FORD ESCORT MK3 GL - OWNERS REVIEW AND TEST DRIVE!

This week I'm lucky enough to be taken out in a friends lovely 1985 Mark III #fordescort estate!. We're #behindthewheel for a proper #drivingexperience :)

When this came out in the US they touted the Escort as a global car. Its styling is unique for this UK 🇬🇧 model, ours was a bit more box-like, a typical estate for us in the US.
Top line model for the US was the GLX and it could be had with wood panels (faux wood of course).
I just like the look of the Escort from the UK, it is different from the US Escort. And this is the first time I have seen a UK Escort estate!

I know I'm getting old when I'm looking to buy a classic estate. Never liked the MK3 Escort back in the day. I found it dull and uninspiring. But this lovely estate example is different, and of course Ford just made what sold. And damn good at it they were.

I have an Escort Estste mk3 1.6 GL, it passed its M.O.T this month, it's a bit tatty and scabby, still going strong though lol...my dashboard is cracked all over though

My 2nd car was an A reg Mk3 Escort Hatchback, I then went to a Mk4 Estate then a Mk4 Orion then finally a Mk5 Escort Estate I was Ford mad in the late 80’s and 90’s

My best friend and I drove such a car in the Orion GL version as a limousine on holiday to the south of France in the late 80's..I remember it being a comfortable touring limousine. The only thing that happened was that the parcel shelf started to get soft in the summer heat and started to sag.. 😀
