To get around the landing beacon not showing up: Don't request to land until you are next to a hangar. If you hit it too early, fly back outside the armistice zone and come back and try again. If you can't find Area 18's spaceport, fly to the Area 18 Quantum mark then fly to heading 260.
You can set your throttle in options so you don't need a farward/back key.. Controles, inversions settings, Flight, Flight movement, Throttle farward/backward (yes)
Wipes have become much less devastating. For the last few wipes, I've kept my credits and most of my in-game purchased ships. For the best chance at keeping ships, you want to make sure they are always stored in good shape, not damaged or destroyed. You might have to re-customize your ship components/weapons, but that's a lot better than having to re-acquire the whole ship lol.
The game certainly improves over time, I just remember how depressing it was a year ago when we were all waiting for 3.18 after basically a year of 3.17.x without any significant changes. Hope that in 2024 progress will accelerate even more with new devs coming from sq42
Interesting to hear about all of the bugs and problems... I know they still abound, but I have been fortunate and have had very few issues this patch, with only the occasional unmarked hangar or broken repair services as regulars. At the very least, I hope crash recovery starts working for you... I've had several party members run into issues over the weeks and it's been so wonderful having them spawn right back with me.

This is exactly what i love the most about this game. Just go in a direction and go Mining ot Trading or any sort of peaceful gameplay. Maybe ocasionally having to fight but not all the time.

SC is never only positive, it has its negatives like other games out there as well :) I just dont like people just putting out only negatives while there is also positive to say in a game. And iam glad this video did both well.

I have to say, I was really pleased to see you back in-game over the last few weeks and despite the fantastic work you've done with Space Engineers stuff, I am very excited to see you doing some Star Citizen content again. I also can relate to much of you "returning to Star Citizen" experience. As I've often said, I've played ever patch since launch, but the amount of time I spent in game has varied a lot and to be honest, since 3.17, I've popped into SC, but I've spent most of my time playing Conan Exiles and Starfield, but with 3.21, I very much had a bit of a "New Player" feel to the game because, like you, I've reverted to older loops to see how things were playing after such a long layoff. And, finally, YES... It's the draw of Star Citizen that is what seems to define the game for me, and I look forward to seeing where your new adventures in the 'Verse bring you and looking forward to seeing more videos from your play. Tbh the "greifer" situation is non-existent a simple qt away and a few flares and you would easily survive. The game also supports criminal gameplay, skill issue if you cant get away, ive never died once to a "griefer" in my sc career.
I stopped playing when the star map ticked me off for the last time 3 years ago. Lately I've been poking my head back but still not jumping in until they replace that crap map.
SC is going to be both a forever game and an every game at the same time in 3 years time. Server Meshing needs to come out next year, 2025 will be used to add more star systems and, when the novelty of a new world slows in 26 we will then switch to maximizing space sage on already build worlds and different gameplay loops to justify them. It should be smooth sailing after server meshing till then.
Welcome back...If you returned to the game during IAE, freefly, jumptown, or siege of orison, it would explain most of these bugs and glitches. The game is so much better than two years ago, I just think you had some bad luck and returned to the game when the servers are at their laggiest.

The funny thing is, over almost 100 hours i've sunk into the game. I've only lost my cargo twice due to a 30k bug. I've also had the opposite happen where I've gotten double the resources ( 2 1/2 times) due to a 30k bug as well.
Yeah, the 30K or other crash issues have become much better. They've said they are focusing more on QoL things, and even though things are still up and down, it's in a better state than it was 2 or 3 years ago.
@@Oearth I mean i've survived a AAA's mmo where 90k and 500ms ping was normal for two years (relaunch of XIV) and it took 4 more years before those issues were fixed. Once the database is moved to the new tech 30k bugs will be rare but you cannot account for everything. Even the largest MMO's have disconnect issues still. The main issue going forward is can they allow you to re-log back onto your ship or implment a 'safety' system so if you're planet side and occur a 30k, your ship is landed at the nearest safe zone with you in it, and in deep space you're just relogging back via your bed. That's going to be the biggest test of their new systems.

A "mining" ship returning to station, seems like a prime target to loot the "ore". Dislike people calling fair play "griefing". Although the npc cops should have poped him for engaging that close to a station, unless they haven't fixed that yet...?
yes 3.18 was very bad lol I stopped playing for a bit then I have found my liking for salvage relaxing and if you get a bigger ship to salvage the cargo that may be inside gives you a new challenge as you cant fit it all in the Vulture LOL so I pick up cargo ship first empty what I like and then go to work salvaging the ship even if it takes 4 trips to empty the Vulture small cargo grid. I too go targeted going into land at Lorville I was full but where I was I just managed to launch chaff before I entered the none shooting zone and just manged to stop the missiles hitting me. like you I dont mind Pirate gameplay but if they have blow me up all my cargo would have spread over Lorville where they would not have been able to get to it. so this leads to greifing is still in the game for sure just no at much as it was in the older days of pad ramming.
