The Foundation Dominion was the centerpiece of our .308 Shorty build earlier this year. This time, we’re trying something different with this stock, and will compare it to our other favorite: The Foundation Genesis 2.

You had me at micarta, my favorite knife scale material.
Fun story when I was in Jr High, my Father was a friend of Blackie Collins. So my Father gave me a custom Blackie Collins folder with Micarta scales. It was stolen my freshman year in high school., I wish I still had that knife...he wasn't famous yet, I remember reading about him in knife magazines when I got older
Ouch! I feel your pain. That would have been such a cool knife to have retained and used over the years.
@@guyminer3168 always wondered if they Knew what they had, I didn't realize it till the early 80's when I read about him in a magazine...
So cool! If only we could have it made for a long action, and a “flush” bottom metal…. Mausingfield action, because I’m a weirdo…
Great stock from the folks at Foundation.
Hello to both!
I was on the fence about ordering the dominion, but after watching the shorty build and this video I decided to order one up from John-Kyle. I’m planning on using my zermatt origin action, Hawkins hunter bottom metal, and a spiral fluted hawk hill barrel chamber in 25 creedmoor. I’m thinking it will be a fun gun for hunting out west and NRL hunter type matches. I prefer a little heavier rifle for hunting, it helps with seeing your impacts. Thanks for the great content.
Looks great. Weights seem a bit heavy though. IMO, in this day of "super scopes" (of great variety of objective sizes) I think an adjustable comb is a must, however.
How they guna make it lighter and add adjustable comb? Your asking for 2 different things
The use of micarta is a cool idea for a PRS rifle, where weight is a good thing, I'm not sure it's the right material for a hunting stock where it can't be too light in its bare configuration. It seems you just get a heavy stock without getting the features of an accuracy oriented stock, like comb and lop adjustments. 3.5 lbs is way too heavy. It probably shoots nice because it's heavy.
I would have never thought that this was where shorty would go. Heavy barrel, big heavy scope, bipod, full size stock. I probably would have done it differently. 12” LOP stock, Compact scope, threaded barrel with compact solvent trap accessories. Would have probably even chosen an Encore platform instead.
After seeing you guys shoot out west I guess I can see why you set up your rifles like this. You actually have wind and can see more than 100 yards at a given time.
You’ve inspired me to get a short 308.
Look for a used 788 Rem in .308 with 18" barrel. That would be a great platform.
I can still smell and taste the micarta from machining it.
"It's the smell, if there is such a thing. I feel saturated by it. I can taste micarta's stink and every time I do, I fear that I've somehow been infected by it." 😅
Fantastic story
Want a foundation bad but think a Boyds Agility in Blaze is next for me
Nice stock, but it is heavy. Might as well get a laminate stock.
Laminate is a good option and we've done several of those. They too are on the heavy side. There are lightweight options.
We use it in electrical applications
Nice rifle… would like to see some sensible weighted Leupold scopes on the lighter hunting rifles
micarta is good stuff
While I like Foundation stocks, the butt of that stock reminds me of a Steyr Pro THB, and it doesn't ride a bag well at all. The Stery belonged to a neighbor I took to the range to sight in.
Right on. G n G
Foundation is going to print money once a long action inlet is available for the Dominion.
I think you're right. Have been envisioning a custom with the 280 AI cartridge... Maybe 7 PRC?
@@guyminer3168 ammo availibility or maybe stack 2 year supply of ideal cartridge
Which model would be there lightest ?
I take it there hasn't been any "skim" bedding done on these stocks? Not necessary?
Right, we haven't bedded any of the Foundation stocks. Just put the barreled action in, and torque it down. All the rifles have performed very well.
How much is it😊
Spendy, around $1200. If it's worthwhile, that's up to you.
$1,200 for a stock? I will stick with a Boyd’s.
Boyds is a great economical alternative and likely the route I'll choose. But these Foundation stocks... My goodness but they're good.
Nice stock, to bad they aren't affordable for us that don't have much disposible income.
1300.00 US for a stock. Inflation is killing everything.
