    ☆ ABOUT ME ☆
    I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. When I reached 50, I set out my own and created a business selling on Amazon using their FBA program. Great fun, but neither career left much time for healthy living.
    I turned 60 last year (2023). I found myself 110 pounds overweight and seriously out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with sky-high cholesterol, and unable to walk for more than 20 minutes without resting.
    I decided to make some major changes. I shut down my Amazon business and started living frugally. Health is more important than money, especially as we grow older. In August 2023 I started the carnivore diet and lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
    I’m hooked! I can walk for miles without a rest now. My cholesterol is within normal levels as is my blood pressure. I am no longer pre-diabetic, and I feel 30 years younger!
    After experiencing the benefits, I’ve become passionate about sharing my story to help others.

    Don't be bummed out; the body does what it needs. I am 73 and 5'8" tall. I normally weighed 105-110# and because of a walking issue, always stayed intentionally thin. But that required weekend binging (ever wake up on a Sunday morning and wonder who ate that jar of peanut butter😂?) followed by week long starving! I am day # 113 on carnivore. This week I weigh 117-120#. I am still able to mobilize and feel better than I have in years! Thanks for your showing and sharing your walk! Rita, Middle Tennessee 😁

      @@Jaylwoodworth BTW, I’m going to Poland in a few month from Australia. Am really concerned that if I eat pierogi or Bigos it might add back inflammation. I should have your attitude about going to India. Go with the flow.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yes, as long as it’s the exception, not the rule. Pay attention to your body and how you feel if you eat pirogis (I would eat a serving if I were in Poland) and make sure you get back on carnivore afterward.

    Don’t forget that you have likely built muscle which weighs more than fat - you need to measure waist and other body parts which will tell the more accurate tale. Great job - very encouraging

  • @catpatrick3838
    @catpatrick3838 Před 6 měsíci +3

    Wow! Impressive weight loss over five months! 🙌🏻 The best part about carnivore is how good you feel. Hopefully India will give you lots of meat options. Maybe do a kinda ketovore approach, meats, eggs, fats and a few veggies when it's a part of the dish. I use onions and peppers in some of my cooking, especially gumbo because it's a bit sacrilegious to make gumbo without onions and peppers. I get enough flack for eating it without rice. Gumbo soup anyone 😂? Enjoy India!

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Mmm, that gumbo sounds delicious. My main unbreakable rule for India will be no sugar. Also, no bread or rice unless there just isn’t anything else available. Otherwise I can be pretty flexible.

    • @catpatrick3838
      @catpatrick3838 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@Jaylwoodworth Yeah, bread, rice and especially sugar just aren't worth it. Add potatoes to that list and you should be fine. Gumbo "soup" is delish. Most people can't fathom eating gumbo with no rice but I don't mind. Haven't had rice, potatoes, bread and/or sugar in so long kinda doubt my system could handle it.

  • @BradRocker
    @BradRocker Před 6 měsíci +3

    I agree, Holidays are always a weight gain time. I'm at about the same time as you a little over 5 months in. down about 30lbs. Yeah don't pass up that great shrimp Biryani.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I love shrimp briyani! Chicken tikka masala is delicious too, as are so many other Indian dishes. The tikka masala is actually almost ok, as long as I don't eat it over rice. Lots of spices, but the sauce is mostly butter.

    • @BradRocker
      @BradRocker Před 6 měsíci +1

      Absolutely. Yes love that Marsala. I know the rice is not on our list. such a shame though.

    I'm not sure if you'll see this, but I have been to India.
    High rate of diabetes there, they eat a lot of carbs. If you canI do chicken and eggs, probably can't get beef since they don't eat it. They have McDonald's over there, but they don't have beef.
    If anything do the best you can and enjoy the trip.

      Thanks for the tips. Yes, it can be a very carby diet with all the bread and rice. I’ll be as carnivore as I can, but I expect I’ll be making a few compromises while I’m there. And then I’ll go hardcore again when I get back home.

    My pet peeve is muscle weighs more than fat. No it’s denser than fat. A pound of feathers fat or muscle is what? All the same pound. I like the description of weight loss as like stairs, you will drop some the have a landing aka plateau then some more loss then another plateau. Usually more at the beginning then less down and more plateau. In general. To much too fast isn’t good for your body anyway. The goal is to get it off. You didn’t gain it all at once it’s not coming off that way either. But if your like me you look at food and gain 10 but diet for 3 mos lose 5 if lucky. Lol I’m so glad I found your channel. I’m starting carnivore myself soon. I’m a frequent fall off the wagoneer.😂 I’m going to get a start bloodwork to see how my end results are in a year. 🤞🏼

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Yes, it is so quick at the beginning, but you’re right, it does slow down and we hit plateaus at a certain point. I agree that this is natural and nothing to get discouraged by.
      This is the one diet where I don’t have the desire to cheat. It’s so easy. Best of luck to you!
