Six-time SUP World Champion and ultimate waterman, Kai Lenny, sets forth on a challenging downwind journey through the Hawaiian Islands, all in one massive effort to raise awareness around plastic pollution. Alongside Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii and The 5 Gyres Institute, the crew led the first-ever statewide beach cleanup on the Hawaiian Islands. Transported by various human-powered crafts, Kai traveled the 200 nautical miles through the Hawaiian channels to attend beach cleanups and empower communities around oceanic pollution.

More applicable 6 years later. Thanks Red Bull and Kai Lenny
redbull, what ever you do... keep putting this video up, weather on youtube or tv, just keep spreading the message
Trithory to right he lives the drem life
"There is hope for the future, if we can inspire and lead by example and creating one of the most sustainable cultures that ever lived on the planet"
I have been losing hope for a while, but this quote made me hopeful again. Thank you, let's unite as a people and protect our beautiful nature!
I was born and raised on Maui and i now live in New York City. This video had a big impact on me. Makes me want to go back home and start to make a difference in anyway i can. I might live on the mainland but Hawai'i will always be a huge part of me and will always be home.
Kai. Before a morning surf I would wake at sunrise and pick up trash. For 20+yrs from the pier to the jetty here in Ocean Beach San Diego. My Muscular Dystrophy is at a point I can only do 30 to 45 min max. I fuckin broke down yesterday for the first time in frustration. But after watching this video, I would be a coward if I didn't try harder. So thank you. This was just what I needed. WE are the guardians of this beautiful playground. Kai L no kai oi.
Red Bull tops in every sport
Great video and a great cause. Sports athletes with heart!
iPad Unknown 🙌🏽💙
Beautiful action for the ocean !!
Nice job Kai and friends, if every ocean user would just take one piece of scrap as they left the beach it would help, Respect to you guys
Amazing action and great effort for our environment! Aloha to Kai Lenny for that one!
absolute ledgend!
Good man, great cause
Good on you guys!! awesome
EPIC VIDEO!!!!!!! LOVE IT! I'M IN IT TO WIN IT! LET'S SAVE THIS PLANET TOGETHER!
good video, great cause!!
I didn't know a foil like that existed. That is beyond amazing to me
Kai Lenny himself invented it in 2016, he talks about it in recent podcasts and interviews. It's amazing
Do that in bali too pls!!
holy shit those guys are awesome
Amen!
Nice!!love how your making people aware of this!!is red bull doing anything with the packaging of the products they make to help with this issue??
so epic
We need that in HB! Every time I'm out I stuff plastic in my wetsuit.
What is the soundtrack for this video?
surfboards, wetsuits and surfwax, etc. are made from petroleum products. some surfers generate huge carbon footprints traveling to surf. food for thought
I agree it generates waste, but not nearly as much as other industries. You can at least try to offset the footprint you create. Look at snowboarding for example - how much carbon is used for lifts and piste machines every winter?
thats why some of us ride backcountry =
I love carbonate dioxide, I pump it into my greenhouses to boost yields.
nice, very good...like 316
Why is he sponsoring Red Bull, its in the channel of Red Bull
Must’ve harnessed the energy of approximately 20 six month old puppies and 10 five year old children to complete this
or one can of Red Bull
Rippin n cleaning

😄🙌🏼
When the day came that we could not boil our water clean enough to drink is the day we sealed our fate.
I think people are looking at this the wrong way. just pick up after yourself? Be considerate? make some sort of effort? cool video
what about kahoolawe
At times it looks like some cheap green screen footage ;D much love though
I commented
Id be scared to death a great white would mistake the hydrofoil for a seal or something. Seems super dangerous man. Hope he’s really careful and makes it really un seal like as possible!!!!!!
is he not scared of sharks?
Seriously though, how is all this plastic ending up in the ocean. Figure that out and then we can work on the problem. Telling us to stop using plastic is ridiculous, I mean I wish we could but there is too much money in it for the corporations and they aren't gonna stop anytime soon. On the rare occasions I use a plastic bottle, I throw it away when I am done and then it goes to the dump here in Las Vegas and gets buried or recycled. I imagine that is most peoples experience so how is all this plastic getting in the ocean?
sponsored by red bull. Polluting with aluminum cans of liquid crack
kann i be Sponsored
joke i liked
hi
Uh....I believe his board is made of plastic.
Does this seem like a big excuse for this guy to paddle around the Hawaiian Islands?
trump needs to sign an executive order on biodegradable plastic only
Laird Hamilton did it before Kai Lenny!!!!! Hydrofoil isn't new!!!!
pp.
Thats why hes riding on a surfboard made out of plastic, with a paddle made of plastic and boardshorts out of polyester.
Also drinking red bull shots out of olastic bottles and as a typical american using plastic dishes at home.
Well your comment is incredibly innaccurate.
- Surfboard: Foam and Fiberglass
- SUP Paddle: Carbon Fiber
- Boardshorts: RECYCLED Polyester (just look at the Hurley website...)
- Redbull Cans: Aluminum (energydrink-us.redbull.com/en/can-lifecycle)
- "Typical American Dishes": Rarely plastic. Either washable dishes or PAPER plates...
ForrestKnight not tge cans. There are small energy shots in plastic bottles
I love how he grabs a redbull while ridding (for people that don't understand sarcasm). I work for a certain soda company and they could give two shits about their waste, just like every other soda company in the world. If it brings in money no one cares. This video is kind of a joke. They've been throwing plastic into the ocean for 70+ years.
And by joke, I mean bad!!
Where the hell are the locals? Do they not give a shit?
Where are you? Sitting behind your computer at home while others clean your city? Do you not give a shit?
Yeti uh excuse me? I help clean my city every spring. Our whole neighborhood does.
I didn't see you out and about just then and assumed you didn't care. Kind of like the same thing you assumed 22 hours ago.
Yeti didnt see any locals in the video.. What you see is what you get. Not assuming anything tough guy
You assumed they didn't give a shit.
Turn all those plastic rubbish into hydrofoil and all will be ok 👌
Plastic is Not Fantastic.
Hey CZcamsrs check out my Channel i race Motocross & upload weekly GoPro mx Track videos leave some feedback and letme know what you think
Can action sports people please stop pretending to be scientists...
Isn´t it a good thing what they do? I mean they have bigger influence on people than scientists...
Jacob Cranney they're not. common sense that plastic is bad for the sea
Jacob Cranney they do what they want, you have no opinion when it comes to that
Jacob Cranney they are doing their sport - which is done in the ocean - so it makes sense to help clean it up and ask that it isn't full of shit. I doubt footballers would be too happy about people dumping garbage on their pitches either. And environmentalism and surfing is hardly a new phenomenon, surfers against sewage is over 25 years old and the Surfrider foundation over 30. People like surfing in clean seas - go figure.
didnt mean to trigger a bunch of people hahaha.
