Why would she take on another new job from him, new contract for SYTYCD show if she was so traumatized by his behavior? She didn't have to take a new job from him. She's also filing she got paid less then the men on American Idol but regardless of whether that's true, she signed a contract early on to be paid a certain wage. It's now popular to play the victim card to your own advantage. She has told some whoppers about her career and this is just another.

I completely understand defending yourself and fighting for your rights, what I don’t understand is everyone always filing a decade or more later after the fact…
When a victim of someone prominent speaks out and it’s a victim of certain ‘know’ prestige and power…I assume the assailant in question is a repeat offender and is doing this to other less prominent victims.
If it becomes common knowledge in these circles that this man has a habit of these abusive behaviours the information likely got back to Paula through the grape Vine. I hope it’s not to this degree, but a man that makes his female work colleague of notable social standing feel that in danger and uncomfortable, I can’t imagine how he would behave with someone he had more power over.
If an anonymous woman or woman not in the industry accused him, they would’ve been written off fast or drained out in court. The person with the most money tends to win in cases like this, long proceedings and all that.

When she said the bad joke he made implying the statute is limitations was almost up so they should celebrate, it totally seemed on brand for him.
Thats because the law is not taking how frightening these situations are, into consideration. Laws are ridged and only follow how it is written down. So criminal charges are difficult to make stick and send perpetrators away. It also depends on what type of cop you get and if they want to pursue charges. This anxiety of being belived by the courts make women not come forward until they are ready to fight back. By making them pay money and telling the public is the only way to hold them accountable.
I was sexually harassed by my boss when I was 24. I was in shock but I needed the job and continued working for him. After that he came and said to me something to the effect that he had a nice time and I told him I don’t know about him, it was a nightmare for me. A few months later I left the job for other reasons. There are many things involved. Did Abdul need the job? What if she did soeak up, who would believe her? Who would have believed me? Celebrities need to make a lot of money to have a certain lifestyle and he could jeopardize her getting other jobs??
Then let her open a dance studio and work 9-5.
Sorry that happened. I've not been s3x@ully harassed but I have been badly bullied in the past and stayed in those jobs for way too long like you did.
I think sometimes survivors stay due to low self esteem or stay out of desperation/need.
