I am so beyond pumped and excited for the upcoming video game from Warner Bros Games and Avalanche Games along with Portkey Games, Hogwarts Legacy!
This is my 100% real and honest reaction to the Hogwarts Legacy State of Play Gameplay from Playstation that live-streamed on March 17th 2022.
I have been awaiting this game since they first announced it! No joke, this was the reason I even bought the PS5 to begin with. This gameplay was nothing short of fantastic and I can't see what other sneak peeks they send our way in the coming months!
And we have a release date! HOLIDAYS 2022! This has to be the most highly anticipated game of the year and as a die hard Hufflepuff and HP fan, I will be impatiently waiting for the end of the year to be able to FINALLY play this game!

I'm utterly flabbergasted, after watching literally dozens of reactions, that almost no one recognized Peeves at Hogwarts library

I didn't catch him at first. The books have more info on what he does and says rather than what he looks like
Yeah I missed him the first time mainly because the older games that were made around the PS2 era (Prisoner of Azkaban). Peeves looks almost like a goblin/ghoul in those games.
@@daedalron Well I guess plenty of people just watched the movies and the ones that read the books will have done so more than a decade ago.
I did recognize him, but was surprised by the look they went for. I agree with the colorfulness, but expected him to be... smaller. And seethrough. Without a tophat. Actually, I kind of expected a jester kind of look. Old fashioned king's court style. Maybe a belled hat.

I've legit waited for a game like this ever since I got my first book at 11 years old. Which is now 20 years ago.

I was born when first movie came out and I can only imagine how someone like you, who was there to even read the books, feels like. I really hope you get to play it and enjoy it. Fans like you deserve this.

It's highly inprobable that they don't. It's free money. Every 3A game has one these days because they know they'll sell.

I love the look and feel of this game. I'm still interested to see how they deal with the lore, history and world-building which is what Im most excited for.
Nice to see them put in a Slytherin that doesn't automatically appear evil or snobby. First playthrough-"good ending" slytherin

I’m a Slytherin as well, but I feel like my inner-snake will take hold and force me to go bad as a Slytherin. Slytherin house is my perfect lair to relish in that personality.

The spells in deathly hallows looked like a machine gun with a wand texture xD They were just a constant stream of light. Whereas this looks more like it is actually possible.
hahaha when you put it that way, it's true! lol back then I didn't even question it, I just loved playing the game! But this is going to be a major upgrade, for sure!!! Can't wait!
One of the cooler touches in the behind the scenes is that you can see the houses of the developers as they are introduced. I love that us HP fans just need to know in which house we are it is so fun. (Slytherin btw)
How awesome would it be if they released the physical copies cases with each house colour of your choice. Like if you're a gryffindor fan the case will be in Red and gold, Hufflepuff case in black and yellow, etc.
I'm excited to get to know the Charms and Herbology professors especially. Even with what little we've seen of them, they seem like fun characters.
I recommend you read the books before this comes out. You learn a lot more about the castle than the movies

I'm so excited. I get emotional everytime I watch this. I can't wait to get sorted into Hufflepuff. Since it wasn't shown, I do however wonder about things like...
1) Can we explore the Black Lake? Can we go underwater?
2) I saw a quick snippet of Dementors in the first trailer. Does that mean there's a Patronus Charm system involved? How would it determine our patronuses or can we choose them?
3) Can explore or travel to other locations such as Azkaban, Godrics Hollow, The Shrieking Shack, or the Ministry of Magic?
4) Since you can have a companion join you on your adventure, can you both hit an opponent with spells? Can you tag team with spells?
4) What happens if you choose a dark path? Does your appearance change? Do students respond to you differently ala Fable?
5) How do you get to Hogwarts? Do you go to Platform 9 ¾? Flying car? Floo powder? Thestrals? Uber?
6) Can we grow our own or at least see/encounter a Whomping Willow?
7) Can you fall off your broom?
So many things I'm curious about. Plus a lot more. But I already know this will be my favorite game of all time.
It did show the hufflepuff common room tho and it looks so cozy
I hope we will not be able to choose our house, wand, patronus but the game will ask us questions instead.

”They look animated” its cus of the flow, comparing it to deathly hallows is honestly bordering on a crime. Deathly hallows was a third person shooter, this is an rpg, and in proper duels the wizards n witches had to have a certain flow to their duelling in order to both be unpredictable and keep the momentum, hope that helps a bit, its all in books, websites and the original books if you read between the lines :)
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! I actually love how the spell casting looks now in comparison to DH. I just used it as comparison because personally it was the last HP game I played on console and I really enjoyed it, but still it was a major jump and change but one that I'm so happy and excited for! Duels are going to be so much more fun now!

Not trying to be mean or anything I'm just saying you should pause it to get your thought across and so that you don't miss what they're saying, cause I am interested in what you have to say about everything. Otherwise I enjoyed watching! I'm super excited for this game and it's nice to see fans like you (Fellow Hufflepuff by the way :D) get so excited about it cause they took elements from both the books and the movies and slapped it Into one game that's a Potter head's dream come true.
P.S That willy wonka dude you saw was Peeves I believe. The ghost from the books that guards the dungeons? It'll be cool to see him cause my experience with Harry Potter was through the movies and he was only.in the books.
@@HelenaHades The moment I saw the elves in the kitchen, that's when it became clear they've really paid attention to what was in the books and not relied solely on the movies.
Watching the state of gameplay trailer when it was live... It was nice to feel like I was 10 years old again if even for just 20 minutes lol.

