they're cheaper, you can fit more on the shelves, i can read them faster, very portable. i love MMPB
Cool man! Totally get that.
How do you read them faster? It's the same number of words as the HC.
Probably the smaller pages makes it feel like you’re moving quicker.
@@BookishChas correct lol
Pros, I can bring MMPB book everywhere.
Cons, I can't smack it with people who interupt my reading like a hardcover.
Haha yes, hardcovers are probably better for smacking.
My priorities are cheap price and comfort to hold in my hands while reading in bed or the bath (my 2 primary reading locations!), so I'm all for mass market paperbacks!
Oh yeah they’re a great option for your priorities.
Wow you got so creative with those pros I love it! I’m among those who can’t stand the tall skinny mmpbs-their bound tighter usually with text closer to the middle binding so it’s harder to read. But worst of all there’s less book for my hands to grasp and less margins, so I inevitably have to cover up the text to just hold it comfortably! What an awful awful idea that nobody ever asked for!
Yes! Those are good points on the downsides of those too. Thanks Ben!
Totally understand the mismatched sizes. Especially since as far as series are concerned, I don't always buy books from the same print run. So not only do the covers not match, but also the size.
Oh yeah that’s invariably one of my problems too.
901 subs. You are getting close. I am so excited for you. Great points. I have had problems with broken spines with some of my hardbacks for sure. The last time I threw a book I was reading, I think it was Harry Potter and it wasn’t because I was enjoying it. 😅 Nice video.
😂 Okay that happens too yeah. Thanks for watching! Yeah I’m almost there.
I completely agree. Eye health is important as we only have one set and they are not replacable.
Absolutely! I plan not to lose mine haha.
Hahahaha anger proof! This was so fun to watch. I used to hate mass market paperbacks, and never read them. I still avoid them when I can, but sometimes it's the only way I can easily find some books. And they are nice and portable
Glad you liked that lol. Yeah it’s hard to find some books in other formats; especially older books.
Ever since I became enamoured with e-books, I have gotten rid of about 80% of my paperbacks as I now have them on my e-reader. Less clutter in my life 😊
Oh yes I wholeheartedly agree with you there. I read about 90% ebooks.
The font thing is spot on. Currently, I am reading King's Sleeping Beauties. I need to take breaks to give my eyes time to limber up.😢
Oh yeah I can understand that. I have to take a lot of breaks with physical books.
Hiii sir, i liked your sense of humor, you gave nice ideas. I also own some mass market paperback, some of them is Asoiaf book 3 a storm of swords with around 1200 pages, and also gentleman bastard trilogy, dune etc. Thanks sir for your great idea to convey peoples to like mmpbs. Okay sir, take care.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Take care.
The different sizes con goes for hardback as well, at least where I live. I have hardbacks in all kind of sizes but then again that goes for my non-english books.
But you're right in that they are the most portable format of physical books, fit into all my bags regardless of size. But if your a women your all out of luck trying to fit them into pockets.
Oh yes I can see that. Makes you glad to have bags at least. The same problem goes for hardcover, yes. Never a uniform size factor. Thanks for watching Andrea!
My first attempt at The Way of Kings was a mmpb. It quickly became obvious it was not the way to absorb that book! I bought the audible and enjoyed it. But yeah, smaller paperbacks stack nicely and are cheap. I like to carry books on my walks and don't worry too much about hurting them, easily replaced. If I drop it in the mud, no no no! don't drop the book in the mud!!! Even a cheap used paperback! But I did have a cow lick my book once.
Oh wow! That’s one I haven’t heard before lol. That cow must have liked the book lol. Yeah Way of Kings is way to chunky for MMPB.
mass markets are my favorite!!! i love how tiny they are and i don’t feel as bad ruining the cover by throwing it in my purse or work bag lol
Oh yes those are definitely benefits of mass markets. Thanks for watching Morgan! 😊
What is that book you have in you shelf beside the DUNE that says giant..
Hi there! That’s my book actually. It’s called Talindor’s Guest, but I can see why Guest looks like Giant from a distance. 😊
@@BookishChas thank you chas 🍓
@Samir2005s you’re welcome. 😊
Now that I'm older... I totally understand what you mean by the smaller text 😅
Yeah it sucks getting old sometimes lol
@@BookishChas 🤣🤣🤣
I used to own that same mmpb of Neverwhere so many years ago! I lent it to my then boyfriend and I told him how much it bothers me when people break the spines of books. He gave me the book back after we broke up, and it was obvvious he intentionally cracked that spine to hell and back 😖. He was definitely bitter about the breakup 😂.
Oh my goodness! I’m so sorry that happened Johanna. He obviously wasn’t right for you. Darn spine cracker. 🤣🤣
Mass Markets forever.
They definitely have a lot of advantages, for sure. Thanks for watching! 😊
Commenting before I watch bc I am TEAM MMPB TILL I DIE and no one can convince be otherwise!!!😂
🤣🤣 I love them too, but… 😂
why is that never where mass market paperback 74$ on amazon?
Good question! I’m not sure. It may be that the edition you found is limited edition, or a private seller trying to make a lot of money. That is a crazy price though.
Ok yes I found that, and it looks like it’s from a private reseller. That particular edition is probably hard to find. I bought mine at least 15 years ago.
Got to have that flop.
Indeed!
Sometimes, you need to talk about yourself in 3rd person. Why? No idea other than it mixes things up
Haha so true! It mixes me up too lol.
only ever throw a book you like haha, it's the best way to get someone’s attention if you want them to read it. Make people afraid NOT to read it hahaha. On the rae occasion that I do but physical books, I don’t mind them not matching, it reminds me the library when I was a kid and their books rarely matched
Oh that’s a very good point Jenni. I should’ve said that. 🤣
@@BookishChas use tyrany to spread the word of good novels haha
Haha yes! Good plan.
Longer book are easier to fit into pockets
Yes, very true
I’m starting to think you do throw books, especially at people lol. My mother was a big book thrower when I was growing up, she read a lot of horror (king mostly) but her mass markets really held up.
Haha I can imagine King books being very throw-worthy. I promise I don’t throw them at people. At least not yet haha.
The last 2 pros 😂😂🤣😂
Haha, glad you liked those 😂
I hate it when a books got a broken spine
Oh yeah me too.
love the channel keep up the great work making great content
Thank you so much! 😃
Cons? for MMPBs? Easy. They don't exist...haha
🤣🤣 No cons for you huh?
@@BookishChas nope lol
