- The vehicle team over at CIG did a Q&A session going over some of the features and exciting things to come with the newest mining ship, the RSI arrastra.
I'm so excited that CIG has so many features and ships on the horizon for Star Citizen. Honestly suprised just how good the RSI Arrastra is. I mean, sporting all Size 3 components is absolutely notes if I am being honest. On board refinery is going to be so nice to have as well. Essentially able to mine and refine as you go is quite the feat that you cant compare to. There are still quite a few hard questions I have coming out of this Q&A session they did. Hopefully as time goes on we get better details and this looks a little more....refined..right? haha. I definitely get they hype for the Arrastra and got one immediately myself, but some friendly advice.... Beware of CIG's marketing team, they have an unfortunate habit of being overly "enthusiastic" in their pitch/sales materials and often excessively "creative" with their terminology. To be fair though, even the dev team Q&A's have been known to create more questions than they answer. 🤣
CIG doesn't sell anything, always over sell. Although, the base realities of this ship are solid. The mining lasers. Ability ro refine and cargo capacity are not like to change much
CIG & Marketing - "Carrack Killer" Odyssey? Yes, although it gave me ample store credit to get an Arrastra 🙂
Caution is advised! Remember how the Kartu-Al lost 4 of its 6 advertised guns?
You could fill pages upon pages with missing stuff.
I stopped buying things before they are built, as you might be waiting 6 Years for them to decide to finally build it, while rolling you with direct to flight ships, because they already got and used the money from your un-built jpg projects.
I don't see this coming until maybe q4 '27 given the list of rsi ships currently in front of it. Polaris, Zeus, apollo, galaxy, Perseus.
When it does happen it would be nice to see the prospector fit into a role along side this vessel maybe managing the sub breaks for a finer detail.
as for refining, the mole carries 8 bags so the expanse will be able to refine a mole at a time? The arrastra 2 moles at a time? Faster than a refinery? My 24 dinx orders take 3-4 days each. We'll see. Stay tuned for several years to find out. We'll prolly have pyro, nyx odin, vega and magnus before we have the arrastra to fly through them.
I see the Orion as an Org based mining ship - the Arrastra though I can see being run by two people happily enough - albeit not at full efficiency - but happily enough. I have a Mole and a CCU from an Eclipse to an Arrastra. I plan on keeping both mining ships at the moment. I can also see a single Roc and a Mule in the Garage - the Mule is very useful.
What do you use your mule for?
@@epic_grayfox A runabout vehicle, small box carrier when you set down. No guarantee you will be landing at a big spaceport with handling facilities. Running a crew of 2 makes it unlikely you'd both leave the ship at the same time. wouldnt need 2 Rocs.
I might upgrade my Galaxy to this. It looks awesome.
Idk friend. That's a tough choice. I think the arrastra is like king mining vessel with its versatility. On the other hand, the galaxy has the ability to build bases so that's a hard trade off
The Arrastra is going to become the solo mining ship in my opinion with the laser operator seats all sitting right there in the cockpit area. The Q&A was severely lacking in details but that was to be expected from CIG since they don’t even know all the final details yet. But all I can say is that the ship can’t get here soon enough lol
Not convinced by Solo - if only because of the Engineering presentation for both maintenance and breakdowns. I can see it being run by a pair of people though.
Solo is possible, provided you don't run into trouble. This is more of a target than a mope because you can actually carry your refined Ore which can be taken and sold
Plus the ship prob cant dock at normal refinery... So you are stuck with 2 jobs running for 24-60+h... Online flight time i dont think the refinery works if its in the hangar..
IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS SHIP HOLYYYYYYYYYYYY. I really hope they knock it out of the park, seeing as how mining is my fav loop in the game. Only sucks I'll have to wait like at least half a year before it'll be in the game to get
For real tho, it looks like they have a lot sorted out with this ship. When this comes out likely the expanse will not be far behind since it's sole function is Refining while this has numerous purposes
I love my mining gameplay, so it was a no brainer getting the arrastra, I melted my orion for the arrastra and so looking forward to seeing it actualy ingame....hopfully within 2024 sometime.
An interesting choice, I feel like the arrastra will more than likely be the loaner for the Orion upon release and we are a Long way from the Orion.
bad choice. the orion is going the be the biggest money maker in the entire game. bar none. nothing else will come close to owning a space station like the orion will. the arrastra will be a loaner for the orion tillwe get the orion. you shot yourself in the foot melting the orion.

The Mole has 8 bags so that would be 1 Mole order, not 2. And the external capacity is 512 SCU. The 576 SCU is the total for the ship so 512 SCU external, and 64 Internal. And the intent is not the haul other stuff (though I am sure some will do that). The point would be for the Arrastra to take its haul from a site to a new site or sale. Or have a transport ship come to it and take the haul in for sale while the Arrastra stays at the location to keep the work going.
I do think the same that the bigger the laser and extraction power the bigger rock you should be able to mine without fracturing to much, sometimes you're running out of free time and don't care if the rock only has 30% wanted materials, you just want to fill the bags and go, but you still have to fracture them to a less than 1k mass to pick them up, need a way to speed that up at the cost of gathering the rocks with all the "unwanted" extras.
Still I love the ara ara, and with the development of similar ships from rsi it looks promising to see it quite soon (compared with other ships that have been there for years)

Given the placement of the cargo containers and the width of the ship it might mean that you’ll either require a capital landing pad or a docking collar when you’re fully loaded.

Considering its not going to release in 2023 i dont think you can say its the "future of mining in star citizen 2023"

i think the fire power fits its reward vs risk right do not think a small intercepter like today or 1 small ship can be able to down a ship like this bring 20 players risk something to grin something remember if you down a full arrestre is going to be millions of auec what do the crew get for killing you in a Arora ?? nothing ofc you need a small fleet to take out a big ship like this
i dont know why people dont can get their head out of their ass an think over this people do nop pay 700 dollers or 1200 dollers for a ship you can down with a titan
It's going to have 2 Size 3 shields. It'll take some serious fire power to drop this thing.
@@epic_grayfox Well, until pirates laugh in S7 Ares hardpoint or S9 Tali/Eclipse torp. I mean, it has the turrets, but unless the one at the back can move below like the mining laser, it will have a huge blind spot. But I do agree, it can be an "improv gunship", and has missiles to boot. I still would not bring a miner to a fight, but if the fight comes to you, you have a decent chance against scrubs like me.
And yes, ofc I got one. I had to. As a last side note: Since the cargo AND mining and all the other bells and whistles sound a bit too good to be true, I bet my behind there will be a HUGE cuveball, like the refinery having to output like the compactors in the Vulture, so you would have to move all the boxes yourself or something dumb like that. NO ONE in their right mind would ever design a ship like that, conveyor beltss and robot cranes are thing even today .... but "balance" and stuff. So while I was really pumped at first, I have become cautiously optimistic at best.

i'm not interested in ships that are years out. CIG has not changed. They are still talking about ships that are years out, like they are just around the corner. Not to mention all the turrets. I bet a million auec that will change.
