- The Molokai 2 Oahu Race was cancelled again this year and a shorter course on Oahu took it's place- The BlueWater Hawaiian Classic. The organizers set up a special, shorter course for SUP foilers to be able to race in the bumps- from Portlock Point to the Windsock at Kaimana. They also opened the race to Wing Foilers and we ended up having the biggest field yet of foiler racers on Oahu gather at the start off of Portlock Point.
The video voiceover touches on the history of the race, training, participants, equipment used, technique and strategy, results and more.

Thanks Robert. looks like a lot of fun. If I knew there was a wing division I would have made the trip over from Maui, next year.
It would have been great to have you in the race Allen. We are hoping they will let us wing the M2O race next year 🤙🏼
Thanks so much Robert , that was a great run down and nice job on your result. Props to you.
Thanks Rob, glad you liked it, means a lot coming from you 🤙🏼
Nice recap Robert! And congrats to you and Nani
Thanks Mike! 😎🤙🏼
Is there ever a max size wing that you can use? To make it a more even playing field? Congrats on the win! Rippah!
Thanks. At this point there are no rules but there is a diminishing return as a bigger wing is more challenging to handle and it gets in the way when you start flying downwind on the bumps faster than the wind, so there are trade offs.
Thanks Rob!
Yeah Joe! 🤙🏼
Cool recap Robert. Could have been a jellyfish stuck on your foil also lol.
Yes, could be, maybe a very small one, otherwise I think I would have noticed it. 🤙🏼
Robert- you're the only guy I know who drives with his foils mounted up on the rack!
I usually don’t, it’s too easy to forget and run into things. We just did that to shuttle to the start 🤙🏼
@@blueplanetsurf maybe you're on to something, 4 foils on top might give you enough lift to save some gas $$
Great info to see what is happening on the other side of the world. How do you find the 460 pump tail with the small 899 front wing? How is it compared to the axis progressive tails ?
This answer is the same as to another question: I found the 460 helped keep the foil stable at high speeds. I usually use the ART899 with a ultra short fuse and 325 progressive tail for waves and freestyle riding but for high speeds the longer short fuse with the 460 tail was a great combo and felt really good at high speeds when racing. Control at high speed makes all the difference
The 460 tail seems rather large to pair with the 899. I usually hear about this tail for lighter conditions with large front foils or pumping.

@@blueplanetsurf thanks for the feedback. I usually pair the 460 with my 1060 for light winds but will give it a try with the 999 to see how it feels for straight line speed.
Nice Vidéo ! Can you tell me what is the Takuma foil setup ? Thanks !
Jeff Chang was using the Takuma Foil, I’ll ask him what the setup was
@@blueplanetsurf ok thanks !
Doesn't seem like a real fair start when some are starting much closer to finish line. Is that normal? Does it matter?
Sure it matters and the start was pretty chaotic but it’s pretty common when you start in the water where it’s hard to get everyone in a line
What's the scoop on that Nolimitz mast with the GoFoil wings? Who's the rider?
Derek and Eli were testing the NoLimits mast with their GoFoil setups but I think the result was inconclusive.
