A couple of points about Marduk's f+1+2 in this game. It's one of only two highs in the history of Tekken that are launch-punishable on block (as far as I'm aware), the other being the high extension to one of TTT1 Prototype Jack's strings (the exact name escapes me). It's also -4 *on hit*.
@@davidparry5310 Ah. I love that string, but yeah, it kinda sucks. It also comes in FC,d/f+1,2,f+1 and FC,d/f+2,f+1 variations, still just as bad aside from a bit of mix-up value.
@@JunKazamaFan It's actually come to my attention that, apparently, Lei's d/b+4,4 in this game, the second hit of which is a high, is also launch-punishable on block at a massive -25. I'm beginning to understand a little better why Lei was considered so trash in this game. That said, I still hope that TMM covers it in some detail in a future T4 revisited video on Lei.
@@JunKazamaFan Actually, the biggest Achilles' Heel of Lei in T4 was probably the fact that he's the most stance-based character in the game, coupled with the fact that movement and spacing were practically non-existent in T4. Those two things were just oil and water. Mix-ups from stances require space to set up, and space was what you had hardly any of in T4 most of the time.
Tekken 4 was the beta in the CHANGING of battle mechanics in Tekken in which they introduced us the that we can do now aerial combos AT LEAST...that we cant hardly do way back in Tekken 3 because of slow recovery, hard to do moves, hard to add some move extentions, few movesets in command list...and very few characters that has moves that you can add as a simple extentions for their air combos...they made every character now in Tekken 4 a little bit faster for more move execution...even character designs Tekken 4 was the BETA of re designed costumes and their appearances that became iconic and we known now for every characters...and then re designed again in Tekken 5 in which Tekken 5 was became the ALPHA (THEY NAILED IT) in terms of iconic costumes that has been reused again in Tekken 7 and movesets that first appeared in Tekken 5...just like changing Craig Marduk's VALE TUDO STANCE to TACKLE Mix ups....and so on to the other characters.....
Didn't Marduk also have a sort of an armor move shoulder charge in this game as well? Think he could tank a hit without the hit cancelling the move, just resetting the animation.
Omg Marduks debut? Yo, he sucked so bad haha but this was the time I was starting to use big dudes in all games. Gief in SF, Hulk in Marvel, etc so I used the hell outta weak ass Marduk and made him work. His default outfit that's in his cutscene at the end was hands down the best. That hair was on point, same as Paul with his hair down. Tekken had so many great ideas through their history that they just got away from.
Marduk main and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belt here, I'd say that Marduk's mount attacks in Tekken 4 is the most realistic, since he'd go with an armbar from the mount or headbutts after the fourth punch. While in Tekken 7, he'd go with a knee bar from the mount which is totally unnecessary because BJJ on the mount, BJJ fighters would prefer to attack the upper part of the body instead of the lower part (the legs). It is also less likely that a BJJ or submission fighter would try to get a guillotine from the mount, one would try to get the guillotine from the guard or the sprawl position. Thanks for the video TMM, I didn't realize that Tekken 4 Marduk was more realistic on the mount. Great video! :D