Ravenclaw here: This game is much BIGGER than you think. The depth of detail is amazing. The main story line is: "YOU the Student at Hogwarts". There is something about you that could destroy the wizarding world. Hogwarts Legacy appears to have at least five in-game story-lines: "Goblin Rebellion", "Mysterious Corruption (red eyes)", "Poachers of Magical Creatures", "Merlin's Legacy", and "Ancient Magic". The game design allows us to support, oppose, or ignore any or all story-lines as we choose. This is a game about choices. You get to choose your game-play style and level. If you choose to ignore the pew-pew-pew combat, you can, and there will still be tons of stuff to do in this game. You get to choose what you learn in class and choose what knowledge to use in the world. You get to craft, brew, grow, collect what you want. There is no single-story linear game-play to force you to do anything. At every corner there is opportunity to choose good/evil. Last year's reveal trailer shows that Azkaban Prison and Dementors are in the game. They are there for a reason. Choose your friends carefully and use your Dark Magic wisely. "Mischief Managed."

Room of Requirement. It is known that the Room of Requirement will come to the aid of someone in need. (If you go evil, do not expect the Room of Requirement to aid you). The room senses that you are in need and supplies you with what it thinks will aid you. It looks much different than in the movies because in the movies it sensed the need of Harry Potter and supplied Harry with what it thinks he needed. Notice that top center there is a very large clock. There is also a smaller grandfather clock to the left. (Don't get carried away and be late for classes). On the lower level far right there is a large book case full of books. I can't wait to see what is in those books. On the back wall there are numerous (animated) paintings. Why does the room feel we need these? (Talk to paintings everywhere, them may give important clues.) Notice the Hopping Pot is barefoot, so it won't follow you around the room. Sorry, that is not a cat, it is a Kneazle. If you collect Kneazles for your vivarium will something magic happen and little baby kitten Kneazles appear? OMG! That would be so cute!
That was not Willy Wonka xD that was Peeves the Poltergeist, who only is afrait of the Bloody Baron.
(the ghost that represents the hous of Slytherin as Sir Nicholas is the one for Gryffindor , The Grey Lady for Ravenclaw and the Fat Friar for Hufflepuff )
Peeves is the one that is really really really mischief ;) and works very often together with Fred & George unthil they left school!
Also the ghost in the teaching room is Professor Bins...
he will be the only Professer that we know of from the books...becaus he is teaching Harry, Hermione, Ron and so on in History of Magic.

funny enough, I HAVE actually read all of the books. However, this was many moons ago and I only read the books once each so it's quite hard for me personally to remember all of the details from them. If you're able to, that's awesome! I wish my memory was that good but that's why I appreciate HP fans helping out other fans when they miss out details that they have once forgotten. Appreciate the help and love! :)

In the game, if Peeves gives you any trouble, cast the spell "Oscausi" (seal mouth shut) on him. Then enjoy an evening of relaxed reading in the restricted section of the library.

Griffindor here... I'm super pumped after seeing the gameplay as well. It's time we get to create a character and have a new story exclusive to a game.
Seriously, watching Potter fans reaction to this trailer, has been the highlight of my year!! Im so glad people were as gitty and excited watching it, as I was lol 😂
You get to explore it all. There has to be a separate map for Hogwarts castle, otherwise I will never find my classrooms. For a single player game, the game map is HUGE! There is a revealed piece of the game map that is 1/6th of the complete map. The complete game map is estimated to be 36 sq.Km. (possibly 36 sq.Miles?) The map is highly detailed with points of interest, dungeons, caves, hamlets, buildings and settlements. I suspect Hogwarts will be located in the center of the game map so we can explore in all directions. And then there are the off-map locations. Azkaban Prison is out in the North Sea. We know Gringotts Bank is in the game, that is in London some 300 miles to the south. (no other London locations have been confirmed). Plenty of room for hundreds of hours of magical game play.
At 13:03 in slow mo I personally read our character (the player's) lips say "enough lies" when speaking to Victor Rookwood the dark wizard in Hogsmead. (As seen in the game play trailer)

Fellow Hufflepuff here!! I'm SO STOKED for this game, no joke. I've been wanting a game like this for YEARS, and it's finally coming! If they do a collector's edition, I might just have to spring for it. My room mate is getting it, too. He's a Slytherin, lol.
Imo what makes that world shine is the world itself, the setting, the lore, the possibilities. Not the Harry story, sure it was nice, but that's done, I hope this is not the last game like Hogwarts Legacy.

They did change the outside of hogwarts a little bit just to make it make more sense in a gameplay perspective. Hogwarts doesnt really make complete sense in the fact it wasnt written to be setup as an actual physical space that you could walk every corner of. So to make pathways and connect sections they had to make minor changes to the courtyards, to a few towers and to the bridge that connects the two almost halves of the castle. They had to make it walkable and therefore a bit more realistic. Which is also why a few changes has been made to a few classrooms aswell, because the player has to be able to navigate the space. But it deffinetly still looks like hogwarts and feels like hogwarts!

Fellow Hufflepuff here. I am an avid Harry Potter fan, but I think this game is going to make me realize what an amazing world the franchise has to offer. Ever since I found out this game is going to be on the Switch, I have watched the trailer like 10 times in the past week! My Slytherin boyfriend and I cannot wait to get the game!

As bad as it may sound I'm going to wait until it'd been out about 6months before I get it...these games always have glitches out the a$$ even they first come out amd sometimes are barely even playable because of them... normally takes them a couple months to get the glitches figured out and ironed out is why I wait

This is coming from a lifelong gamer who doesn't much care for the Harry Potter IP.
I don't know much about anything except for having watched the movies once, and from my perspective, this just looks like a great game.
If it turns out great, it's about time. Games in the IP have so far been mediocre and only really worthwhile for people who already like the setting.
I'll be buying the game on launch. Here's to hoping for something I'll happily recommend to everyone.
