    If the auto-transmission kick-down cable too tight,it will make throttle body plate always closed. Normally the throttle body butterfly plate exist a little open without depressing pedal(engine at idle),when engine warm up in idle,vacuum apply to throttle opener and cause butterfly plate closed. The air flow into intake manifold is adjust by ISC(idle speed control valve) and IACV.
    Factory service manual use terminology "throttle body cable" as auto-transmission kick-down cable. The cable connected to pedal an "accelerator cable".

    @noisy_boi_fpv_3920 Před 2 lety +1

    That is the gearbox line pressure control cable not throttle cable. You are pretty much wrong on everything u say. The bobbin on the cable should be inside the cable outer and only protruding 0-1mm. Then push rubber sheath back on. This cable regulates the pressure in the gearbox more pressure harder shifts less pressure softer shifts

      @stephenthomas1272 Před 2 lety +1

      Surprised no one has responded to your comment. I have a 97' LS400 and my shifts from P to D to R are all hard when the car is driven cold (1000-1200rpm).
      I made the adjustment according to this guys instruction because my cable stopper was also out about 6-8mm away from the outer cable. My concern is that I was barely able to get the stopper to where it is now because the outside nut that gets turned counter-clockwise ran out of threads to turn on. I believe the cable on my car is stretched out. Would love to hear your take on this.

      Make sure throttle valve is fully closed. Check that the inner cable is not slack. Measure the distance between outer cable and stopper on the cable. Standard distance 0-1. If you aren't able to achieve this distance but you aren't having issues then leave it, otherwise consult a mechanic or transmission shop and perhaps replace the cable.

    On previous post j forgot to mention j change the fluid and filter twice and the 3 magnet was absolutely clean (0) both times .If some part of gearbox is broken there will be something on the magnet?

    • @simple8818
      @simple8818  Před 2 lety

      Not necessarily. There are times when small pirces of metal are found on the magnet due to wear and tear. Some cars are just notirious for transmission issues. Search for your car model to see if others are complaining about the transmission. Also mileage of the car plays a factor. Hope this helps.

    • @simple8818

      By deleting the cruise control do you mean you removed the cruise control cable? If so, I don't think it makes any difference on older cars that use throttle cable. Put the cruise cable back if you can to see if it fixes the problem.

      Hi Kiwan, please check the ATF level and color of the fluid. If it is very dark (brown/black), it might need a flush; but ATF flush can cause transmission issue if it's never been done. It all depends on how regularly the transmission fluid was maintained in the past.
