    This is a FANTASTIC idea! Sometimes trying to find new books can be confusing because its like "What was that one book -insert name here- read? I know it was in a book haul... or was it a wrap up? Probably both but..." then I watch a dozen videos searching and then ultimately getting distracted. Plus I like to hear what books you liked the most in a given time frame so a seasonal wrap up- top 5 is excellent!

    I saw Nathan Filer give a talk in Bristol (where he and I are both from), England, and he was fantastic. I had to cram read the Shock Of The Fall the day before the talk but he was so insightful. He worked in as a mental health nurse in the years preceding the writing of this novel and his experience comes through in such an interesting way, especially in how people treat those with mental illnesses - even when they work in that profession. Such an important read, especially in this time of raised awareness for invisible illnesses. Fantastic book. Glad you liked it :D

    Your top 5 all look so great. I actually own all of them except for The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, but its description sounds like exactly the book I need to read right now so it's on the top of my to-buy list!
    I think my favourite of the summer was We Were Liars. I probably went into it with the complete opposite mindset of everyone else - I didn't expect to like it at all - but I was so pleasantly surprised with it. Absolutely loved it. Still think about it often.

    You seem to have read some amazing books! I still haven't read any Sanderson but I have the Mistborn boxset on my Christmas list =D
    Burial Rites is an amazing read, Hannah Kent is such a skilled writer. Sedgwick is one of my favourite authors - I've just picked up a really nice hardback of Blood Red Snow White recently so I hope to get to that one soon. I just want to read everything he's written.
    All the Light We Cannot See has a gorgeous cover! I'm hoping to get that one at some point

    Goodreads should change their rating system to yours. After 4 stars they should have: 5 stars, 5 stars-with-eyebrow-lift, 5 stars-with-eye-widening, and lastly, 5 stars-with-the-slow-reiteration-of-how-awesome-it-is.
    Also, I think CZcams wasn't fully working. It didn't show me the power-point presentation that I KNOW had to be there at the start of the video...

  • @MissShinkou
    @MissShinkou Před 10 lety +1

    Wow, during summer you read just two books less than me during all of 2014. I feel a little jealous :D
    I think my favourite was probably Landline by Rainbow Rowell. I'm not sure, though, because all the books I read over the summer were really good, but there wasn't one that makes me gush completely just thinking about it.
    I always really like the set up and coloring of your videos. It feels very home-y :)

    You know what book I think you'd really like? The Twins by Tessa de Loo. It's a World War II novel about twin sisters, born in 1916, who were split up quiet young. One went to live in the Netherlands, the other in Germany. The story is about them meeting each other somewhere in the 1990's and just talking about their lives and the war and... It's fascinating, and I'm sure you'd love it!

    Hmmm, it's hard to decide on my favorite book from this summer.
    The Kiss of Deception was pretty great, but I read the sequel to the Darkest Minds and really enjoyed it. But I also read a book called Silicon Man, and it really impressed me as well.
    Gah! Too many good books.
    I'll say Never Fade was my favorite summer read, and that Silicon Man was the best out of the ones I had low hopes for to begin with. Which is good, considering I would now put it on my top five.
