  • Today I show off 24 books that I recently added to my collection from a recent used library sale and used bookstore haul. I eventually want to have over 1,000 books so I can officially call it a library. But I'm in no hurry for that, that will come in many years in the future.

Exotic haul. Particularly excited to see what you think of the Black Company and of Crichtons Timeline. The Belgariad is classic fantasy so you may want to space that out from your reading of Shannara. Or lean into that and compare the two. That might be cool. Shadow of a Dark Queen is the beginning of the third trilogy, and there are a few one-offs before it too, so it is Book 9. But it is new main characters so you could totally enjoy it without having read any of the earlier books.

Thanks Aaron! I'm excited to dig into those two as well. Perhaps Timeline a little more just because it's a standalone. That is a great point, I may hold off on Belgariad until I finish the first Shannara trilogy. Thank you for clarifying that! Like I said, Feist's books intimidate me a little bit just because I'd hate to "ruin it" and read them in the incorrect order.

Great Haul! I really enjoyed David Eddings! Lonesome Dove is on my tbr! You really need to tell us more about the book you are presenting.

Thanks Cliff! I'm hoping Eddings still stands out compared to "modern" fantasy. That's a fair point, I'll try and keep that in mind

I love a good haul video!
Looks like you stole reece's copy of The Belgariad!I have Eddings on my fantasy TBR list.
No! Dont read Rama Revealed. Rendevous with Rama is the first book, and should be the only book in the series, the rest of them are written with what seems like VERY litle input from Clarke and in my opinion go a long way towards ruining the brilliance of Rendevous with Rama, Im bias though as Rendevous with Rama is my #1 all time Sci fi book, and I think one of the things that gives it that impact is the unanswered questions, and then the follow up books try to answer them and I think its veeeeery dissapointing.
I just picked up the first book in the black company saga too! I picked up a mass market paperback copy of the first book.

They are honestly the most fun!
Okay I'll hold off on Rama until I get Rendezvous. That is good to know. Like I said in the video, when I picked the book I had no idea what it was aside from seeing Clarke on the cover.
Nice! I'm pumped to get into it, but there are soooo many things I feel I have to catch up on. That's cool, I think I've decided that I prefer reading/owning the individual entries rather than the omnibus. But at the end of the day I'm happy to have a book I'm excited about regardless.
