, mercy. This is Rachel's story too, and yours. We must all do foolish things, so when we become wise, we are less boastful.

    Honestly, as someone who is half Hispanic and half white (though I'm what most would call "white-passing"), I don't see why everyone can't be proud of their true racial identity. I respect Wendy for not criticizing Rachel for holding high regard for African American identity, but Rachel really needs to learn to appreciate who she really is. She should really try to embrace her true Czech, German, and Swedish roots as well.

    If you see her parents interviewed, they said she wanted to be Black ever since she was four years old and even painted gorgeous, abstract self-portraits portraying herself as Black with lots of braids. (She’s always had a talent for art.) I look at her this way: If Gentiles can convert to Judaism and call themselves Jews forever afterward (converts are never asked to reveal if they have been Jewish from birth), I think Rachel just sort of “converted” to being Black. Race is a false construct anyway, made for the purpose of the discrimination of all ethnicities other than Anglo-Saxon.

    I think everyone needs to take a few steps back and chill out for a minute. Black, white, yellow, red, whatever. Screw all that. Why can't we just be colorless. It's a damned shame and an absolute disgrace that we still have these issues in this day and age. When I look at people, I see people first. I don' see their color as a defining attribute. Assholes are assholes, sweet people are sweet people, intelligent people are intelligent people. First. The color doesn't make a difference to me. Everybody's on this woman's case. What about Vanilla Ice? Eminem? The Beasties? What about Donald Fagan? Boz Scaggs? I've heard some white dudes that sounded a whole lot "blacker", "bluesier", "funkier" or whatever. Did they steal album sales from some aspiring black artists? And what about Michael Jackson? Ok - he took a lot of heat for lightening his skin... Anyway, my point is that it's a shame that it even comes to these types of discussions. I have lived my entire adult life in a very white world - europe. 90% of the time I am the only black person around. But I made my way. Yeah, I had to work twice as hard as everyone else, because all eyes are on me. Not one person handed me anything. And if I went by what all the other black people here in Europe constantly say, then I should never have been able to make any kind of meaningful life for my family or myself. That's bs. I'm black by birth, but I identify as human. And that#s the vibe I give off. And that's what gets reciprocated when people - of all colors - interact with me. I don't project any feelings of racial anything. I am good to all people, firm with those who need it, and open and honest and fair to everyone. That's what I get back from PEOPLE. Just people.

    So answer me this, why has society accepted Bruce Jenner becoming Caitlin Jenner and mostly everybody has accepted that, but now a white woman wants to become a black woman but yet she gets shamed for it...Why? Please tell me what's the difference. Caitlyn Jenner isn't even a "REAL WOMAN" but still got "Woman of the Year" with Time Magazine. Somebody please answer why Rachel is getting sooo much hate for being born white and wants to be black but Caitlyn is getting sooo much love for being born a man and now "tranforms" into a woman. Please explain!!!

    • @purple8358
      @purple8358 Před 7 lety +6

      Rachel is getting hate because she is trying to act as if he went through an experience that she didn't. She is white genetically. Her parents are white and so is she. She is acting as if she actually and truly understands what it feels like to be discriminated against her entire life and that is not okay because people actually go through that experience. That's why it is not okay. You can't pretend that you went through something you never did. And if someone does try to pretend that they must be mentally ill. The difference is the years of oppression black people have went through and still go through to this day and the fact that white people in America have never been oppressed. And Rachel is trying to act as if she has been oppressed because of her skin color when she knows deep down she never has and she never will. The difference with Caitlin Jenner is that people accept things like that. Things that have to do with gender transitions and being gay and other things are seen as acceptable in our society. The black community will not accept someone who is not black trying to piggyback our struggle but the majority of our society will accept the fact a man wants to change his gender to a woman because nowadays that is seen as normal.
